Unpretentious pub with rooms offering a grill/bistro, a sports bar and a kids' play room This unassuming pub with rooms is 1.5 km from the Bluewater Lagoon, a waterpark with slides and 3 pools, and 7 km from Harbour Beach. The 6 humble rooms with no-frills decor have en suite bathrooms and come with TVs, minifridges, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. The pub has a relaxed bistro with a grill, plus a sports bar with a pool table. Other amenities include a gaming room with slot machines, and a kids' playroom with a PlayStation 3. Parking is free.

Went there for the first time since the renovations. Wow what can I say!!! Fantastic food, friendly service and a relaxing and very inviting atmosphere. Decorations for Christmas look amazing as well! All I could see was happy faces all round. Will definitely be back!!!

We had a family reunion there last weekend and it was an ideal location for everyone, the food was terrific, the staff very friendly and worked really hard to make our time great. We had our sit down meal in the closed room function space and then we all moved out to the open air, which after such a lovely meal and being so well looked after by the staff, the fresh air was a nice change. Our event was managed very well as there were many staff on that day and night. I strongly recommend it for large groups as we had a fabulous time and was well looked after, maybe even spoilt !!

We go here for lunch or dinner once a week . The renovations are great and looks lovely and the meals started out great , but the meals are definitely getting worse and worse and yesterday was the last straw . We spent $80 on meals and we barely ate any , I ordered fish and chips and I got two tiny bits of fish that was covered in very hard overcooked batter and undercooked fish , extremely tasteless !!!!! My partner ordered a med/well steak , it was so tough he couldn’t eat it . The hot chips were the only good thing . We went home and made hotdogs which were 100 times better then the rubbish we paid for at the metro. Step up cooks

We actually used to frequent here a lot for meals. Hoping we can again soon .
Staff need to be updated on hand hygiene.
After watching 2 staff members coughing into their hands & not washing or sanitising proceeded to take out food or poor drinks .
We left & ate dinner elsewhere.
Hopefully an easy issue to fix .

Was staying at Carlyse Oaks apartments ... very close by and the Team were great not to mention the food was amazing also 😀

So it's not bad for a budget place my aircon sucks big time. Anyway that's okay, what has pissed me off the most is the gay guy who works at the bar also not just him the kiwi girl and one other. I'm trying to get served by a lovely bloke chubby girl and those 3 are yelling and interrupting me and her ordinary my meal. It took me to turn to the gay giy and say did mummy and dad not tech any of u manners and not to talk over others why they are talking. He walked off. I get it yiur gay and loude and proude but f me mate I want to order my meal and get it right for f sake. The meal was alright I didn't relise the steak was chagrined not a fan did order med rear got med to well done. But I ate most of it veg was good. The chesse and bacon bread was good, but the chesse cake dame was good ba the christmass pudding bottom not a fan sorry but all in all I give u guys 6 out of 10 for food. I just wish gay boy would not be so loude and proud and have a bit more respect that be nice. U can tell he didn't like me but hey not my problem. Lol 😆 room is good for a night been a truck driver it's good for me. I say not for a posh person thou. Anyway cheers

Rooms were great, stayed in the accommodation for a private function but were constantly ‘spoken to’ by the not so happy manager.
We’re never in the right spot, we’re having too much fun or just simply stared at for even existing.
If she wasn’t there stay would have been perfect but unfortunately we ran into her EVERY SINGLE DAY.
She either needs a drink or a chill pill to relax and the stay would have been perfect.
Thank you to everyone else that made our stay enjoyable, just not the grinch of Mackay.

People usually post photos of their food before they eat it. I posted mine after I ate it to show you, the public, that I thoroughly enjoyed my roasted Barramundi with a beautiful dill sauce and three beautifully flavoured baby potatoes. I also ordered a side of Garden salad and that went down well too. My friend said that it was the best Burger he's ever had here in Mackay (Waygu Beef burger). Could be cleaner, especially the toilets but overall good service and good food for reasonable price, especially if you only eat out once in a blue moon.

Lovely meal. Ideal for private function.
Great service by staff. Most helpful. Very friendly, out going.
Booked for a birthday celebrations. Staff helped set decorations up. Partied until late. Ideal venue.

Location is good in relevance to town and surrounding areas. Service is top notch from all staff through checking in and out as well as service at the bistro downstairs. Rooms are great for a quick crash and for the price it’s good value, fully working amenities, air con and proximity to bottle-O. Crashed for one night and found no issues minus some stains on the floor.

Helena and sarah were accomadating and loverly to be served by the both smiling and bubbely woman. The beers are cold and the food is amazing these two staff members made it a very enjoyable experience......................... i would highly reccomend this venue for food drinks or special occasions

Had a great night at metropolitan hotel had the chicken schnitzel with chips and salad awesome meal but had the best time playing pool on a round table even the bar staff were friendly

Had a family dinner, the service was great, and the food was fantastic .
My salt and pepper squid was great it was so soft and easy to eat. The portions are great. Had my first margaritas, and they were good.

Extremely impressed by this place! Food was incredible, staff are lovely and the modern design makes you feel comfortable and welcomed. They also have a round pool table which is super unique. Definitely will be coming back for a feed and drink. Highly recommend! 🙌

Excellent!
The Metropolitan Hotel was everything we needed for our one night stopover in Mackay. Our room was no frills, but had a very comfy bed, clean linen, and a great hot shower with fantastic water pressure!
Also want to mention the incredible retro tiles throughout the room, stunning!
We won big on the chocolate factory claw machine in the bistro and enjoyed some beers and a few games of pool on the round table!!!
Would visit again 😊

Enjoyed a really nice lunch here today. Eye Fillet steak with chips and veg. Pepper sauce tasted like pepper which was very nice. The steak was cooked to perfection and very tender. Couldn't fault it.

Don’t let the reviews throw you; the Metropolitan is a fantastic spot. While the rooms and common areas are a bit tired, the staff make up for it in spades. Had a beer with a few locals and they were great craic, the bar/outdoor areas are a nice mix of atmosphere and cleanliness with the bonus of pool tables everywhere
The music volume/light is definitely an issue staying here, but on a Tuesday night was over relatively early - they’re an Aussie Hotel not a Hilton, and I wouldn’t expect them to ruin their main trade so whinging guests can get to bed a couple hours early; would be disruptive enough to give it a miss Friday-Sunday though.

Delicious meals with a good price range!
Huge parmi and the spaghetti marinara was so tasty! Great options for kids too. Loved it all.

Decent venue with decent food and a great atmosphere. Just be careful if you make a reservation. We had a reservation for a group dinner and called to add some seats and were advised that the venue had subsequently been booked for a private, paid entry function that evening and we were welcome to sit outside... so glad we called to check.

Came for lunch,,, My good God,,,my 2 lunch companions,, were absolutely over the moon with their meals,,,as was I,,,a full 10/10 ,,, highly recommend this establishment,, food, service,and vibes,,, LOVE IT..!!!
Will definitely be back and will spread the word...

Attended a private function in the dining area. The food was great and the staff helpful and friendly (this is north Queensland after all). Stayed on in the outdoor area later on and everything was equally good.
