Was refused entry because it was “lockout after 12” and we “weren’t local drinkers” meaning that the 4am closing time only applies to those that the staff have given a few vb’s to each day

Very strange! Not even a bit drunk and they don't serve drinks. Just seeing faces and being racist or what? I do have my RSA as well and I know what reponsible drinking means! Owner can please check the camera and explain me why I'm not allowed to drink. I went to talk with manager as well but he doesn't even wants to listen what customers says. According to RSA, if I'm even drunk, I should be asked if I want to drink water. Very strange place!!!! Manager don't have his RSA RCG I guess. I'm playing slot machine and enjoying but the manager on 27/04/2022 - very strange and not allowing drinks.

this pub used to be a hell of a lot better. main bar is now just an annex to the pokie room. bored, disinterested service for the drinkers and zero atmosphere. will seek schooners elsewhere.

The rooms are great and the staff are good but downstairs is mostly pokies and the sports bar is mostly just tab stuff

The manager was rude, poor customer service abilities, beer tasted metallic and she just gave us an attitude without even assessing the situation.

Stayed at the hotel. Great rooms and friendly service. Highly recommend.

Pretty rough and miserable place. Perpetually has drunks hanging around outside yelling at passers by. The new LED billboard they installed outside blazes like the sun in the nighttime, pretty trashy. I think it's bad for the reputation of mortdale. Penshurst hotel has a much better bistro too

Need new staff the one's that work there now are rude .
The owner needs to get rid of the staff and get a ppl that are helpful and rude.

My local and I really like the place. Great steaks, asain cuisine & exceptional beer. Raffles Thursday & Friday nights. This is a local old school pub of the best kind.

Mortdale is a nice little pub. It has quite a big and modern pokie room if your into that and awesome staff who always serve you with a smile on :)

Just had the Monday Night Special - Steak and chips (mushroom sauce) with also the Garlic Turkish bread. Total $26!!!

I will start by saying that I do still sort of like this pub because it's dog friendly and has a nice friendly local feel amongst the patrons.
BUT I will say I used to LOVE this pub WHEN it had music playing (now it's silence), a POOL table (in an apartment dense suburb this was an attraction, now it's gone) and a fabulous Mexican bistro (gone! Now there is just pokies). If I owned this pub I would address these issues as it is driving us locals away in droves.... Also, no eftpos in 2018?

I hate Google that they don’t have a zero star review so I just giving them a 1* one of them worst experiences ever I came from creek I don’t want want anyone to go there .

Had the Monday night steak. Both my wife and I loved it. Very well priced kids menu and my young daughter loved the bangers and mash.

Guinness beer doesn’t taste like Guinness. Customer service at the bar is so poor. The manager will never reed the situation before giving your money back together with a bad time.

Great pub nice and small the bar staff are friendly and great and the locals are nice i live in cronulla and northies is 200 metres away but id rather travel and have a good time

Formally a giant of the St George region, now a cynical pokie den with miserable staff and miserable entertainment value outside feeding the tradesman's laptops. A pub that once featured live music, pool tables, a Juke box, arcade games and friendly locals is now nothing more than an avenue for tax donations to the state government via the reverse ATMs. You might get lucky on a Friday evening with the footy turned on and a meat tray win but usually you'll be scowled at for enjoying yourself for fear of upsetting someone putting their last $20 into the Pensioner's PC. Avoid unless you have to.

Fantastic cheap meals and happy hour beverages served by really friendly staff... stayed in the accommodation above the pub which has been refurbished and is of outstanding quality.
Senior management were more than accommodating.... highly recommend 👌

Fall off the train close, this pub has a great atmosphere, a very wide mix of people and a happy vibe that kept our night going strong.
One staff member picked up on a person in our group as being drunk, and kept asking if we were buying drinks for him when we came to the bar. They believed he should be cut off. He was tipsy at best, and was simply distracted by a bet he was watching on his phone, however the close observation and concern for our safety was appreciated and after explaining, all went back to normal.
This is the first pub I have seen do this, and I greatly appreciate it.
Some renovations are underway and I expect the update will be interesting (don't want to give away too much), hopefully this will peak your interest enough to take a look?
All the staff, were friendly, happy, communicating well and have made me want to return

As with most pubs in the local area, this bistro has mainly an asian selection. Surprisingly though, their steaks were great and at a reasonable price too.
It's not the most flashy of pubs to eat at but it's worth a try if you're in the area.
Unfortunately the outdoor eating area is limited but the front balcony is nice to eat at if you're not surrounded by smokers.
