Went to Moss on Wood to celebrate my birthday. The prawns were succulent. The chilli wings were divine. The steak was juicy. The mashed potato was creamy. The cocktails were refreshing.

Went here. Got escorted to an outside seat. Ordered a pint of beer and never saw service again. A half hour later I went in to pay for my beer. I said I had been waiting to order food and was not happy that I had not been able to. I was asked my table number. I didn’t know what it was. A grumpy waitress said ‘we’re not mind readers’. I paid for my beer. Terrible service at this place. Try somewhere else

Went here for mothers day we got a morning / brunch menu pricing for portions was really good.
Food was really good and fresh
wait time was about 30 mins as four of us ate an we ordered alot so that was pretty quick staff was attentive an professional atmosphere was chill.
Would I return ....yes

Very nice interior. Some live music which is great. Extended food service times which is awesome. Had some hot wings which were great. Had zucchini chips too, not so good. Zucchini paper thin and too much batter. Good GF options. They do a tab payment option so hard to track how much you've spent. Good range of drinks. Bathrooms hard to find. Overall 4/5.

Used to be One of the best breakfast in town. I have been here multiple times for breakfast. I had to edit my star review from 5 to 1. I Loved their omelette, it was to die for. All their staff were great with a fantastic customer service. I came today hoping to have the same meal. To my surprise it was taken off their menu. In fact, their whole breakfast menu has been reduced by at least 3/4. They don't do omelette anymore not even an avocado on toast. Its like going to a cafeteria that doesn't served coffee. Their staff now have so much attitude that you just want to leave as soon as you talk to them. I Will not be coming back for sure. Definitely not recommended anymore.

Update: Service was still wonderful, great feel about the place still. Unfortunately they have changed menu. Salad dressing now has a bizarre taste, also vegan food has now changed with cheese and options being removed like the cheese burger.
Old review:From the moment we walked in we felt welcome. Received wonderful table service which made out lunch date perfect. We ate from the vegan menu and it was honestly the best vegan food we have had in Mackay! Made us so happy. So delicious and full of flavour. Thank you for such a great experience, will definitely be making Moss on Wood a regular outting from now on.

Unfortunately I can’t give you a positive review. I must say the lady host that helped get us seated was fantastic, friendly, great customer service. We made two meal orders, both for schnitzels with sides of chips and vegetables, one with bbq sauce and one with peppercorn gravy.
The staff member bought out 1 plate correct and the other came out without veggies and then with Aoili and not pepper gravy. The plate with schnitzel was place back on the table so it doesn’t go cold then the gravy was bought out that resembled a dirty tap water, and tasted like homebrand 1 minute gravy from a supermarket.
Veggie then came out with a bowl of veggies delivered (very oily veggies btw), so not a nutritious side portion to my meql. healthy portion of my high carb meal.
Gravy was then redlivered and was too runny to worry about.
Staff member two came across as not wanting to be here, and wasn’t pleasant.
Anyhow. The positive was the post mix drinks being up to scratch and the customer service of the staff member that showed us to our seats.
I feel bad that I have post this review and then pay for it as it’s possibly my worst experience at any venue across Australia.
Response from the manager was no charge for the drinks, which I won think as acceptable and worth taking into note. Venue looks great but the experience wasn’t.

Tried breakfast wrap with hash brown on the sides which surprisingly tasted so good!
The sausages in the wrap tasted so nice matched with scrambled egg, & bacon.
A cuppa of hot mocha completed my breakfast at Moss!
Spaghetti con Gamberetti is da best for my dinner! I didn’t usually eat a lot, but the combination of white wine creamy sauce, sliced zucchini, chilli and parsley is just way too perfect with the fresh wild prawns. Every rolled fork of spaghetti is perfectly tasted good in my mouth! Nothing left on my plate 🤷🏻♀️
Restaurant is cozy, with lots of seating for everyone. Pricing is fair enough for such delicious food.
Leaving this place with happy tummy 😊

The food is good but doesn't rate a 5 star, I go back because the service is lovely. Can be very loud when they have a few people in the restaurant talking at once. Very easy location central to entertainment area.

Sunday 3/3/24. Excellent service from the get go. From being seated through to payment. Water carafe served while being seated, polite active listening service, drink and food service timely. I never considered here for breakfast but highly recommend after this experience. Will be returning. Food was tasty and ample, couldn’t finish my plate.

Saturday morning breakfast adventures, lead me to Moss on Wood.
Lovely place where you can sit inside or on the footpath (not literally, they do have tables and chairs out there 😁).
Big Breakfast... And Chilli Scrambled Eggs.
Big Breakfast has all the traditional items, and is exactly that....BIG.
Chilli Scrambled Eggs was amazing. Spicy chilli sauce (their own concoction) with grilled chorizo. Magic combination and extremely yummy.
Place can get busy at times, so worthwhile booking.
Well worth the effort.....so glad I did.

Paid almost $40 for two Margueritas last night. Not worth the money as the drinks were missing so many ingredients and tasted terrible. It was a disappointing end to my friend's birthday.

Never again. 45 minutes to get eggs on toast. There were only 3 tables open. It was so dead that the waitress was sitting down playing with her phone. Way to ruin a birthday breakfast.

Marco was amazing! Fantastic service with a smile! Pete was also great. Always willing to assist. Staff were very happy to accommodate our requests.

Just visiting Mackay for work. Glad I stopped by here for some grub. Amazing pizza, chips and beer. Friendly staff and loved the atmosphere. Cheers :)

Had the coral sea barramundi, was one the best meals ive had, my girlfriend got the cauliflower steak and loved it aswell, excellent service, food and cocktails.

Had the Apple Crumble cocktail which was incredible- like drinking a dessert. The waiter, Phillipe, was sensational. Brought us a cream shot to add to the cocktail which escalated it to sublime. Had the sweet potato fries which were perfectly done.
Went back next day for breakfast - housemate beans on sourdough with egg. Food was great and the coffee was the best ever!

Had breakfast on a Sunday morning. The coffee and breakfast was outstanding. Best coffee in town . We had poached eggs and bacon with tomatoes and toast , was absolutely delicious. Would thoroughly recommend.

Food was pretty great. A little dry, but I am a sucker for a load of dressing. Drinks were great. Wait staff were super attentive when we first got there but then kinda lost interest. They were very friendly and polite, however.
The chairs are super uncomfortable - would definitely recommend trying to get one of the padded ones if you can, as the standard ones were awful.
Lots of parking either on wood street or in the parking lot at end of road.
Easy to get to. A little on the pricier side for some of their dishes but mostly pretty good. Would eat here again.

Fantastic!! Lovely services, lots of people of different ages enjoying themselves even during this gross 😝🥺👎 Corona virus...My good friends Kristina and Adrian Jensen ' Significant Other' played my favourite songs 🎵 dating 1980', 90's, 2000's. And once again I felt young!!😁😉

delicious and filling serves, nice variety with the menu, lots of old favourites. cocktails good selection. Staff helpful and courteous. wonderful ambient atmosphere, could have been the company too.

Came here for lunch, i ordered the cheese burger. Its a double pattie burger with there home made sauce. It had pickles on there was like a gourmet big bac burger... the cios are beer battered and cruncy on the out side ", soft in the middle. Whole meal was amazing! The staff are friendly,fast and very welcoming...

Being new in town we booked a table for 3 to celebrate our daughters birthday 🎂 as Moss On Wood quality food was suggested. Wow, yes we should have come here sooner. Whilst we had to wait a little for our food to arrive to meal is certainly worth the waiting. I had the rump and mash with vegetables the best meal ever, hubby had the lamb it literally was melting in his mouth it was so well prepared. The vegetarian dish served was also a winner the cauliflower steak was slightly lacking spice but still very tasty and exceptionally well prepared.
We would definitely be returning.
Great food, simple seating arrangements and pleasant atmosphere.

Beautiful looking cafe.
I had the chilli scrambled eggs and my partner had the big breakfast.
The chilli scramble was yum but lacked a little in flavour.
My partner wasn't a fan eggs were very vinegary and oily sides
Coffee was beautiful

As a couple who have moved from Victoria, where food and wine are a big staple and good food is highly regarded.
Moss on wood is the only place in Mackay who hasn’t let us down with good food
The food is consistently good and the service is fantastic.
We highly recommend coming here as you won’t be let down! We can’t wait to dine again

An interesting place to eat that is to say good and bad.
The food is great.
The service is a little disorganised my tip is order a drink as soon as you get directed to to a table as it is a long time between table service.
The food seemed to sit on the pass for a while.
