About Mount Gambier Hotel
Unassuming rooms in an informal hotel with a restaurant, a wine bar/grill & regular live music. Housed in a building with a verandah and an ornate facade, this informal hotel dating from 1862 is set off the Riddoch Highway in the city centre. It's a 2-minute stroll from events at the Cave Gardens and 2 km from Blue Lake. The unpretentious rooms (stair-access only) come with Wi-Fi access and TVs; some also have sitting areas. Amenities include a laid-back restaurant and bar offering regular live music on the weekends, as well as a wine bar/grill featuring a fireplace and classic regional dishes. There's also a terrace and a liquor store.

We were only there to eat dinner and the food was spectacular!!
Service was brilliant and the ambience set the mood for a wonderful evening.

We only ate here.
The food was good.
The adults shared a seafood platter (was called something else). It was nice and fresh, and cooked perfectly.
The kids meals were good too. Our kids are often fussy but they both got eaten. We got bolognese and nuggets

Went for dinner here. One of our group was looking forward to having lobster, but after being told it would be an hour wait decided to go with her plan b. Next time we go, hopefully we can order the lobster in advance so that there would not be such a long wait. Loved the baked Camembert, it's my thing.

We had a large group staying over several days at the hotel, and the staff were all fantastic (particularly Gina’s special cocktails!!!)
Hot tip, the eggs Benny at breakfast with the croissant toast is amaaaaazing.

We came for the drinks and stayed for the food. Oh my goodness it was amazing and the quality was superb! Porterhouse & Duck was absolutely gorgeous. The sweet potato & garlic puree is *chefs kiss*

Very comfortable room with a touch of style and luxury. The restuarant needs to up their quality control of food served. I'll keep coming back.

This is the second visit we have had the pleasure of having at the Mount gambier hotel. We stayed in 114 the dog suite. The room is spacious complete with a beautiful bathroom, comfortable bed, the food is AMAZING. The first night we had pork belly and the beef smash burger and the second night 5 different entrees which were all delivered to our room within 10 minutes of ordering. The staff all friendly and accommodating. Looking forward to visiting again next year.

The receptionist with too many tattoo and piercings on her face had disgusting behaviour, she ruined my holiday with her rudeness.
First when I get there, she said I didn’t have a booking without even looking on her computer system after make me wait for 10 minutes than she found my booking and while checking me in she just start communicating with another staff for 10 minutes and I was waiting and she completely ignored me. I would strongly suggest not to go there because that lady will ruin your trips too.

The place is alright and decent. Just the average hotel and pub. Not exciting. Service wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t say good. Most of the staff seemed unfriendly and not smiling around. The food is a bit overpriced and not great. We ordered the chicken taco salad and chips, the chicken was a bit dry and the chips were double-fried. Not sure because we had dinner there at 8:30 pm and the kitchen closes at 9:00 pm. It was a so-so experience.

The Mount Gambier Hotel is very central, opposite the Cave Gardens and a perfect location for shopping and dining. The hotel has friendly, professional staff. Downstairs there is a lovely bar and restaurant, which incorporates reception. I would describe it as a classy pub with 5 star rooms.||I had a king room- it was not only huge, but beautifully appointed. It was well equipped, had a very comfortable sitting area and a stunning bathroom. Breakfast was good and the staff happily served it upstairs on the mezzanine when requested.||I highly recommend the Mount Gambier Hotel for those who enjoy beautiful rooms and friendly service.

Stopped here for dinner - was a good pub meal. We shared a schnitzel which was large but thin, garlic prawn sauce was in a bucket but you needed it. Pork belly bites were ok but needed some pickles/salad to help cut through the richness. Also got a kids fish & chips which only had 1 small piece of fish - came out quick but for $15 thought perhaps you would get more. Had lots of good options on the menu, would come again

Stayed here for one night on our way from Melbourne to Adelaide. Great value for money! Was right in the centre of town near lots of shops, the room looked recently renovated, and was very spacious. Would stay again

Stayed at the hotel for 1 night. Room was very very nice. Nice modern room and very clean. $200 a night which I reasonable. We ate breakfast lunch and dinner in the restaurant. Meal prices are very reasonable, food is delicious. I had a beef burger, lamb breast and smashed avo with salmon on toast for breakfast. Every meal was delicious and come out quickly.staff are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be staying here again and I will be recommending it to others. Great place

Staff are always friendly and the food is fresh. They have a great range of food too, not just your standard pub options. Also, THANK YOU for having multiple vego options.

Spacious immaculate room. Beautiful building close to everything. Staff were great. Parking is a bit tricky at first, but once you get the gist of its location, it is easy peezy.

Rooms have been tastefully updated with nice decor, comfortable bed with a beautiful ensuite. This is a great place to stay if you are travelling through Mount Gambier. Central to everything with very good customer service. Free parking onsite.

Our renovated room was superb. The bathroom was beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable. Service was excellent. We had a wonderful dinner in the hotel lounge. Centrally located . Very good value for money.

Only had a few beers in here around 4.30 pm. Wished I could have stayed longer, but I had only popped out for some milk.
Had they sold milk I could have stayed longer 😂. Nice welcome from the bar staff. Good selection of beers. Loved it

My family had mother's Day lunch yesterday. We try to go there often usually good food and service sadly not yesterday carrots shouldn't be able to bend and touch each end without breaking! $38 for three sliced of veil 3 half potatoes which been in the heat light to long and one green vegie. I did get my money back thank you but when my wife's dessert came out the girl behind the bar with pink glasses tossed it on the table and stormed off with out saying one word terrible table service. Very disappointed so we will find somewhere else to eat from now on I would send a picture if it would let me this needs to be adresses

Had a meal plus a couple of drinks with friends. The food was great and the service was fantastic. Well worth a visit.

Great stay. |Positives - location was central. Room was clean. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was spacious. Big TV. Friendly staff. Food was good and convenient.|Negatives - lots of stairs. Not great if you have lots of luggage. Floor can be a little noisy.

Food was horrible we left most on our plates the waitress said sorry I will tell the chef ... they didn't come and offer something else was expensive and would never go back

Don't go here for coffee. The food looked good but expensive. Wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair parks are now electric car chargers.

Clean spacious rooms.
Friendly staff.
Aircon made some funny noises and bar fridge didn't make drinks very cold. But apart from that, very happy.

Absolutely stunning renovation and very fitting with the style of the building and the town's heritage! Everything you need provided. The room was incredibly spacious and warm on arrival, and the bed was super comfortable. The restaurant's menus had great choice and room service was prompt and friendly. Loved the little vase with dried florals that came on the room service trays, beautiful touch! All staff I engaged with very friendly and helpful. Great service and the food was delicious. Only a small thing, but was unusual to not have a face towel/cloth. As it was a Friday night, a bit of noise travelled upstairs from diners or gamers. Wasn't overly late and didn't bother me, but others might like to be aware. Quiet room with no other disturbances/noise from the street though!
