We were recommended to head here for dinner and we took the courtesy shuttle. Our driver was absolutely wonderful and a lovely man. On arrival we were greeted by some really nice staff on reception who told us where we could get some dinner. We found a table and I went to the bar where I was served by a couple of lovely ladies. They smiled and were very pleasant. Unfortunately the staff in the bistro let this place down. I approached the counter to order and the young lady turned away from me, yawning. (I get it. She is tired. She may have had a hard day. She needs to yawn). I ordered our meals and when the entrees (mozzarella sticks and garlic bread - see pictures) arrived, they were sort of plonked on the table. The presentation was very lacklustre. Given, the flavour was quite OK. Then our main courses arrived. Again, plonked on the table with an empty bowl on the plate. The young lady told us what the dishes were, then simply said ‘salad’ and walked off. We assumed that the bowl was to be used for self serve salad. That’s fair enough. But how about saying something like ‘the salad bar is over there, please help yourself’. She left with the previous two plates but left empty glasses on the table. We approached the salad bar where a couple of hungry gentlemen were standing, looking at empty salad bowls. A number of staff walked past these empty bowls and ignored them. I asked if there was any more salad and got groaned at. A lovely lady working in the kitchen (she could have been Thai) arranged for some more salad to be placed on the servery, and this was very much appreciated. The salads were very tasty, I have to say. It appeared to us that there was not a lot of direction for the mostly young staff in the bistro. Just a little customer service would improve the feel of the place greatly and make people feel more welcome, as opposed to being bothersome.

We visited as tourists. Everyone we spoke to from the team were great. We had drinks in the cocktail bar, our 8 yr old had a mocktail, all the drinks were very good. Then decided to have the cheese board pictured whilst our daughter played in the supervised play area. Highly recommended

Was a little dubious after reading the negative reviews however we enjoyed the quiet of the lounge area and able to enjoy our drinks / meal in relative peace while watching the rugby league finals. Drinks were cold and the meal quite good (beef short ribs). A welcome respite from the stifling heat outside.

Very disappointing- soo looking forward to visiting the club, have many friends in Perth who recommended this club but was sorely disappointed. My husband and I got charged $24.80 for a small glass of wine and a schooner of beer. When I asked if there was a mistake I was told that the wine (SB) was $16 dollars!! I was given the choice of Oyster Bay or this other wine which was Shaw and Smith and was not made aware of price difference. When I ask if I could speak to the manager ( who turned out to be the barman that served me) he suggested he would swap my wine for the cheaper one!!! Great customer service guys. We are travelling around Australia and will post this on the various grey nomads sites. I was told that it didn’t matter what we posted. Very disappointed 😔

This is a typical club with bars, pokies, kids area, restaurant and a gym. The gym is up with the best in town and open 24/7/365 Access is via a tag operated turnstile near the bottle shop. Gym sign up is at the main reception.

There for our work Christmas party. 40+ people pre-ordered meals weeks before. I had Salmon with salad & chips and it was delicious. Others had the small Rib fillet salad & Chips and they all enjoyed theirs. Dessert was Apple Crumble or Pavlova. Both dishes were lovely. Service was friendly and relatively prompt.

The Mount Isa Irish Club is iconic in the remote mining town providing great entertainment, delicious meals and a cool escape from the heat to relax & unwind with a cold drink & a game of pool.

The Lil'Rish kids playground is pretty great. We needed an Indoor play option so desperately. The staff are lovely as well. the food, however, is not the best for little kids. I love the wraps and having a coffee but simpler, healthier kid- friendly options such as hummus dip with pita bread or veggies, fruit smoothies, fruit salad, smashed avo or scrambled egg on toast. All my kid will eat when we go is chips and ice cream. Discourages me a bit from going because I know that's all they're eating since we can't bring our own kids food in.

The food is nothing to write home about, pretty average at best. The young bistro staff seem to lack common customer service skills and are obviously there to just kill time and take home a paycheck. The older bar staff are lovely and always go above and beyond, the young staff could learn a thing or two from them. We do love the huge kids facilities and the Lil’ Rish playgroup (parents stay and supervise) however the group seems extremely understaffed considering the young crèche kids (ages 2-4) who are there without parents are mostly unattended and just left to roam without any staff supervision while the only 2 staff rostered on tend to food, beverages and other jobs. A review is definitely needed of the procedures here. Overall I probably wouldn’t go here for another meal however the kids love the playground and it’s a great way to burn some energy for a few hours and for only $5 entry it’s fantastic however highly recommend parents staying for supervised play and not the crèche or child watching aspect.

The food has been very ordinary, usually over cooked and bland. Rooms are good for a bed and shower only but could do with a freshen up. Most staff are friendly but need to smile.

I was on the fence after the first night. The food seemed decent from dinner, the service at dinner was disinterested but the cook seemed to care. The room was a bed and shower. What pushed me over the edge, was the lunch actually had a clump of dirt in it larger than a blackberry. Cut it open and there were roots and all. At dinner the second night, they got the order wrong and made me wait for 10 minutes to fix it. So the food wasn't as warm by the time I was actually able to eat it. It's probably hit or miss, hard to tell over just a few days.

I first entered the Mt Isa Irish Club in 1993. Although not a local, I have been there a few times since. Was in town for business this week 15 - 21 April and have eaten there twice, mostly for the big screens to watch the footy with a large group. The food is not too bad but the service in this place is absolutely awful. I wouldn't usually leave a bad review but to say the staff were absolutely disinterested in anything they were doing is an understatement. I don't think I have ever come across young bar staff who couldn't have cared less about their clientele or service... they were absolutely ordinary. Sad really because back in the 90's, north western hospitality was incredible. When you walk into a place and pick up the tab to the tune of $500, a smile and a thank you from the bar staff isn't too much to ask is it?

If I could leave a negative star score I would! By 7 there was stuff all food. No roast potatoes as the chef doesn't know how to do his job properly and count and the pork crackle had been dropped in the deep fryer and burnt because it wasnt prepared and salted properly so it didn't crackle. Paid $30 and couldn't even fill 1/4 of the container. Absolute joke. Won't be going back and definitely won't be recommend anyone else go there either.

I and my partner was walking in and then the receptionist decides to pull my partner to the side for a id check clearly because she is indigenous little did they know under my light skin is a indigenous fellow aswell but did not bother to ask me until my partner said her peace then decided to check mine but let the other younger girls walk straight in that was like 2 metres ahead of us and still tried to deny that no one walked in infront of us clearly the Irish club is a racial place against indigenous people so just be aware if your indigenous stay clear from them take your money else where as there's coconut people working there ps if you ain't dressed in a certain way they will judge you off the bat

Great pool tables. Food was good if you just like a good feed, nothing fancy. Beer was cold served in a clean glass. Decor is unique. We had a good time looking at the different coats of arms. Grumpy bar tender, we had to repeat ourselves four times when ordering a Bacardi and coke, I don’t think he knew what it was.

Great Club to visit while in Mt Isa. Courtesy bus service from our caravan park. Buffet dinner $30 pp great value. The staff very welcoming and friendly especially the lady I think her name was Vinney in the Gaming room Bar made our stay memorable. I spent all of my working career in hospitality & Vinney is a natural. Thanks Irish Club

From the outside the building is very impressive. It is also impressive inside. Unfortunately the lunch menu does not live up to the first impression. The menu is very limited. My wife and I both had seafood basket. It was very ordinary. I think it was frozen from a food supplier and reheated. There was a large amount of chips. ||I bought a “pint” of Guinness. I think the pint was about 15 ounces and the stout was relatively flat.||Overall, I was disappointed.

For the largest Irish club in the world outside of Ireland, the staff are blunt and disinterested who serve horrendous food. It's a busy and eventful place but the patronage are a bunch of gronks. A really awful place I avoid. I haven't been in a year and going back just makes me miserable I didn't make it two years, three years, forever...

Food was nice. Easy to order & decent pub style meals. Table service was very mediocre. Meals were brought to the table & the waitress just stood there. We had to ask what meals she had (2 couples with separate orders) & then they were passed across the table. Are wait staff not taught how to serve meals anymore? Then when we'd finished the waitress returned & grunted at us. We worked out she was asking if we'd finished. I'd come back but won't expect trained wait staff.

Attended the club for the first time in many years. I was very impressed with the changes made to the club. However, I was surprised that there was no signage, or, none I could see, directing me to a private function. Having said that, the service and food for the function was very good. Definitely recommend a visit.

Attended the ANZAC Day luncheon after the morning memorial services and parade. As Yank military veterans, learned much about the traditions associated with remembering those who have served. Still do not fully understand "2 Up" beyond the tossing of 2 coins and winning or losing even odds bets for matching (heads or tails) pairs or tossing "ODDS" (1 head and 1 tail). Food was served buffet style with wide selections available for meats, sides, and desserts.

A Delightful Experience at Irish Club: A Fusion of Irish Cuisine and Hospitality I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Irish Club, and I must say it was an absolute delight. Located in the heart of the city, this charming restaurant offers a unique fusion of Irish cuisine and warm hospitality. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the cozy and inviting atmosphere that exuded an authentic Irish charm. The restaurant's interior is tastefully decorated, with traditional Irish elements combined with modern touches. The dim lighting and comfortable seating create a relaxed ambiance, perfect for an intimate dinner or a gathering with friends. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and a friendly demeanor, making me feel instantly welcome. Now let's talk about the highlight of the Irish Club – the food. The menu boasts an extensive selection of Irish-inspired dishes, prepared with the freshest ingredients and a creative twist. As a fan of traditional Irish cuisine, I was thrilled to see classics like Irish stew, fish and chips, and shepherd's pie on the menu. Each dish I ordered was a masterpiece of flavors, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. One standout dish that I highly recommend is their Guinness-infused beef stew. The tender chunks of beef, paired with hearty root vegetables, were braised to melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The rich and robust flavors of the stew were enhanced by the unmistakable taste of Guinness, creating a truly memorable culinary experience. Another dish that left a lasting impression was the seafood platter. It showcased a delightful assortment of fresh seafood, including succulent prawns, plump mussels, and perfectly seared scallops. The seafood was cooked with finesse, highlighting its natural flavors and accompanied by a tangy lemon-butter sauce that added a delightful zing. The Irish Club also boasts an impressive selection of beverages, including a wide array of Irish whiskies and a well-curated beer list. The knowledgeable staff was more than happy to recommend pairings to complement my meal, further enhancing the overall dining experience. Service at the Irish Club was exceptional. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were quick to offer suggestions and accommodate any dietary preferences or restrictions. Despite the restaurant's popularity, I never felt rushed, and the pacing of the courses was just right, allowing me to savor each dish at my own pace. Overall, my experience at the Irish Club was nothing short of outstanding. The combination of delicious food, warm hospitality, and authentic Irish ambiance makes it a true gem in the city's culinary scene. Whether you're looking for a cozy dinner for two or a place to celebrate with friends, the Irish Club is a must-visit. I can't wait to return and explore more of their tantalizing menu offerings.
