Worst service I've ever received at a pokies I spent 10mins here and will never go back the bar woman argued with me because she didn't see me check in and refused to do the complimentary soft drink while I was playing pokies that's basically the only pokies in Adelaide that doesn't do it highly recommend people to keep walking there's plenty of other good pubs close by

Worst nachos I've ever had. They were burnt, it had excessive jalapeños moulded in to the whole mountain.
The sour cream and avocado paste were horrible "blobs from a jar" slapped on the top.
I lost my apatite after trying to grab some hard, tasteless burnt corn chips. The whole thing looked like barf. Never again!

We visited Mond of long weekend 2/10/23. Was very quiet. We had a lovely bar staff member who was friendly and polite. Even in the blackout, she kept us informed of what was happening.

Well... how disappointing. 45 min wait for entree garlic bread (burnt ) and kids meal. Another customer was completely disregarded when asking for his. Then another 20min for the mains to come, 1 by 1. Total wait time was 1hr. (Total people there inc us was 12) Main meal flathead was same size as kids meal. Exorbitant pricing for what was presented. Won't be going back.

We have often had a good meal at the Newby, decided to go again, rang to book a table and was informed that THEY DONT SERVE MEALS ANY MORE, AND HAVENT DONE SO FOR 3 YEARS, if thats the case they should update their web site Rob Fulton

Waited over an hour and 15 minutes for our meal. We ordered in groups before it got busy and because we were a large table (10) they served us last. The childrens meals came out with everyone elses and not many chips on the plate.!!!!! And the salad bar was empty! We will not be return! !! Disgusted and not happy!!

Terrible food and service. Waitress had bad attitude fish taste like it had been microwaved and beef schnitzel dry like an old boot. My son also got sick after eat my mix grill from the steak as it didn't taste right. Wouldn't not eat here or recommend this place.

Stylish pub was taken back by the roof to floor urinal, super cool. Staff were friendly and a pleasure to be served by. Their standard drink prices are a nice change of pace from alot of other places that are typically more expensive. Will be going back at some point to try out the food they sell there

Staff do an excellent job in a harsh inviroment. If only the government would let people know that alcohol is a depressant then we can all drink in moderation and have fun. Occasionally the staff need to deal with people who have not received the empathy they have needed in the community and expect the pub to deliver it. If you are looking for an emotional connection then go to GROW mental health groups and not to any pub. I do however highly recommend every staff member in their attempt to keep the peace and therefor making it a safe pub.

Ordered several meal in a setting meals came out delayed but fresh and hot we ordered schnitzels the chicken schnitzel was slightly salty and mushroom gravy tasteless. Withstanding that we will go again.

Nice cozy place to catch up with friends. Food portions were generous. The salad bar had a good choice. Service was quick and courteous. Definitely a place to visit if you are in Port Adelaide.

New chef. A visit at lunch time. I went with the standard snitty beef. Salad bar was nice and had a bit to offer. Staff were friendly and environment clean and fresh. Snitzel was very low grade, sour, tuff, gluey, gluggy and grey, probably below average pub fare, I decided to leave it. Managment kindly offered a free drink and stood by their substandard snitty choice. I appreciated the sentiment, but in todays times I dont need to settle for below average.

Just experience the worst schnitzel meal ever. The beef schnitzel was full of sinew and inedible. Advised the staff and was offered a free drink - we declined as this is not why we complained. We would have appreciated some feedback from the chef or manager as to why the quality was so poor. We will not return.

I think the reviews listed are very old as my recent experience in dining at the Newie in February was fantastic. I would go as far as to say that the food is best pub fare in Adelaide. Wine list is comprehensive, beer selection on tap and packaged great and the staff are sensational. Would recommend to those who have not visited the best kept secret in Port Adelaide to 'do yourselves a favour' (thanks Molly!). We will be back and will be bringing others with us. Old reviews have done their job as management must have listened and addressed comments as everything is fantastic now!

it has great service and has the best chips and gravy, it has a awesome salad bar. fresh food and lovely staff. the owner is very nice. i would definitely go there agian

I remember having a great night out at the Newy about 10 years ago when they renovated.
I went again today and gosh, how low it has sunk. You get the sense it’s only clinging to life because of the gaming room, which must be the saddest collection of poker machines in Australia. A dark little cave overfilled with ancient coin operated machines and a handful of bogans. The woman at the bar was also weirdly rude.
I’ll try it again in another 10 years.

I ordered a pale ale and the bartender gave me a glass of cloudy sludge. When I said I don't want that sludge, I was told that the keg had just been changed. I said it's disgusting. I was then told people love it like that. In 50 years going to the pub, I have never been sold a cloudy dirty beer and told that people love it like that. The person was rude and I said, I can't believe you think I'm going to drink that. How rude. One thing I know. Pubs don't last long that try to sell dregs. I will never go there again.

I had the oven baked Atlantic salmon, it was over cooked and very dry. The veg that came in the couscous tasted like it came out of a 2 minute noodle packet. My partner had the seafood basket, he said everything was fine except the fish, which was tasteless. Staff amazing, setting beautiful, need to work on the food guys, used to be fantastic.

Had a meal at the Newmarket Hotel two weeks ago and was expecting a really nice meal going by the advert out the front claiming a 'New Chef' etc. I had a schnitzel served with chips and a few sprouts, I was surprised that they did not serve slices of lemon which is the traditional accompaniment when serving plain schnitzel. They have a salad bar and the salads were not fresh when I took my choices to the table I could smell the cucumber was off and stank so rancid that I couldn't stand the smell and had to move the plate of salad away from me. When we left I told the waitress, when she came to collect the plates and she took it to the kitchen and came back a short time letter and said someone (the chef? not sure) couldn't smell anything but she could and thought it was the cabbage in the coleslaw. The salads all looked like the ones sold in Coles. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for a meal, such a shame because I had always had a good meal there in the past. The only good thing I have to say is that the wait and bar staff were friendly.

Awesome staff awesome food n awesome service friendly staff n I was there when it was being held up by a gun welding robbery n they got calm n dealt with it with bravery n not alarming us which could've put us in danger but she kept her wits about her n dealt with bravery they should've received a bravery award recommend the friendly fully equipped to cater for everyone

Awesome meals in a modern open fit out. The surf & turf rib eye steak is a generous 400 grams & at only $28.90 is great value for money. Highly recommended.
