Wow. I came for lunch on a Wednesday 25/09/2019 and the Chicken Schnitz burger and chips were PHENOMENAL. The burger had the perfect amount of aioli, the buns were fresh, the lettuce and tomato were fresh, the cheese was nicely melty, the chicken schnitzel itself was lovely (cooked well, crispy and perfect size) and the chips were above average - hardly any dud chips (a dud chip is a solid, stocky chip with no crisp). Also the ratio of chips was perfect. The staff were polite and friendly, the meal came out within 10 minutes of ordering and the outdoor area had a nice ambience. I've passed over the Northo based on a not-so-great experience a year or so back, but based on today's food, it is completely redeemed.This is easily my favorite restaurant in town now and based on this meal I will definitely be back for lunch. 5/5. Went there with extended family tonight. Three of us had porterhouse steak, and all three of them were rough. Lots of gristle in each one, but no point complaining because they already know what quality of meat they are buying. I would have much preferred to pay an extra $6 (making it $36) and had a nice steak.

We enjoyed our lunch today at the North Eastern Hotel. We had porterhouse steak, Wagu beef burger and Salt and pepper calamari. They were all well presented and very tasty. The beer garden is large and pet friendly.
Would love to see a gardener let loose on the beautiful space there, could be amazing.
We are locals, will be back. ❤️

Walked in at 2.25 pm and the kitchen closed at 2 pm. Waitress said they could make us a snack - which we were happy with. However the chef came out and offered to make us whatever we wanted. Great food presented with a smile.

The beautiful Art Deco facade that was brought to our attention on google Maps wanting to go and have a pub meal, the North Eastern, was chosen.
We've been back twice because the meals have been really good and with a nice selection. Knew to Wangaratta, we will be trying the other pubs around town, I reviewed one pub in Wang and won't be returning. Definitely, the North Eastern we will keep returning to.

Simple yet effective country pub
Base range of emails at good prices.
Steak was great, the squid was just fried pack stuff but what do you expect at that price.
At least the chips were cooked well, and the kids nuggets and chips again was affordable, cooked well.
Would come back.

Old pub in need of renovation but very friendly and relaxed atmosphere with great staff. This pub is like the old fashioned friendly pubs of yesteryear. If you don’t care about tired old carpet and paintwork this is a great pub. Huge beer garden. They didn’t even ask us to leave at closing time.

Nice pub, with beer garden and nice restaurant. The staff here are quite good and polite, there are many selections of alcoholic beverages available. The restaurant is slightly small however there is more seating outdoors. This is a great place to visit in summer to enjoy the beer garden. The food is good, typical pub meals. The layout of the building let's this place down a bit as there are many obstacles that could be removed to make this place more welcoming. I have always enjoyed myself here however I am not a fan of this venue and I feel there are better places in town to enjoy.

My meal was good but beef was so grissley, service good.
Told staff meal flavour was very good but poor quality meat, reply i will tell the chef....the end.
The chef would have already known meat was poor but covered it in sauce. Sorry but wont be going back.

Lunch was first class highly recommended. We sat outside due to four legged Mr Dudley great. No real down side but does need a little love and care outside but l appreciate that we have some issues with some bloody disease

Lovely lunch following the black dog ride for suicide.... the waitress was fantastic and really easy to work with... great group of motorbike riders... all over a great day

Im not from Wang, but grew up here, so this was the 2nd time I have had a meal here in the last 10 years.
Once was a dinner booking for a school reunion about 8 yeats ago and this time, mid feb '24.
Both times found a very basic dining area. Owners definitely need to spend some money to improve the dining experience.
Group of about 10 of us this time.
Pot & parma night. 2 parmas had to be sent back to the kitchen. Parmas had obviously been cooked earlier and re fried as ordered. Burnt crust, dry old looking chicken inside. One replacement parma was no better the so rather than wait again the person just left it.
Wait staff apologised and provided excellent service,
Meals arrived in drbs and drabs, and it was only a Tuesday night, not a busy Saturday night. Some people in our group had finished their meal before others had received theirs.
I wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't eat there again.

I love having lunch here. Whether it be a parmi or lambs fry it's always bloody lovely. The bar staff are great as is the service. I'll let you in on a little secret. The bottle shop. Affordable selection of good wines. Some spirits are cheaper than BWS. Maybe cheaper than Dan's. Go sit in the bar for a bit of 'old school' country pubbing.

Friendly service, with great food.
Lunch time crowd was minimal, ashame as very clean and warm.
Pricing was reasonable, will definitely go again and make it a regular bistro stop.

Eat in Wangaratta on a fortnight based and like to share my money around but Lot of reviews read very good but my experience was very poor ordered roast of the day pork came out with lots of vegetables which were hard covering 3 pieces of pork all very hard as if reheated a piece of so called crackly size of my phone over the 3 pieces hard as rubber couldn’t cut it very disappointing after recommended being a Monday night not sure if I got the leftovers from the weekend 😢

Came here for dinner while travelling through. Great meals. Steaks great quality. A\C working well on a hot day. Not to mention great pricing and friendly staff. Thanks and will be back next time

Booked a table for 20+ people for 5, got there at 5 and our tables weren’t set up, they were dirty, the outdoor chairs where rotten, mouldy, covered in bird crap and scattered all over the yard. We were about to spend hundreds there, so we called another pub and moved locations. Not to mention the once unreal beer garden is now just run down, lawn over grown. The young ladies took our feedback well however.

Big variety of parmas hoping that it may be what they are known for,
Pre crumbed love heart chicken
……disaster.
Ordered 2 scotch fillets, was served 2 porterhouse steaks. Meat was cold and tasted rubbish.
Dont order the cheesy garlic bread as you may not see it on your plate.

A good pla e for a pub meal. A little run down and the appearance is not all that welcoming, however once there, staff we courteous and friendly. Chicken parmigiana was good. Burger on specials board was good also. If you are after a no fuss eat, this will serve you well.

Absolutely horrendous food. I ordered salt and pepper squid with vegetables. Vegetables were coated with Grease, carrot was burnt black, a third of the chips were green so unable to eat them and the salt and pepper squid was deep fried for about half an hour too long. And to top it all off there was a big piece of baking paper in with the vegetables. Other family member ordered an entree and a main that came out straight after each other……. In the time it took her to walk back to the kitchen, pick up the main meal, and then walk back to our table and put it down. To say that the meals was substandard is a gross understatement. They need to get rid of the so called “cook” and hire an actual chef. Our table of eight diners, only three of them said their meal was ok, and two of whom were children with fish and chips, and one very easy to please adult that had a burger.
