Went to Olims after the Anzac dawn service. Everything set up for mass service including breakfast. Paid $21 for an extremely poorly executed bacon and eggs. Cold upon arrival which from the kitchen was pretty remarkable. Toast pretty much slightly cooked bread. Soggy. One bacon rasher, some under seasoned scrambled eggs and baked beans. Small portions. Probably $5 of food of sub par quality. The kind of gouge we expect from popular venues on Anzac Day.

Totally missed the mark on cooking steaks. Medium rare order served well done. Rump was thin small and dry. Sirloin was average serve but very overcooked. The smoked meat box was all dry meat. My friend only ate a third of it. Maybe we should have ordered burgers, as the place has like a cheap pub feel. Order and pay at bar, get your own cutlery and such. Cannot recommend.

This is a great restaurant to visit while you are in Canberra. It comes with lots of history and has a great atmosphere. We come here every time when in Canberra, because of the wonderful service and kind and friendly staff. The beef burger is none like any other I have tried, and the chicken parmy is definitely something everyone should try while there as well.

The Pulled Pork Burger. WOW, AMAZING! I'm usually hesitant ordering pork, because I am very fussy on cooking pork, but these guys nailed it. Super soft bun, huge amounts of perfectly cooked and pulled pork and just the right amount of filling. Can't wait to go back to Canberra and get another.

The prawn pappardelle pasta was delicious, the pasta was light and silky, I’m guessing made in house and the braised pork shoulder was melt in the mouth with lovely sides. It was a busy Saturday night but service was great too. Cosy and casual dining - we will be back.

The parma was very good, but the chips were disappointingly only a small serve of shoestring french fries, not actually real chips like before. The so called happy hour isn't really a happy hour anymore given only the tap drinks drop to $6.50, but most of the drinks on tap are normally $6.50 all day anyway, very misleading. It might explain why the bar was empty.

The lamb burger was really nice. The chips weren't fantastic but I ate most of them! My friend had the salmon which was wrapped in something and said it tasted very nice indeed. No pics sorry.

The Barramundi was a great option and caters for the gluten free / lactose free needs. Plenty of seating, good drink options, lively service. Tasty pub meal indeed! A nice and relaxing dinner option that's still great quality, but doesn't need the "fancy". Casual date night success! You can get sauce on the side which is good if someone else wants it for their meal!

Place isn’t fancy and can be a little rough sometimes as lots of governemnt housing nearby. Staff seem to be overworked but are trying their best. Despite that, the food is pretty decent to above average pub grub and it’s a decent place to get a drink. Will be back.

One of the worst experiences having dinner in Canberra, and an Accor hotel. Cold food had to be sent back then reheat one meal deliver back to us the second didn’t come until after a further 10 or more minutes. Nacho was $25 cold mince (not beef) and not fresh avocado (dip instead) nothing fresh. Very poor service. However the drinks were good, great selection.

Not exactly sure when $37 for a parma and a beer constituted ‘big meals at small prices’. Apathetic wait staff and miserable outdoor area with crows pecking at uncleared plates. Don’t waste your money!

My wife had the Greek Salad which she said was quite good. I had the "Beef Nachos." Don't order the Beef Nachos. It equally could have been called sour cream with corn chips or salsa with corn chips or even guacamole with corn chips as there was a great dollop of each on the corn chips with little beef. These condiments are nice to have as a side to the beef which is meant to be the main part of the meal, with the corn chips of course. I left half of it on the plate. Very disappointing.

Just had the nachos and I would have to say they are the worst I have ever had. All bland chips little meat and a lot of Sour cream. No taste. Very disappointing

I would not recommend the bar and bistro. The food was expensive (except for the limited Tuesday specials) and the decor was quite stark. The caesar salad was small for a main and had one small egg, no anchovies and little flavour. A surcharge was added to every order from the bar. I assume this was a credit card fee.

In decline. Over cooked steak. Ordered medium rare and got well done thong. Even the once beautiful chicken parma seems to just be a schnitzel. Portion size of the sides is much smaller. Service staff clearing the table while some in the group were still eating.

Had a lunch 😋 at the Olims Bistro for the first time in decades, walked 🚶‍♂️ 😋 in the place looked so Wonderful 👌. The staff is helpful and friendly, we ordered the food at the Bistro side 😋, and later our food 😋 came. Had Garlic Bread 🍞 Turkish with Cheese 🧀, Soup 🍲 of the day 😋, Ham and Pea soup 🍲, and Chicken 🐔 Burger 🍔 and Chips, and with Bangers and Mash and vegetables 😋 👌, a Glass of Lift and Lemonade I. and a Schooner I of Sydney Pale Ale 🍺 . Wonderful place to come here to have lunch or dinner 🍽 at Olims Bistro, they make wonderful dishes 😋 you will come back again and again 😋. Decades ago that I come here for a dance 🕺 at Hotel 🏨 Ainslie and later when I come in age to have my first drink 🍸 😄 😅. During the 1940s the Department of the Interior took over the hotel for public service accommodation. In the 1950s it again became a licensed hotel 🏨. With few clubs in Canberra, the Hotel Ainslie was very busy hosting dancers and weddings 💑 in the 1950s and '60s. 'Politics in the Pub ' was a highlight of the 1980s. University students were major contributors to the prosperity of the Hotel 🏨 in the 1960s, gathering 😀 in the beer 🍺 😀 garden 😀 almost exclusively. The Hotel 🏨 is over 96 years old and has had several times new name changes from 1927 to 1989 called Ainslie Hotel, then 1989 Olims Hotel Canberra, and in 2011 it is now Mercure Canberra.

Food leaves more to be desired. Carbonara was not bad, however pulled pork was just a slab of meat which was hard to cut into and tasted bland.

Every time we go to Canberra we make a point of going for a meal In this restaurant. We went last Saturday and we’re so impressed we returned on Monday. I’ll admit that I’m always impressed with Dashni. She is so so efficient, polite and switched on. The meals are absolutely delicious and the whole experience is topped of by the great staff. Dashni is terrific as is Chris as he runs the restaurant/bistro yet always makes time to engage with the patrons. We will definitely return as this place is actually very special within the Canberra environment. We just love it. Thank you 🙏

A little slice of Canberra's history that has remained grounded and stands proud in defiance of pretty, newer bars. What this place may lack in a cocktail menu, it more than makes up for in friendly staff, the welcoming table of regulars, and great beers on tap for great prices. Looking for a spot for a pint with a coupla mates? Stop looking, you found it.
