What an experience! And not in a good way! We were a group of 4: 2 adults, 1 teenager and 1 child. First up: I ordered salmon off the menu but was told they had no salmon and that I could have flounder instead. However, I chose the lemon pepper squid SALAD (served with a side of chips and lemon lime aioli, as stated on the menu). While waiting we watched a staff member delivering a salmon meal to another staff member seated next to us...no salmon??? The squid arrived on a LARGE bed of chips, with a SMALL spoonful of 'salad', and plain tartare. Second: we decided to order dessert for all of us. The mango cheesecake was mousse on a hard base; not good. The banana split was missing the choc topping that was ordered; not brilliant but ok. The choc cake was smothered in extremely sour raspberry sauce; overpowered and average. The child's icecream, ordered with strawberry topping arrived with banana topping; really??!! Plus, we were all given SOUP spoons for our desserts! Just a suggestion, but maybe there was a language barrier with the guy we ordered from...? Overall...edible food, nice outlook but very, very average on every other score and won't rush back.

What a fantastic place to eat. The meal was so yummy and the place had plenty of tables. The staff are so friendly and accommodating and best of all our kids actually enjoyed their meal. They had the kids fish and chips and schnitzel and chips. And the oyster tasting platter is a must

We stayed in a budget room, small but adequate for an overnight stay. Lovely comfy bed and pillows, very clean, a very pretty setting on the waters edge. Great choice of meals and staff were friendly and helpful

Went for dinner tonight visiting from WA Very very disappointed all 3 of us had cold food when it was finally delivered after a long wait. Told wait staff the meals were cold and was basically ignored. All 3 have decided that we will not ever bother going back there my friends live close by to this venue. I will not recommend this place to any friends planning to visit the area.

This was a fantastic place to stay the night before our Maria Island trip. The location is perfect for a Maria Island excursion. Don't be fooled by the road side view of the hotel, we had a wonderful room with a back patio and nice view of the water and field in back of the hotel. We saw a pair of roos hop by as we were sitting on the lovely back deck, watching the sunset and moon-rise. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and we felt very welcome. We had dinner there which was convenient and absolutely fantastic. My husband said it was the best salmon he ever had, which had a wonderful crispy skin. I enjoyed the lamb stew, terrific! Our waitress was so fun and helpful, zooming around the floor, taking care of everything, and the (owner?) on check in was very friendly, giving us all the info we needed. We highly recommend this hotel!

The room was large, light & clean. We had 2 single beds. Fresh linen & comfy pillows. Large windows onto a small balcony with table & chairs, overlooking the Orford river to Maria Island. Perfect for my sister & myself. Easy access to river & bird sanctury walks.

The restaurant has always been a good pick for our family, but after not having been for a few months and coming back for a meal, I was quite disappointed. The parmi I had was amazing, as were the chips, but can't say I was a huge fan of the lettuce and cabbage (salad). The salad used to amazing with a really nice dressing and variety of vegetables but now it's just dry lettuce and sliced cabbage with a piece of grated cheese every few scoops.

Stopped off to have a meal. The location is great with the dining room looking out to the water. The food was lovely, service great. Being a hotel they have all the usual facilities. Would I go there again sure would.

Orford has been my paradise for as long as i can remember. Blue Waters has great rooms, very extensive menu and drinks to select from. Lots of open space, decks etc. Great staff, all with happy smiles led by the great licensee Greg Brown. Thoroughly recommend

Myself and my girlfriend met some friends there on a Saturday. Had 3 drinks. All in all a good time. We thought we would return the next day for lunch. This time the service was rude & awful. It was a hot day so my partner wore summer clothes, the bar tender (early 50’s female) made extremely rude & judgey comments on her attire as if she was naked. Then she told us this is a “family friendly” establishment. Yet in the outside dining area there were adults smoking on the same table at kids were eating! After all of that she asked what we would like to order?! The place made us feel discriminated against. I’ll be spreading the word.

Lovely location right by the beach. Large room with good facilities. What was amazing was a Saturday night stay, with a band at the pub- but it was quiet in our room :-) Food was good as standard pub food… would be nice if pub / restaurant offered coffee and breakfast as well

Lovely fresh, clean and bright room. Comfy and soft bed. Fantastic hot shower. Well located right near the water with lovely walking track. I unfortunately had very loud neighbors that kept me awake until about 1am, but this was the only negative (and nothing the venue could've done.) Would definitely stay again.

I stayed here before exploring Maria Island. I'd say the best hotel I stayed in Tasmania. It's a humble and clean hotel, but yet they're offering luxurious experience. If you're a morning person, wake up before the sunrise and walk behind the hotel to catch the sunrise with Maria Island in the background. Amazingly stunning. Thanks to friendly staff who helped me to secure my wallet when I accidentally misplaced it, you're the best!

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this pub. The food took a staggering 1.5 hours to arrive, and when it finally did, it was nothing short of terrible. The long wait only added insult to injury, making the overall dining experience a complete letdown. I won't be returning anytime soon.

Great room - lovely and spacious ( our bathroom did have a funky smell about it though😕). Outside veranda with an outdoor dining table and outdoor lounge was nice…..however our room was right next to the hotel’s outside dining area and because our rear veranda wasn’t private, we had numerous patrons walk right up to us to smoke and make personal phone calls. I know this is a hotel but try enjoying your night listening to intoxicated swearing patrons with their cigarette smoke drifting into your room! The noise was impossible to ignore until things quieted down after 10pm. Big comfortable bed and very good kitchenette. If you don’t clean your dishes, you will be charged an extra $30. If you were to eliminate the hotel, the room was perfect.

Great lunch stop while traveling up the coast. The fish tacos are excellent and the fries out of this world. Our server was delightful—sweet and funny.

Great location within easy walking distance of estuary, beach and river. Easy location for food and the shops too. Staff were very friendly and fitted us in last minute. Room was clean and great to have a couch as well as table/chairs and seats in our King room.

Disappointing 3/2/2024 - we ordered 4 adults meals and 3 kids meals for takeaway. Kids meals are advertised to include a soft drink and ice cream each. Upon realising we had not received either I went back in to ask. The supervisor (woman early 50s) reluctantly organised ice cream in a takeaway container. When I asked about the soft drinks I was told "no, you're taking advantage" as she walked away. The other staff members looked apologetic, and I got the impression that this individual is often rude to others. If kids meal extras aren't included for takeaway that's fine, but advertise it as such - and don't belittle your customers for holding the business to account for a broken promise. My experience with this individual ruined our dining experience on this occasion. Multiple reviews on here seem to reference the poor service and attitude of the same individual, indicating an ongoing failure of the owners and management. Months later and no response from Orford Blue Waters Hotel - either they don't care or think they can get away with it in a small town with limited dining options. Overall, this is a shining example of everything that's wrong with Tasmania - small-minded nepotism at its finest. Disappointing and shameful.

Clean well appointed rooms and great country pub meals & atmosphere are just a few of the things offered here. The staff were helpful and welcoming but very busy as it was New Year’s Eve, A fantastic location for visiting Maria island at a very reasonable price.

Called into Blue waters last night for dinner, after ordering at 6:10pm we finally received our meals at 8:15pm. The seafood linguine was bland with 4 small scallops and 3 small prawns, the chips were dry and as if they had been reheated and the beef schnitzel was tough and dry. Worst pub feed I’ve had for a long time and we eat out at least twice a week… do not recommend!

Beautiful no fuss...no frills ... quick in and out of hotel. Parking in front. Clean well appointed room with hot shower. Close to everything. Family friendly back landing. Outdoor vista to river. Walking trails around. Music and family pub next door. Good food .... decent service staff. And the tariff is under par compared to others....

Attended bistro with a group of friends on a Sat night. Many of our group ordered the roast lamb and all at our table were served roasts that were luke warm. One of our group had pork spare ribs that was so tough she had to send it back. The general consensus in our group is that we will not be going back and would not recommend the meals especially at the prices.

A short drive from Hobart Airport, you will find this motel. Rooms basic but very clean and with everything needed for an overnight stop. Lovely waterside walk.

A lovely place to stay in a beautiful part of Tasmania. From our room we could see the water and there is a great walking track along the foreshore where friendly neighbours are ready for a chat. We had dinner in the Bistro where Chelsea was there to greet and seat us. The meals were delicious and good size portions. The room was spacious and clean with Tea & Coffee a kettle and a toaster. A Comfortable couch to sit on to watch the TV and a very large bed . The bathroom had a floor level good sized shower. Very enjoyable stay.

A big thanks to Liam and Leah and all the staff for making us welcome. We stayed in a king room very clean - thanks room attendant. This hotel is a gem with it's own restaurant. I booked it over the phone (after 9am) and received an email confirmation straight away. It's not very well sign posted so you could sail right past. My advice is stay there to refresh at the bar and food then a comfy bed. There is a small council playground out back but also an access road so keep an eye on the little ones
