We visited the hotels to see the murals in the hotel & ended up having a pub lunch. All the murals are amazing & very well done. We had schnitzels for lunch that were very good. Very interesting visit to this famous hotel. Very fast service, lots of history.

We stayed at the Pricilla and it was a really cool and fun experience. It was pretty good for the price and it was right on the Main Street which was convenient. Only thing which doesn’t make it 5 stars is that a lot of the things in the room seemed faulty/broken. The shower sprayed water everywhere soaking the floor and we had to mop it up with towels, the air con in the smaller bedroom would go to the temp you set for 10 seconds then go back to 20 degrees, the water from the tap is hot, little things were broken like the kettle handle and the freezer controls. Otherwise it was great but the room might need some maintenance.

Went for dinner (n/a review on rooms) :) - excellently cooked steak to our preference - interesting murals - quick and polite service - they've lent in to the Priscilla connection and Broken Heel Festival - great activities for kids during the meal :( - Closed for lunch when we were there - memorabilia not available during dinner - large high heel not available to see when we were there

Went for dinner here for the second time after not being too impressed the first time with the service and I must say although pleasant the staff seemed a little overwhelmed. Our Indian meal was nice much nicer to what I ate the first time. The atmosphere is awesome but I noticed a sign saying they want you to pay to take photos. Seriously? People go to take photos and stop for a meal or a drink. My verdict is still out on this place.

We had dinner which was expensive really, quite nice, but an expensive filet Mignon, good, but with bearnaise sauce which was tasteless, so probably a packet mix or something: just don't offer it!

We enjoyed a delicious meal in the Palace Hotel. My Porterhouse was cooked exceptionally well and it was a very tasty enjoyable dish. My wife enjoyed the Chilli Garlic Prawns in Spagetti. Staff were fantastic. Overall 10/10.

Visited this pub twice during our stay in Broken Hill. Lovely pub. We love Aussie pubs and have visited many over the years. BUT, on the second night the barman, with the English accent, was rude, hardly made eye contact, he treated me like a naughty child, I felt belittled by him. This was a very disappointing end to our stay in Broken Hill, where up to then everyone we met was absolutely amazing

Visited this iconic pub for dinner with our family, including two 10 year olds. Honestly, the best meal we had eaten in our almost 4 weeks on the road at this point! The staff were super friendly and accommodating and encouraged us to enjoy the hotel and look at the amazing mural wall art.

This review is from about six months ago. I had the most delicious vegan and gluten free pasta I have ever eaten, at the Palace Hotel. All too often, restaurants throw in a cursory meal to cater to this group, that doesn't taste great. Not so here! The Palace hotel kitchen served up a perfectly cooked, tasty, moist and textured pasta that I still remember! Love this pub. Great atmos, amazing building and excellent staff.

They obviously rely on the movie to get business…we popped in for lunch while passing through because we figured it would be good given the tourist trade. Service was atrocious.. The bar staff were either rude, or non-existent on a quiet (dead) Friday early afternoon. Then the food came out…goodness me! I ordered a beef schnitzel - it might have been beef in a previous life, but what I was served was a piece of leather with crumbs stuck on it. But at least it was overpriced!!! I kid you not, $25 for a schnitzel with chips that nearly broke my teeth (and bent the fork) trying to deal with it. The black haired woman behind the bar “serving” acted as if she wanted you to go anywhere else in town because she couldn’t cope with the 3 other customers in the place. Simply…AWFUL.

The pub is iconic since "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" was made there in 1994. I had a steak for dinner, the meat was deliciously tender and perfectly cooked. The staff was helpful and friendly. I really enjoyed my experience. I recommend this pub for a nice meal? 👍🏾

Stopped here for a beer and was initially blown away because of the unexpected artwork (murals). On closer inspection it was cold and soulless. All the old furniture was worn out and beyond having “character”. Definitely worth a look however just because it is so quirky.

Stayed one night in a balcony room which was fine. Ate here once before so knew to give it a miss. Plenty of reviews explaining why. The internet is terrible. So don't log into Netflix and expect to watch a complete episode of anything on the generously sized TV. It's a typical old pub, the room smells a bit, creaking floors, thin walls and all a bit shabby around the edges but lots of character and better than a soulless motel.

Slow and lethargic service. Expensive ($38.50 for an unimpressive beef vindaloo). A charming restaurant but overall a disappointing experience.

Rooms are old style with character, good shower, and hot water coming through quickly. There is a large and spacious balcony off rooms. It is difficult to make contact by phone or email over weekends, reception closed, but there is an emergency number. Reception open during the week and personnel very helpful and pleasant. The location is central to everything. Will definitely stay here again.

On a recent stay in Broken Hill, we did what all visitors do and we visited the Palace Hotel for a drink and to discover the interesting architecture and murals in the building. It is certainly something to see and we are glad we did so. When we visited the Palace Hotel, we were not able to take a photo of the outside of the building because there was construction work being carried out on the frontage, which spoiled the appearance of the building.

Great atmosphere in an historic building. Murals on walls and ceilings are amazing and worth the trip to Broken Hill. Nine of us attended for dinner, and all meals were top quality. Pork Belly was cooked to perfection, with a crisp and crunchy top. Recommend making a reservation, and go to Wednesday night karaoke 🎤

Don’t bother if you want a good nights sleep.|I'd like to say how disappointed we are with our stay with you.|Room is fine, however we returned to the room about 4pm to rest before dinner only to find a function on the verandah outside our room with amplified music, so no rest there.|After dinner at another restaurant we returned to our room with music blaring from Karaoke downstairs. It was 11pm before it ended and we got no sleep.|I have paid for 2 nights but will check out tomorrow and expect a refund for the second night.|Worst stay I've had anywhere.|This place needs to decide if it’s a motel or nightclub.|I complained to the manager in the morning who said “well we are a pub and we have karaoke every Wednesday “ Had we known we would have stayed elsewhere. We were not told about the function or Karaoke on check in.

After watching Priscilla, Queen of the Desert many years ago, seeing The Palace Hotel was put on my bucket list. ||When I arrived, I went to the main entrance, but it was locked, so I rang the doorbell, no one came, so I went to the bar and discovered that check in was in the gift shop, no problem but better signage would be helpful to indicate this. The receptionist was friendly and professional, and I was quickly checked in.||Walking up the grand staircase surrounded by murals is certainly an experience not to be missed. It certainly is an interesting building. Personally, I think some of Mario's hand stenciled wallpaper detracts from the murals and would look better painted over and only small sections kept. A few pieces of furniture around the corridors looked like it belonged in a skip. I believe the character can be kept and improved upon whilst not keeping all of Mario's touches. The Palace is a huge building and still needs a huge amount of work, but the current owners are doing a great job and I hope they have deep pockets to continue improvements. ||My room was down the back of hotel, through a spooky dilapidated corridor. The bed was very comfortable, and it had a magnificent view of the Line of the Lode. The room honoured Broken Hill's mining heritage with a corrugated tin wall feature and quirky side tables, bedside and bathroom lights. The bathroom had an industrial edge and the shower was great. The room has a handy seating area, but it was quite uncomfortable. Don't miss the balcony, it is huge and an amazing space to relax on.||I had dinner in the bistro, both the service and food were very good- great steak! The gift shop has some interesting souvenirs- I love my Tea Towel, but $35 is a bit steep.||I read somewhere that 20 new ensuite rooms will be coming on line this year- I hope this happens as the hotel is full of atmosphere and perfectly located. Also I believe there are plans for a boutique hotel adjacent by the same owners, but I am not sure if this happening.||I enjoyed my stay and if you liked Priscilla you've got to stay at least once.
