Where do I start? The service here was appalling! Firstly they insisted on ID to be over 18… just to eat. Okay fine - it’s a legal requirement. But then he demanded to know why my partner didn’t have a digital drivers license. Because it has only existed for two days! He’s from overseas and doesn’t bring his passport to dinner! The requirement is fine, it’s the law - but the way the manager, Sunny, interrogated us was not ok. Just say if the ID is okay or not and move on.
Next we asked very clearly how long the food would take because we are in a rush, and he said it would be 15 minutes. He made NO MENTION of the kitchen not being open yet. After we had paid, and sat down with drinks we were told by someone else it would be longer because the kitchen wasn’t open. Feeling stuck we agreed. Twenty minutes later - when the food was to have arrived I went and politely asked for an eta. He wouldn’t check and just said “soon” and was immediately defensive and rude. Only when I insisted did he call the kitchen and still refused to provide an ETA.
I said I wanted a refund and he said “nope you’re not getting one. It’s not my problem.” Yes he actually said that.
At first we spoke with a younger staff member who said it was their first day - this person was lovely and clearly knew how to talk to people. Unfortunately as soon as Sunny, the manager, got involved it all went downhill. He was rude, inattentive and distracted the whole time. He interrogated us, accused me of lying and had no care for doing the right thing.
If you want to the place to look less empty stop him from talking to your customers. Highly recommend - avoid this place. Get fast food instead.
The food was very average too.
I want to reiterate in this feedback, the younger person on their first day - give them a raise or make them the manager. Super friendly, warm and welcoming!

We went here for Mothers day. Great venue as it wasnt too loud. ,

We reserved a table and ordered online, but after spending 30 mins there someone came and said the kitchen is closed and they can’t prepare our order that was only a waste of time for us.

We just had some delicious pita pizza and beer with some amazing live music.
I love the place and beer of the month deals. Loved it when I was young and broke 20 years ago. Love it still when I am old and little less broke.
It is also a nice place to grab a beer on my way home from Camberwell station.
The atmosphere is comfortable - good seating and footy or cricket are always on. Service has always been friendly too. Hope they keep up the good work.

Visited the palace and was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service provided by the staff. The staff members were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that my experience was nothing short of fantastic. I'll definitely be returning soon and highly recommend this pub to anyone looking for a welcoming atmosphere and top-notch service.

Usually you guys are great and a good meal and value for pub food. However tonight I think something was wrong with the kitchen my rare steak came well done, my mushroom sauce tasted like blue cheese, and my mash for clearly re-heated since it was ice cold in the middle…

Traditional pub food. Parma, and ribs were great. But pizza is not my glass of beer. Good selection of beers on tap.

This review is purely about their Pokies room. (40 machines) It's really awesome. Spacious, super clean, comfortable couch to relax on, clean toilets, free soft-drinks or coffee for players and super attentive and friendly staff. I was very impressed with Pavan and other staff members. 5-stars.

Literal there was no service, the waiter and cashier were so rude and unprofessional. We reserved, went there, ordered and paid after half an hour a rude waiter said the chef was gone and you should refund your order. With no apologies

Lachie the bar tender went above and beyond. We saw him continuously wiping benches, cleaning tables, picking up glasses, and serving customers with a massive smile. He has always gone above and beyond and is super approachable. You can tell he's a very hard worker, and as a patron of the pub he has always been a pleasure to deal with.

I've been to the upstairs private function room for a couple birthdays. And last week on the Saturday I came here for a school reunion. We had reserved three tables for the evening. We were told by the staff at one point to be seated and not stand in the way of the live music (I thought that was a bit ridiculous) but I suppose it was for the sake of the performers and other patrons. Overall, the pub itself has good food and drinks. Thank you!
Update: I came here again with a couple friends. We ordered the chicken Parma and beef burger with chips. Unfortunately the drink (just a lemon lime and bitters) took 20 minutes to arrive and we had to remind the staff to actually bring it out. Other than that, the service was pretty good and the food was tasty. Thank you Palace Hotel staff :)

It's a colloquial dining experience with pld fashioned style. Food was great. The staff named Rahul served us very well and very friendly which makes us feel like home. Thank you 🙏.

I come here every Thursday and the Palace doesn’t disappoint. With excellent food and great customer service, this is my go-to pub.

I come from a small country town and this is the first place I've been to that feels like home, the local pub where everyone knows your name. The staff are lovely and the patrons are your mates

Good range of beers, specials and great atmosphere. We come here for business lunch on most Thursdays. $20 pot and parma is a great deal and serve our cravings well. Highly recommended.

Fantastic service! Great food! Hiten is absolutely awesome! and very nice to the staff and Alex is an exceptional bartender that works extremely hard. Would recommend 😊

Delicious food. Has a menu for kids and as well as seniors. Good value. Opposite the train and very near tram stop.
It does have pokies as well as the tv screen.
Can get busy.
Has a function area as well.

Decent Parma, fair selection of beers, and the Blue Boys won the footy.
Its a shame they have taken the chicken wings of the menu!!

Best wings I've tried in Melbourne, if you're searching for a place to hang out with friends, drink some beers, listen good music or watch a match while you are eating good. This is the place.

Been my local for 4 years. Good pub for a quiet beer. Also good when there’s an event on. Great food, the curry and steak sandwich is top notch. New management is great. Even gave me a packet of Tayto crisps. Legend 👏
