We got 2 pieces of cake. We normally half each. They said it's extra $1 for ice cream which was fine. HOWEVER 1 small scoop is not okay! We paid $20 for 2 pieces of cake with small scoop of ice cream. Also the service was dreadful. I approached the area unsure where to order and staff ignored me so I assumed they were part of the bistro where the kitchen is closed for the gap time. I went back to the front to ask if we could order anything such as cake and coffee. She said yes and that there were workers there. We went back and the staff were so sour. As in very grumpy and inconvenience by us being there. It was a mistake in attending this place.

Very disappointed as my first experience. The sadist on a bar named “Mick” and the sadist on the food bar “Krystal” they shouldnt be working in a hospitality industry. We became memeber but i felt that was a bad investment i did so far. Very sadist people with a sad environment and even one star is a lot for them. We would like to give our membership back or cancel it. Not worth it at all. Especially this two employees shouldn’t be in any hospitality industry. Very Sadist people. Can we take that one star out too plz. They don't deserve.

They play 500 from 10 to 1pm on Friday and then we have a lovely lunch at the bistro. Makes for a great Friday

The place has been renovated recently. Inside it is nice, not very pricy. A lot of regular customers. About the bistro, a while ago, when the place was managed by the h Chef Sean Fitzgerald, the food was very good and tasty (a bit repetitive maybe, but the quality was good). I tasted the food recently and unfortunately it's not very good (also it's quality). The place has a new management today...

The front desk staff are nice, but the bistro....don't get me started. They have an Australian and an Asian menu; I have tried both. Unfortunately, they cannot cook Aussie food that well, but the Chinese is pretty good. The bistro staff are also SUPER tight handing out salt/pepper or other extra condiments, and they charge for takeaway containers if you can't finish the meal. My most recent visit, they got my order wrong and added something I'm allergic to that I requested not to have. They put it in anyway, and when I said something the lady says "we'll just have the chef pick it out". Sorry, but that's not how allergies work. Pretty poor service.

Second time we've been here with the lift out of order. With a person of limited mobility in our party, it's demoralising that we can't even get them in the door. And 3 days out from Anzac Day, I feel for all those who will be excluded from the club on the busiest day of the year.

Recently refreshed, the bistro (Lower Ground level) is a mix of Australian & Asian food. It normally has 5 specials (1 is always a roast, veg and all the trimmings) for lunch or dinner and 40-50 different meal styles on offer. Servings are large, unless your a huge eater you won't finish your main if you start with an entree. Prices are very moderate as usual RSL prices as a guide, members get a 20% discount on everything (including alcoholic drinks) on presenting a members card. 1 members card can cover a round of drinks, so keep this in mind when ordering. Meals are fresh, well cooked and are typical mix of pub/Asian fare with all the usual staples, with enough variety to provide something for everyone. Deserts are top notch and you have a choice of 5-10 plus toppings. Service is fast, table service if you or a guest needs a hand, wheelchairs are catered for and accommodated everywhere. The restaurant seats 100+, but you'll need to book on public holidays as it's very popular. It's menu and hours are on its website and access is $19 a year for locals or free for temporary member ship via a driver's licence. Food is plain but honest and lots of it. Price is low given what you get. Parking is on street at the front or 50+ parking sites in the rear carpark, you can enter via the rear door if you have a member card or get buzzed in via the intercom.

Penshurst RSL is a great local club. I have been here twice for lunch at the Brasserie and the experience was great both times. This time I had the grilled Pacific Dory and Nasi Goreng for lunch and Banana Fritters for dessert. The food was good and the staff were pleasant. Reasonably priced and generous with drink and meal vouchers.

On the 23/07/2023 I had attended a function at Penshurst RSL. All the staff were really nice even with how busy and hectic the environment was. However, there was a manager on duty I believe named ''William'' which had ultimately led to me leaving the RSL in disgust due to his unprofessionalism. There was a situation where the young lady bartender was explaining to a couple of kids that had approached the bar that she could not serve them drinks, stating that they needed their parents to come up to the bar. I believe William thought she might have been serving the kids drinks and immidiately started lashing out and screaming at both the young lady and kids in an extremely volitile and demeaning manner. I was utter disgusted by this encounter and will not be visiting again. Disappointed as all the other staff were lovely and the RSL had a nice cozy feel to it.

No foxtel, came to watch the footy and couldnt so i left. This happened to me once in the late 90s in a small country pub.Never in Sydney. Why wouldnt you renew foxtel at least for footy season pensy rsl? if you dont like the brickies laptop give this place a wide berth. Used to be about the veterans and the community. Who is running this joint. Only for the gamblers these days

It was my first time to the Penshurst RSL club and I must I was very impressed from the location for public transport and the friendly assistance at reception. The small foyer belied a large, clean and spacious dining area. The meal I ordered Pepper pork on the bone was delicious and the price reasonable, atmosphere was quiet and service friendly. You can guess this will be my favoured RSL.

I’m giving 1star due to the rudeness and lack of manners at the Bistro staff, especially the lady behind the cashier. If this is the way she treat our elders and veterans, oh dear. Hope RSL management do something about and follow up.

I cannot believe Asian cooks can be so unaware and bland. Everything tastes the same, the curry, the fish ginger special, the chicken Asian style.. They are treating patrons as idiots. Everyone- go across to the pub!

I am not affiliated with the Red Cross. Today we attended a fund raising function for the Red Cross in the Auditorium. The afternoon tea was lacking content and presentation and a refund should be given to the Red Cross. The Red Cross is a humanitarian organisation and for the Club to charge room hire for a less than satisfactory room is inexcusable. In spite of the poor venue and the inedible afternoon tea we can only hope that the St George Branch have made something to enable them to continue their path to help humanity. The reception staff are excellent.

Honestly, doesn't even deserve 1 star. Would give 0/5 if it was possible. Extremely poor and rude service. I was shocked at how we were treated. Never going back. Do not go here.

Great food reasonable prices. Small club, too many pokies relative to the rest of the club unfortunately. They take over the atmosphere. I was sad see that the outdoor deck has also become smaller has no outlook and is there really for smokers. Lost opportunity

Friendly staff who will 'bend' slightly to keep you happy, great food prices. When I left my wallet behind, they were going to put it on the bus for me and send it out! The food is always very good in the evening and they are always packed because of this, the price is great and they can cook a blue steak. I have signed up for membership because despite only being a smaller sized RSL, they really make you feel welcome and have a great community feel. Thank you to all the staff, keep it up!

First time visitor and immediately signed up. Fantastic friendly service from the reception man, more quiet and less noisy than other RSL's, food was fresh and so delicious, staff were hands on and fast service. Very clean and a local fave spot. Will be bringing my family more. Thankyou

Absolutely love coming here. From the $5 champagne breakfast on Sunday mornings to their beautiful grilled barramundi for dinner...this is the place to go! Friendly staff, fast, efficient service...this club is it for me. It's clean and has nice modern decore....I think it has been renovated recently🌸.The dinning area is much smaller these days but this just adds to the friendly comfortable atmosphere!!!👍
