We had heard great things about your renovated and reinvigorated hotel before we booked for our dinner on Thursday night. Our expectations were high, but you all exceeded our highest benchmark. In particular, your server with the red hair (I regret and apologize for not getting her name), was sensational with our 14 year old guest. Her immediate compliment about our guest’s glasses set the scene for a completely engaged and masterful service. Your food was delicious, the atmosphere joyous and the service impeccable. I cannot think of enough positive, complimentary adjectives! Thank you, all of you.

We can’t get enough of the new Petrel Hotel. Great atmosphere and delicious food that is a step above your average counter meal.
The back feels like a restaurant and the front feels like a pub.

This unassuming hotel on Pakington Street (Geelong West) has (semi) recently had an complete upgrade without losing any of its inherent charm. A spacious yet cosy front bar invites you in, and is followed by a nicely laid out dining area, with fireplace, sitting snugly behind. The atmosphere and service is fantastic and the food is seriously amazing. Gastronomy is definitely being considered in this kitchen, as each meal is prepared with a real understanding of the ingredients being used. I can't recommend it highly enough. A must visit for lunch or dinner.

The worst cheeseburger I have eaten. An overcooked, rissole-sized patty that fell apart as I ate it. The cheese was hard to find and excessive sauce didn't mask anything.

The whole-nine-yards, from behind the scenes to front of house was run like clock work, and with passion.
This is definitely the local from here on out!

The only good thing about the Petrel hotel was the waiter Sebastian, he was great. I had high hopes for this place but the atmosphere was average and so was the customer service and the food was awful. The secret to great food is keep it simple and be great at it. Won't go back

Super friendly and helpful staff. Food was delicious - lamb shoulder and confit duck - absolutely top shelf pub dining. Sadly I had no room for dessert but I'm coming back to try the sticky date pudding.

Pub with good restaraunt quality food. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. Good friendly service in restaraunt and bar area. Prices at top end. But given quality its worth it. I would have liked some oysters but Only bad thing was ridiculous price for 1/2 dozen oysters so didn't have them. But other than that highly recommended.

My family came to the Petrel for Mother’s Day dinner - we could not fault it! The staff catered to my dietary requirements to suit the set menu incredibly well, the food was absolutely beautiful, the place had a lovely atmosphere and all staff were kind and attentive. Thank you!!

Met friends for lunch, great service from staff, 2of us ordered bangers mash which was good, disappointed that their was no choice of breads eg garlic,herb on menu when you order tbone steak you would think it would be in tact,no it was all cut into pieces, then asked for coffee was told no coffee available
But beer and chips great 😀

Great experience overall! The food was infallible! Great steaks, great fish and great lamb shoulder! We asked shortly after being seated if we ordered drinks at the bar, to which we were told a complete table service is provided. We waited maybe 5 minutes before we were asked if we’d like drinks but after that our drinks and meal orders were prompt. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere whilst a little loud was homely and lovely. Would definitely visit again.

Get here. It’s a game changer after the reno. One of the few pubs in Geelong open every night. Awesome food, fitout, and vibe. Great staff. Lucky to have it.

From what I’m told it’s recently been renovated. I first came here on a quiet Monday afternoon and loved the retro feeling of the pub.
John, behind the bar was so friendly, we ordered bar nibbles and they were so good especially the croquettes, which had shavings of lemon in them. Had a great afternoon there.
Then on my second visit was on a Sunday night and again it’s was just such a good experience, with cozy vibes, they had sports on, footy tripping on the wall and it just had a great Aussie pub atmosphere to it in my opinion and a bonus, no pokies.
They have a restaurant at the back which looks fantastic, with a fireplace and decent spaced, sized tables.
Then being a Pom, the Guinness on tap was pretty good.

Finally found a great pub in Geelong. Have been looking since moving to the area two years ago. Every meal has been tasty gourmet pub fare, always amazing service, cosy ambience with a friendly local vibe. Everything a good pub should be!

Finally an elite pub in Geelong! Had lunch here for the first time a couple weeks ago and will be back this weekend for date night. Excellent food, great fit out and good vibes all around. Sparkling water is also top tier. Love your work team xo

Fantastic venue, great staff & beautiful food! We had a great time today, our waiter Joe was absolutely awesome and so so helpful! Food was delicious, chefs kiss!

Amazing atmosphere, we had the kindest waiter named Joe, he was very helpful and had a walm and inviting personality, and don't get me started on the food YUMMY, I will be returning as I think I've found my new favourite local restaurant, and the ambience is very calm, with beautiful Decor. I recommend visiting.
