Went there as a family of Egypt buffs and were unfortunately rather disappointed. No real atmosphere, could remove the Egyptian theme and it wouldn't make a difference at all. The food was pretty average but not awful, perhaps a little pricey. The staff were nice though and the food came out quickly, but not really worth it.

Went last night for a meal, which was not very good at all... the chips were fresh but the Parma was soggy cold and had no flavour... after a few mouthfuls I pushed it aside... the person I was with told them it wasn't nice and they offered to replace it with a new one, I declined however she got a new one which looked amazing, it took another 25mins. Looking at the others that were coming out they all looked the same as the original Parms. If your getting complaints why send out food of such a low standard. The staff were happy to help :) but the food was terrible... won't be going back anytime soon.

Went here for the first time l love the Egyption theme look inside and out. Food was good needed more seasoning there was salt pepper on the table so that was good. But was missing flavour. Had cheesecake later it was ok. My daughter had a play in the playground she enjoyed it. We couldn't get the tablet room the screens to work. It difently gets busy there alot of people around l would go back seeing all the Egypt stuff is worth it also good to go somewhere different.

Wanted to show the big Sphinx some love after never having eaten there. I entered and the place stunk of what I think was frying oil. Has a very similar smell inside to that of Oppy's/Norlane Hotel. The floorplan is cool how you can see through to the kitchen behind the bar, and the Ancient Egyptian theme inside doesn't feel half baked, it's pretty unique. The cushioned chairs are very uncomfortable and sunken into and given they have been dressed up with stretchy covers I suspect they're quite old. The very thin porterhouse steak was shockingly bad. It had a horrible taste to it that i wouldn't know how to describe. I only ate a few pieces of it. The chips were ok and the salad was actually pretty good with the exception of the underripe flavourless tomatoes that seem to be everywhere nowadays. The beer was cold 🍻 Service was nice 🙂 1* +1 for being so unique Would see a band there or get on the beers in the sportsbar but can't see myself eating there again

This was the second worst meal I’ve had in my life. The risotto consisted of cream bacon and rice, not an onion or shallot in sight, and a TRUCKLOAD of salt. I put my friends pepper gravy through it to tone it down. We also ordered an entree of the bao buns The skin on the pork belly was absolute rubber, and the buns themselves were stale and hard, not pillowy as they should be. The calamari entree, had the texture of an over cooked steak. There was a pizza ordered. Average a best, all the cheese dumped in the centre. There was a parmy ordered, that and the side salad were the two things they managed to get up alright. Truly terrible and quite expensive for what it was.

The Pharoahs burger was almost charcoal, way over cooked. The beer battered fish purely only tasted like beer and completely disgusting. Tonight we witnessed people having food brought around asking if this was there's? Pretty poor effort tonight, wasn't even busy at this point. Multiple people complaining of cold steaks.

The food here has gotten a lot better. I had the lamb shank and it just fell off the bone, I didn't need a knife at all. Only thing is the dishes could use a bit more seasoning but there is salt and pepper on the tables which is good.

Super friendly staff and great customer service. Meals came out in a timely manner, good pub food, our dishes were cleared promptly and not left till the end of our visit. Our little kids were off playing in the playground with lots of other kids and left us alone to have an adult meal and conversation. Would definitely come back for the same experience.

Parma, not Parmi. Great service staff, flat beers (bottled and out of tap), and mediocre meals. Had a browning tomato as-well as wet soggy bread crumbs on my parma. Recommend it if you’re from NSW and spell parma like an idiot because this is the food you deserve.

Our first visit to Pharaoh's. We didn't really feel the good vibes. We decided to try the carvery special for $20, soup, roast pork and sticky date pudding. The soup was just warm, the main was ok but the meat was chewy, the desert was served in a sauce bowl. The seniors meals we have had at different venues trump this one. We were seated maybe 5 to 10 minutes and our first course came and then kept coming, obviously already prepared. Not excited about a return visit. Sorry Pharaoh's 👎

Love the new kids play area. meals were fine. Ok value. But it is the family friendly addition of the undercover play park that will get us coming back again and again

I shudder to think what the rooms are like in the hotel after the shabbiness of the bistro furniture! The seating is disgusting! The seats are covered in cheap stretchy covers but that doesn't fix the lack of support of the chairs or bench seats, your butt hangs through the chair, OHS issue! . If the meals were cheap, I could understand the nastiness of the furniture but the meals are reeeeaaallly expensive compared to other pubs. Calamari was cooked to perfection, chips were cold and salad lifeless! Service was non interactive and we were shown to our table with nodding of the head towards our table. (Seriously, you had to laugh!) I will never return. Furniture is shabby and dangerous, meals way overpriced and service so bad it's almost funny!

IMPRESSIVE BOTH INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR. NOT SO MUCH FOOD. I ORDERED LAMBS FRY. PRESENTATION WAS BAD AND TASTE EVEN WORTH. BIG PLATE HOWEVER U COULD NOT SEE WHAT IS REALY ON THE PLATE. EVERYTHING WAS COVERED WITH SOME MUDDY BROWNISH SUBSTANCE . U HAVE TO SEARCH WITH FORK WHAT U REALY HAVE ON THE PLATE. I CAREFULY TASTED A BIT AND IMMEDIATELY RETURNED IT. MANAGER REFUSED TO REFUND OR GIVE ME ANOTHER FOOD UNLESS I PAY AGAIN. SO I SPENT 20$ AND I LEFT HUNGRY. IT WAS ON 30TH / 12/2016

I had to organize a wake following my fathers funeral on new years eve of all times. it was really difficult finding something for a late lunch on new years eve (they were preparing for new years ever but made an exception for us). George and 2 women whose names i have forgotten (I apologize) really helped me out and managed to organize the wake in a lovely room with an overhead projector. on the day we were running late following the funeral, pippa and george were there and really helped us out. the service and understanding by them was outstanding. the food really was amazingly good, like really good and was served very quickly. i gave a speech about my dads life in front of the overhead projector and we all ate (there were around 40 of us) had a few drinks and then left and headed down the freeway back to Melbourne. I never would have thought of going to Pharaohs Bistro but I am glad I did they were fantastic and it was a good way to reflect and to end a sad day following a funeral. thanks Pete

Good service ... at first. Ordered gluten free meal (option available on menu). My friends were served 10 minutes before I asked if mine was coming. What I had ordered no longer available so I accelated beef instead of pork. Gluten free gravy lumpy & rushed. Care factor by staff ZERO.

Everyone loved their meal and it was said the vegitarian dishes were the best they had ever experienced. The young staff provided the most helpful and attentive service that I have experienced in a long time, you couldn't help but feel the refreshing difference right from the first interaction with staff while ordering meals to the next staff member serving drinks behind the bar. She'd worked out from the number of drinks we ordered how many jugs we'd need saving us over $25. Then the Deal Clencher came.. Are you ready for it? All the meals came out together! 5 mins after the first meal landed on the table the final meal came out and for the first time we could remember we were all eating at the same time, together, in a bistro! The next nice touch came after one of the kids noticed he had a small cut on his finger. The waitress turned into a nurse 3 or 4 times over the next 45 mins. She hurried away and quickly came back with alcohol swabs and a blue band-aid for a boy!. Then she went and got her young patient and his younger cousin a cup of jelly and ice-cream but not before the young waitress asked both boys mother's for permission first. The young man who had earlier taken our orders had set the scene nicely for us, joking with those of us he had picked with a good sense of humour and suggesting the most popular dishes to those of us who having trouble making up their mind about what they were going to order and also, where possible, he carefully highlighted the similar less expensive meals if it was available on the specials board. I think his name was Tyler. Well it became evident that he had been keeping an eye on our preceedings, just as we decided it was time to ask that the cake be brought out. There was Tyler with the birthday cake with the candles lit, someone had dimmed the lights in our semi private section and even the silverware, serviettes and plates were in place on the table juat as if they'd been there the whole time. Then, just when we thought he'd thought of everything this smiling superstar started offering to take photos with everyone's phones so no one would be missing from the group's photos! Great effort guys, Our first time at the Sphinx Hotel for lunch and but certainly won't be Our last. The reason I rated it 4 stars and not 5 out of 5 has nothing to do with the meals being 20%-25% more expensive because the Service more than makes up for that but rather because the $30 I put into The Black Rhyno's gave me back nothing despite getting the free spins feature half a dozen times! Oh well I probably should of played Queen of the Nile! It would've been more fitting anyway. See you sooner rather than later at The Sphinx Hotel.

$15 pot and Parma sounds like a good deal. And it is if all you are after is a $2 heart shaped schnitzel with a piece of ham, sauce and cheese. The salad had no dressing and tasted awful. There were precisely 10 chips that were drenched in oil and not drained. The saving grace was the pot of post mixed coke which was rather delightful on a hot summer's day.
