Went to picnic bay for a few beers, the service from the bar staff was almost non existent which meant it was a less enjoyable time.

Went here for a Friday night dinner, service was fine and food was served in a timely manner, however, the salt and pepper calamari I ordered was far too much salt and not enough pepper calamari. So much so that it was borderline inedible. Could have been an unlucky incident.

We had a lovely time at this hotel. View is fantastic. My husband's burger was good but my seafood basket was a little disappointing as it stated crumbed fish and I got battered which I can't stand so would not have ordered. I also had to chase cutlery but the waitress seemed to be giving it to everyone else, maybe just an oversight. If you are just after a drink and a quick bite, we would recommend to give it a go.

Visited on a late Friday arvo, group of 4 people. Ordered beer and sorbet. Sat outside looking towards the water and pier. Beautiful and picturesque setting however the place felt deserted and lacked atmosphere. This place has so much potential, maybe we just visited at the wrong time.

This Venue really stood out for my friends and I when we ordered food for breakfast a couple times while on the island for subtropics festival. The food was presented and cooked with absolute quality !. The service was calm relaxed and attentive with a smile. Just a perfect all round experience and a great reflection of the island and Picnic Bay.. I normally don't write these reviews but was compelled this time..

Only stayed for several drinks, but very picturesque area. Swimming area close by. Able to fish off the pier. Apparently plans are in place to improve the area which will be a bonus as it is dated. Photo of pier directly out the front of Hotel.

Nice spot on the Esplanade of Picnic Point, bestrewn by banyan trees, virtually opposite the historic jetty. Very picturesque. Nice meals, lovely aquarium in the bistro area. Nice seating outside too.

Large beach front pub, centre of the action in Picnic Bay. Cold beer and basic food options. Nice spot for an afternoon drink in the warm weather. Other businesses nearby include Tropical Palms Resort, pizza and a craft brewery. Also a surf lifesaving club down toward the end of the beach

Held our wedding in the Water Garden Oasis, Dave was a pleasure to deal with. Went above and beyond to make our special night a success. Perfect location for a Magnetic Wedding.

Great venue and food! The venue is plot into the bistro and then the pub style area which has pool tables and a TAB. Our family are locals on the island and recently the changes made at the Picnic Bay Hotel have been amazing and in our opinion made it the best pub on the island. The food is wonderful. We went today and had the beef burger, the Caesar salad and the parmigiana and they were all great. Heaps of parking close by, kids playground across the road and a netted in beach across the road. Looking forward to going back!

Great location. Lovely quiet beaches and stunning views across to the mainland. Long Jetty to walk out on. Protected from the worst of the weather, as it's not on the ocean side. There's a patrolled swimming area with stinger netting too. Nice tavern with friendly staff, good food and cold drinks. You can sit at air-conditioned tables, or outside in the beer garden where there's a cool breeze and water views. Bus stops right out the front. There are a few other food options nearby, plus a large park if you bring your own. Appears to be some decent accommodation as well.

Friendly Staff, ice cold beer and great views with plenty of seating. On the day we visited there was an hour wait for food even though the restaurant looked at around 50% capacity. Nonetheless good beer and stunning views made for an enjoyable visit.

Beautiful hotel in an amazing location. Great park and swimming spot across the road. Wonderful pier with led lights at nighttime that gives an amazing view of Townsville at night. Inside there is a cool fish tank with some very nice fish and biographies of each one on the side.

Awesome pub located at the now quiet Picnic Bay. The out door area with views of Townsville over the bay is perfect to enjoy one of their decent sized meals with an ice cold beer. The parmigiana was one of the better ones I've tasted in my time, not to say the prices are reasonable as well. I feel like the atmosphere is a lot more relaxed compared to the other hotels on the island. I'd definitely go again.

A spectacular view is plenty enough of a reason to visit Picnic Bay Hotel. We enjoyed our meals and found the service staff very friendly. The only issue we had was an unusually long wait-time for our meals, even though we were one of a small number of people there, when we ordered. Other than that, I definitely give it a thumbs up.

Another great location on Magnetic Island, nice shady alfresco dining with a view across the bay to Townsville. Good place to stop and catch your breath on a day tour of the island. Friendly service and a menu with the usual options, lemon pepper calamari was great and they catered for food sensitivities.

10 stars to the dinner chef! Ordered the eye fillet and it was cooked to perfection. And it was a quality piece of meat without fat. Would definitely order it again. I haven't had eye fillet that good in years!
