You guys make me wait 30mins for a simple dish of fish and chips. It came out oily af. Is this how you treat your customer/club member. Garlic bread is never offered. I ask why it took so long. They said theres so many order. I can only see 3 tables. Stop lying to your customers and hire a new chef. Never again eating here.

Went on a Melbourne Cup carnival race day and had a meal, a few beers and a few bets. The venue is a little depressing due to the number and sounds coming from the slot machines and the number of depressed looking pensioners pumping their cash into the machines.

Ummm, overall pretty disappointing, with the exception of Kylie who did a great job looking after us. The menu is extremely limited and not overly cheap with little or no mid week deals...overall not a venue worthy of an encore, or your hard earned which is a pity :(

The Powell is a Footscray institution. I had been here before years ago, I even used to DJ here. The food was great back then, a hidden gem.
I was disappointed to find that the place had been taken over by Castello's. Known for a few more stodgy pubs in the eastern suburbs they haven't disappointed here. Now more stingy on service as even though the place was packed with people watching inals football the main bar was not staffed. I had a Tex mex burger that wasn't too bad.
The chips and wedges are good, but don't be shocked when the wedges come with a sad little bowl of bland salsa rather than the usual sweet chilli sauce.
Better than expected given the new management, but pretty lax service as anticipated.

Terrible night staff…i have been coming to this venue for a week or so now ..night lady staff doesn’t even know what role is ..she is mostly stuck with a customer even leaving the counter empty most of the time and other patron just wondering where to get the drinks or cash out..noticed the other day she get tips from her and she even reserved the big jackpot machine for that lady..she would not allow other patron touch those machine for all night eventhough her favourite madam is not playing at all.. ppl come and spend decent money on the venue and as a pub basically ppl like to have small chitchat but she is completely rude to those who are having even a bit of noise around..thts not pub are made for..ppl spent their money and they can have small talks for sure..total hypocrisy here..

Terrible burgers. The boys and I couldn't eat most of what tasted like a sugar filled toxic McDonald's like bun. What a pity that the good pub menu has been replaced by this limited and inedible burger menu. We will never be back. Did enjoy our regular pool and meal night out.

Staff were really friendly good and attentive. The pub had Good atmosphere. But i came for the food. Had the calamari which was greasy like the chips.
Chips were that brown tinged colour and limp. Rather than crispy and golden.Not sure why but it just didnt taste fresh. Maybe the oil in the deep frier isnt changed often enough?

Recently taken over by #burger love and I gotta say these burgers and the venue for it is beyond awesome! Spatious to fit a large amount of customers and then off to the pokies next door! Perfect!

Recently renovated venue with friendly staff. Nothing special though, really. I wouldn't really recommend if there are other options available. Late opening hours are a plus

Really rude bartenders who don’t give you time to decide what drink you want to get. Always so so hurrying. No drinks menu. Standard drinks prices but horrible and rude staff. Cannot negatively rate them but I’d have to say that that bar is the worst in Footscray

Prices aren't low and you only get chips with your meal. Anything else needs to be ordered as a side. That's all ok if the food is very good, but it isn't. Average at best. My schnitzel was ok, but slightly overcooked and dry. However, the hanging offence was this. Having a plain (somewhat dry) schnitzel calls for a good squeeze of lemon. Not all may agree with this, but many schnitzel lovers do. No lemon came with the meal so I asked for some. The waiting staff looked a bit confused, but said they would ask the kitchen. Apparently in a place that specialises in schnitzels there was not a slice of lemon in the building! Didn't have a good meal, but did have a good laugh at the amateur nature of the place.

Pokies open til 6am. Staff a bit slack, but who wouldn't be at that time in the morning? Day/afternoon staff are on the ball. Had a couple of good wins here, early hours of the morning.

No longer honoring castello's vouchers because they have changed their name to something else and have decided to throw out the original charm this well known bistro had to sell only hamburgers despite the fact they still has signage reflecting the 'Castello's' branding around the venue.
Aside from the voucher, I could not justify the pricing on their burgers. Given the poor reviews on Google, I am glad I didn't go ahead.
Footscray has enough 'trendy' burger places that are more affordable. You're a bit late to the party!

NO LONGER A BISTRO - No Parma, no steaks, only midnight snacks available.
Lovely staff, modern atmosphere.
Sports, Pokies and TAB focus.

Me and my friend was watching the AFL match between Bulldog and Fremantle and manager of the store On that night was Matt, he changed the soccer match for only one guy, it was very bad experience for us. We never gona come back to this store. He was very rude to us as well.

I had not been to the Powell for years and was pleasantly surprised by its transformation. Good meals especially if you never eat those token pub salads that accompany meals. Food come with chips only. The staff in the bistro are wonderful and friendly. Great to go there after visiting family in the local hospital.

Hello everyone. I visited the Powell Hotel just recently. I called in to have a few beers. Covid 19 has been around since 2020. It looked like that the Pub was getting a new look. I'd like to see if they are thinking about Meals and entertainment.

Great pub and the food is excellent especially that it's really cheap. They have deals on every night and worth getting a membership. I had the New Yorker Parma and it was fantastic. Will go back there again.

Great pricing and pretty good food. Drinks are reasonably priced as well. Had one mishap on a Tuesday where a lot of the parma’s being served were undercooked but the team quickly rectified the issue.

Generally a bit of a dive. Don't recommend it as it's full of sketchy characters. Was threatened by the bouncer for no real reason. Very customer unfriendly. Not a family safe place.

Constant construction for 8 weeks with no warning, from 7am onwards. Living next door is horrible when theres constant noise and construction for a job that can be done in less than half the time they're taking.

1 star is for the beer and beer only everything else is terrible ordered food and it was the worst, south Melbourne dim sims were cooked in a little oven came out half frozen same as the chip, very disappointing once a good place now the worst rated staff have no idea what’s going on very unorganised
