Where do I start. Went for dinner tonight 14th of September. 7 people in the kitchen area looked unorganised took 15 mins for someone to acknowledge that we where there and take our order and it all went down hill there. Half the menu wasn't avalible to order. Ordered chicken parmy which chips. Chicken burger no tomato with chips. Kids chicken pizza and rump med rare with salad. Went to the bar and got drinks the owner came in and stated to a bar staff member that someone wanted their money back as they have been awaiting for ages how do we give their money back. This surprises me that an owner doesn't know how to run their own business. Waiting our meals it was entertaining to watch open planned kitchen knowone knowing what they are doing. The lady owner was washing dishes and fluffing around the dining room collecting plates and so on. The male owner was running plates and service. Was like looking at a deer about to get ran over by a bus very uncomfortable had no idea what they are doing in the dining room. He asked me 3 times on what we had ordered and was this our order confusion and caois. Got our meals. Sauses where in paper throwaway disposable little cups steak with just salad had more chips than anything salad easnt fresh or edible streak was cooke do profection well done Matt. Chiclen burgers was just a burger bun crumbed chicken and lettuce no sause was added. Very average. Chicken parmy was ok and kids pizza was ok. No cutlery given asked the food runner AKA owner grunted and got some thinking he would have brought salt and pepper back with him aswell, didnt know we had to be specific in what we required. Didn't bother with another grunt reached over and got it from another table that had finished their meal. Halfway threw the meal the smoke started filling the room setting the smoke alarm off. The girl making the pizzas came out with a tea towel clearing the smoke from the smoke alarm to stop it. Opening the side door put to the smokers area that the owner continued locking is there for a reason. I have never seen a chef ask for something and get told where it is and have to go run for it himself. Owners need to work the staff properly not the staff work them. Running food by a person that has no atmosphere or personality will make u loose customers extreamly quickly. Getting food out is a priority but 7 staff members could organise an area that can be easily done by 4 people on a quiet night stay away on a busy night

We were looking for somewhere to eat before catching out flight back to Brisbane. Food was amazing, portion sizes were off the charts, definitely value for money. Service was amazing. We got Beef Sniztel, Chicken Kiev & Kids Tacos.. Our son just couldn't get enough as for us we were so full, we couldn't eat it all.. Huge credit to the Chef and staff, absolutely wonderful..

Very comfortable king size bed great food accommodating staff. Steaming hot high pressure shower. Historical building and location right in the centre of town adjacent to everything. Very cheap but still clean.||The only thing holding it back was the smell of cigarettes. l guess you can never escape that.||I will definitely stay again

Unair-conditioned bistro. Too hot in summer. Menu very tired. Service slow

Stopped in for a Tuesday evening pizza and beer. Good size pizzas with generous toppings. Met the owners who were approachable and friendly. Staff were great and the pizza arrived quickly. Will definitely make this place a regular outing. Highly recommend giving this place a try. Great place!

Room was clean but the bed was a bit hard. Check in was easy but did feel like I interrupted the lady. My main reason for leaving a review was the friendly cleaning lady Shirley, she was extremely friendly and had a chat with the kids, she offered us extra towels and was just a pleasure to talk with. People like this are real asset to any business and should be recognised

Reasonable basic accommodation and convenient location for the train station. Good value for money if you're okay with shared facilities, but note the bistro is currently closed for refurbishment.

Really good quiet place to stay. Huge old room! Nice comfortable bed and simple kitchen to cook breakfast. The bistro has very nice meals and cheerful service. Just what I needed to get my land legs back after 4 days at sea.

Prince of Wales restaurant under new ownership is amazing! Incredibly tasty Japanese food that has only recently opened. Katsu Curry super tasty and the rest of the table was stoked with their meals. Everything is great. Get around em

On our way to deliver my teen to university in Townsville, we found this fabulous and affordable county pub accomodation.|Lovely, old style rooms - with either a queen sized or king bed. Immaculately clean with crisp white bed linen, air conditioning, and a mozzie net over the bed. |It was lovely listening to the pounding tropical rain on the roof throughout the night.|Downstairs was a terrific bistro with a comprehensive menu. We enjoyed a mini supreme pizza and a chicken parmi... with an ice cold on tap cider. Friendly, fast service and nice atmosphere.|Would recommend this hotel - and will be back on the next visit north.

Loved our pizzas. We 'meal watched' and were impressed with what was being produced from the 2 friendly men in the open kitchen. They deserve a pay rise! We will certainly come back here again. Thank you to the two, lovely ladies from Colour Me Crazy today (Saturday) who recommended this place.

I very much enjoyed my stay, rustic charm, warm atmosphere. I really appreciated the fact there is a kitchen available to use, as well as a good restaurant. Leaves all the choices! The owner will go out of his way to genuinely help you 🙏

If you are looking for a quiet night's sleep, this might not be the place for you. While the location is really good, it's not very quiet. Could hear loud music from outside for 2 nights. That's a problem which was easily solved with earplugs. The main problem was the wooden floors in the hallway. When people walk down the hallway at all hours of the night with shoes on, the stamping makes your bed shake. Not much to do about that, as it woke me up 3 times in one night. It might be a good idea for the owners to consider a long rug down the hallway so that people walking up and down (many times for some reason) don't wake up other guests. Other than that there are shared bathrooms which are not kept very clean with all types of old dirty soaps lying around.

I don't know what change the PoW has gone through since the last time I've eaten there, but WOW! The food we ate was to die for, I was expecting to maybe order a pizza..or a parmi but the menu was so unique and different to any pub, I LOVED the Korean and Japanese influence thats been brought in and the experience i had was different to any pub bistro I've been to in a very very long time. I will definitely eat here again, mostly because I really want to try every item on the menu!

Horrible. I ordered onion rings waited an hour only to get then burnt and no inside. Cups were dirty and had food on them. I also ordered a chicken parmi only for it to be dry and has no flavour. Slow service I am disgusted. Bottles of water had food on them. NEVER EATING HERE AGAIN

Horrible food! I ordered the popcorn chicken, it arrived as the photo. I said to the waitress it’s burnt. She took it back, apparently the chef said it’s “seasoning”. I tried a bit, 100% was not seasoning and was in fact burnt. The chicken had been cooked in burnt oil. Another one of us ordered the prawn salad, prawns had poop shoots still, were insanely oiley and the smallest portion of salad. We witnessed numerous orders of Garlic bread also be returned as they were burnt.

Great staff . Older pub needs a bit of work but lovely friendly clientele and staff. Good choice of drinks.

Great lunch! The seafood crepe was amazing! The service was almost friendly but the meal was exceptional. Could use some tunes though for atmosphere!

Good clean lrg rooms. TV sink,ac, nice linen. Shower s/toilets, m n f. comunal solid n clean. Kitchenette very good.. Balcony drinks.n seating Good prices,wkly n overnight 👌. Will come again. Friendly staff. Pub very nice. In town shopping.

Friendly country pub with staff willing to make you welcome. Bistro meals were reasonably priced and tasty.

Food was fantastic. Can't rate highly enough. Called in on a Tuesday before flight back to Sydney had the seafood crepe - amazing - son had a steak he loved it cooked to perfection wife's pizza looked delicious as well. Thanks for a really positive experience.

Close to the airport, and if you request, they will pick you up from the airport and drop you off!! Staff is very helpful and friendly. You can get to Airlie beach by bus if you feel adventurous. The room is simple and clean. Remember you did not book the room to stay in the room. The Bistro serves great pub meals and good serves. The rooms are above a pub. But very quiet!!

Best scotch fillet steak I've had for an extremely long time.. and pineapple slices with the salad OMG!!!! Da bomb 😁 and the staff/owners extremely helpful and make you feel at home. It is a must stop over for a meal and stay.

Been in twice, food is good value, well presented and the bistro staff are great. Can't say the same about the bar, seems the regulars get served first, couldn't make a lemon lime and bitters? then was served premium beer when asked for light, irresponsible when serving a driver!!!!

5 min walk from train station. I really enjoyed my stay, rustic charm, good atmosphere. I liked that there was a kitchen available for use as well as a good restaurant. The owner will get out of his way to be genuinely helpful.

30th May 2024....not going back to the place I have enjoyed visiting for the last 2 years....until new management is in place. Your blonde backpacking barmaid is the most sour yet. Horrible to see a bar full of patrons waiting for service and having to instruct the staff about the exact drink they ordered...while getting a sour smirk. SHANNON is her name. When served your blonde bob cut bairmaid on a visa contract for 88 days...jams your change and incorrect drink order into your hand and walks away. Disgusting and would not recommend. If I could leave no stars I would.
