What a nice place to stay! Very clean and comfortable rooms. Bus stop across the street takes you right into CBD in about 15 minutes. Bar and restaurant on premises with ample parking. Terri at reception was a wonderful font of tourist information.

we were on our way back home from Wingfield n decided to call onto the Rex for lunch the meals were excellant n the staff sevice could not be faulted nothing was too much trouble they couldn't do enough for us

Went to the newly furnished dining room last and had a wonderful evening. Our waiter Steven was so attentive and personable ,he really made us feel welcome. The new menu is perfect for the warmer weather and Steven patiently explained the new ordering system which I was expecting to be harder than it actually is !
Our steaks were perfectly cooked, 1 rare and 1m/r which is sometimes a hit or miss when dining elsewhere so compliments to the chef.
Had a flutter in the new gaming room to round off a perfect evening with a little win.
We'll be back !!

We have enjoyed many homely meals at the Rex Hotel over many years and tonight was our first time since the renovation.
I have just had my 80th birthday and have experienced years of national and international
dining at many levels.
I can truly say that I have never experienced a more disgraceful standard of food and service anywhere, than I had the misfortune to be subjected to this evening.
The dining room manager was the rudest person I have ever experienced.
The food was vile. The roast of beef was grey and tough, the fish had been incinerated and served with chips but the accompanying salad did not appear but the wilted similarity had to be requested. My 12 scallops at $32 were grotesque, lukewarm, miserable things draped in endive, ginger and a few bits of dead bacon.
It was difficult to decide which was worse. Was it the disgraceful food, the service of the well meaning but sadly inept waiter who was unable to perform the simplest of tasks and complained about the inability to hold three plates.
As for bar service, it was useless. Ice buckets were not provided for white wine and there was no table service.
Promptly at 8.20pm we were told we had 10 minutes to leave, although we were still finishing our wine. When I queried the camp commandant I was told the kitchen closed at 8pm and we were no longer welcome.
I have never been so appalled or disgusted by any food outlet I have attended in this state.
We live in the Eastern suburbs and due to the car race road closures, we chose to drive west to eat with friends on that side of town. It took us 90 minutes to take the trip to experience the worst meal and service of our lives. We will not be back and we recommend you boycott this disgraceful establishment.

We had a very enjoyable meal and evening at the Rex Hotel. The service was friendly and efficient with Ash looking after us. The food was very good and beer special was good value.

We had a fantastic work Xmas Lunch here! Thanks boss for finding a great pub with a great meal menu!
I had the Rex special pizza and loved it so much, I got a doggy bag!

Very surprised to be honest. Stayed here for 2 nights the weekend and the room was great value for money. Super clean and the shower was perfect. Gaming and bistro has been renovated and look great! Ate twice, and both times the food was on point. Anthony on check in went above and beyond. Only let down was Slow service in the bistro/gaming room downstairs but maybe an off night?

Very reasonably priced and meals are very delicious. I love the fact that drinks are free when your playing pokies. I have never heard of this at any other venue I have been to but however I am not a gambler. I just did it to waste time as I had to wait until the kitchen opened at 12.

The location was the key factor for us. We found the rooms were more than adequate and very clean. Got a good night's sleep. Staff were very friendly, and we were given surprise free drinks tokens. Good value overall.

The check in was just awful. I chose this place as a recommendation from the QANTAS website, and when I arrived the female receptionist continued to raise her voice at me. I am a person of colour and I would like to think it was not racism, however, I don’t know because once I mentioned my place of work, and my work was paying for the stay, she lowered her voice.
Response to hotel: When I arrived at the hotel I gave my name and I was asked for my credit card. I asked whether my company had left their credit card details because if they hadn’t then I would need to ring them. The receptionist then began raising her voice at me and telling me I should do as I was told. I stated that I would only be staying for one night. I asked, if she was ‘the manager’, and she nodded and said ‘yes’. the receptionist then said why wait I can cancel your booking now and she began going through the computer. She then told me that she couldn’t cancel my booking because it was in my company name and she asked who I worked for. So I told her and she gasped she then began reading the details for the booking and her demeanour began to change. Then a light skinned Caucasian person came into the reception and the receptionist then began speaking politely to me. I felt sick. I got to my room and wrote this review straight away because that kind of behaviour is just not okay. I also couldn’t wait to check out as early as I could the next morning and decided to carry the cost myself. Thank you hotel manager for your response, I do understand how credit cards work as I’ve been working in the system for some 28 years. Next time ask for context and get your facts right.

Was here for goat curry but i missed it, it was no longer available.
wings awesome, bread and dips top notch it was really amazing..
Will be definitely back to try some new specials in coming days…. Keep up the good work.

I'm not sure if this is an entirely fair review as I know the hotel has been going through some massive changes including the refurbishment of their dining room. Having said that, my first time visit since the refurb was pleasant enough. There were new team members there to serve and take orders etc, who were clearly doing their utmost to ensure I received what I needed. They were accommodating emough to swap regular fries with sweet potatoe fries, so I was happy with that. As a local, I'll definitely come back to see how things are progressing. A plesant enough experience.

Hi last night was looking forward to having a meal at the renovated bistro however the meal was extremely disappointing. Ordered the garlic prawns and when it came out it looked like a bowl of soup, way too much sauce, the prawns were not cooked well and had an unusual taste. Neither my meal or my Mum's was very nice. Great location and upgrade to the place but the food is terrible

Harry in the front car was a wealth of knowledge. And for a younger person than I he seemed fairly well up to date with the history of previous bar flies. We ordered from the meal and drink special list which was unbelievable value and fantastic taste. Also the staff and another manager I spoke with in the gaming room were very polite and friendly. All in all was a great mid week lunch with mum. Keep up the good work

Handy location only being 5 mins or so from the airport by car, very pleasant check in (although make sure you go in the right door otherwise you have to weave through the bar areas - its on the left side of the building as you look at the hotel from the road), very clean rooms and obviously recently renovated bathrooms. Also pretty good value for money i would say.

Had my Birthday celebrations for 40 people, really nice place to be. Service was great, bar staff very polite and food was great. Recommended 👍

Had lunch today. Big group 20 + 10 x under 10 years. For a 9 year old Birthday. Went after a Bounce session. Kids meals came out promptly and then adult meals were delivered with no fuss and no mistakes. All delicious. Bar staff super helpful and positive. Checked in to ensure all was OK. Wait staff efficient and friendly. Great experience considering taking kids out. No kids area or anything like some pubs but big enough to accommodate. We'll done.

Great location close to the airport. Friendly staff with excellent customer service. The food was on point, absolutely delicious and great value. The rooms were moden small but cosy had everything you need and the bed was super comfy, love the fact that you got one hard pillow and one soft. Nothing worse than not having a pillow that's comfortable. The only thing I would suggest is having sugar free beverages.

Firstly the check in was a breeze! With Ashley getting us in straight away.
The whole place is elegant.
The pokie room is filled with a variety of machines for those who like choices.
Dinner was absolutely perfect from start to finish (Great work chef!!). The rack of ribs was deliciously mouthwatering and hot chips were crispy yet soft on the inside and perfectly salted, the aioli sauce complimented it perfectly. The wife devoured the bruschetta, best thing she's had in her mouth. 😉
The service was excellent, speedy and polite. You guys have awesome staff members! Who need a payrise 😆😆
The rooms are cosy and modern with a hint of industrial style.
Will definitely be back!

Checking in was hassel free and the gentleman was super friendly and helpful. Although the room was somewhat on the small side it was extremely clean and very modern.
Unfortunately the dining experience wasn't that great...both of our main meals were terrible.
On our trip home I realised the electric shaver charger had been left behind. I spoke to 2 hotel staff members - both offered exceptional service and the charger made it back to me within 3 days!!! For this reason alone I will certainly be staying there again :)..(prob avoid the dining room though).
Staff went above and beyond to re check the room, lost property area, front desk and then arranged for the charger to be returned.

Amazing food and great service. Love the food we ordered. Nepalese curry was quite unexpected to see but definitely worth the try. ❤️
