Worst customer service I’ve ever seen, been going here 17 years, has been a change of staff and management of late and the care factor of staff towards patrons now is Zero! Would love to see the friendliness that brought me here to start with as well as the efficient service I once admired. Now I can wait long periods with no one acknowledging me and serving me. POOR FORM!

We absolutely adored our stay at Rex Hotel! A true gem worth visiting. Our friend group had a fantastic time thanks to the top-notch service and helpful staff. Special shoutout to Akash, who was incredible and lovely. Plus, bonus: free chips! Highly recommend this wonderful establishment.

This place feels like a pub should, I had a few well priced pints with some old friends, played some pool. 2nd time I’ve been there and likely will be our meeting point for a late night session in Melbourne going forward.

The Rex is only good because of the staff, the manager Andrew is just amazing aswell as all of the other staff that serve me everytime I’m here. Fairly priced drinks but top notch service. Nothing fancy but just what you want from a pub, good service and fair prices!

The manager is incompetent. The owners should be disgusted by the bar staff. Security were lovely so thanks to them. But in all honestly the manager with the glasses was completely unreasonable. The Rex just lost 8 regular customers. Sack the manager. He shouldn’t work in hospitality.

Recently had the pleasure of enjoying an evening at this intimate venue, and it's undeniably a cozy gem. The standout, however, was Dhruv, whose bartending prowess shone brightly with his unique concoctions. His skillful mixology and welcoming demeanor made our experience truly memorable. I'm already looking forward to returning and savoring more of Dhruv's exceptional drinks. A definite must-visit!

On Saturday i went again to the rex hotel. And i had blast, it was really nice to get serve by vinolia. She is very friendly and polite. Thats why we keep coming to the rex because you get served by one of the friendliest staff and funny staff.

It's a good small pub, have been there a couple of times to relax and watch football matches.
Cheap beer 6$ for a pint.
There are no proper meals being served as they dont have a chef yet, but two Indian blokes Candy and the one with long hair were amazing. made me a good toastie at 2am.
Will definately visit again.

I’m very unhappy with how the staff the Rex currently employs. They were very rude to me at closing time, I asked if I could finish my drink. The staff member threw up their hands and said ‘how long will you take 3 hours, 4 hours!’. It was 12.03 and people were still playing pokies. I was shocked at how rude and aggressive this person was to me. No respect for the customer. Shameful!!

I just witnessed an elderly gentleman, after showing his proof of vaccination in paper format, turned away from The Rex, Port Melbourne. He was at yelled at by a staff member at the door and told to go and buy a phone. ONLY people with smart phones are allowed here. I would not go to The Rex if my life depended on it. Melbourne gone mad !!

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Walked in tonight, being Fathers Day evening, with my family to have a quick drink. The barman, and I use the term loosely, had the worst attitude I have experienced in many years. His body language and level of rudeness was out of this world. When I called him out on his bad service and asked for the manager, he refused to serve me. I waited a little while until it became evident that he wasn't calling the manager and decided to leave.
Any future patrons, please keep away from this establishment and give your business to other more worthy establishments who will welcome your custom. To the owners/managers, I suggest you address these issues promptly as staff like this are extremely bad for your business and certainly don't deserve to draw a wage.

Friendly staff, but overall a bit of a dive bar for locals. The majority of the floor space was pokies and the TAB, with an old pool table. The main food was packets of chips but the bar tender could make you a toasted sandwich.
