About Roches Family Hotel
Casual 19th-century pub with a restaurant & a bar, plus bare-bones rooms with shared bathrooms. Set in a 19th-century building with an ornate exterior, this relaxed, family-owned pub with rooms is near the Clarence River. It's a 5-minute walk from Grafton Regional Gallery and a kilometer from Grafton train station. The basic rooms feature sinks, ceiling fans and shared bathrooms. There's no air conditioning. The casual pub has a warm restaurant, a bar and a pool table. Other amenities include a children's play area and a communal kitchen and TV lounge.

We were recommended the food so we ate a burger off the menu. It was delicious. The spicy hawaiian burger. Great flavour and cooked perfectly. Good venue, clean and tidy and friendly service. You should go.

We went there on a Monday evening. The prawn and fennel dumplings were delicious, and we had the $12 steak specials - my wife reckons it's the best she has ever had. I highly recommend the brownie dessert. Don't miss this place.

We stayed last night in this lovely pub. Staff were extremely welcoming, food was amazing (slow cooked lamb) and couldn't believe our double room was only $60! Bed was very comfortable, lovely white sheets and towels and clean bathrooms. Of course you need to realise it's an old pub with share bathrooms and looking tired but a reminder that travellers can get a clean bed for little more than cost of a campsite! Looking forward to coming back to sit on those huge verandahs on a warmer summer evening!

We stayed in a place nearby and this place was within walking distance for dinner. The food was so good the first night we went back the second night. Staff was lovely the lady at the bar was very efficient and polite with the orders and drinks, food was timely and always cooked to perfection. If we are ever back in Grafton we will be coming back.

Went in on a Friday afternoon for a pint and a feed. The meal was fresh, and the beer icey cold and poured to perfection. I had the barra, chips, and salad. Can't go wrong and they did not disapoint. Very tasty. Recommend going here if passing through Grafton.

We had dinner at Roaches last weekend while we were in town. Great food, great price and portions were large, no-one went hungry or complained. Eating this dinner was about the only time the 7 men were quiet during our long weekend. Definitely worth eating there!!!

We enjoyed the salt and pepper squid entree, salmon main, lamb monte main, and veal schnitzel main. The dishes came to the table quickly and were very generous portions! No complaints

The Bistro here has Amazing meals at great prices. Can't wait to eat out here again.

Stayed a night in the rooms at Roches Family Hotel in Nov 2016. It was not grand nor was it bad, it was exactly what we paid for minus the toilet paper (yep no toilet paper in either of the share toilets, which made for a not so pleasant start to the day).||The rooms we stayed in had a basin, three single beds and a few cupboards and dresser that were dated.||The hotel was quite in the evening and we could not hear the pub below. I also commend the owners for not putting TVs in the room, makes for a very nice change!||I would stay here again but only if I could get a room at a discounted price. I review the rooms at 3/10.||The last part of this review is the excellent pub below the rooms. We had dinner and drinks there and it was fantastic. The service was smart and attentive and the food very tasty. I review that part 9/10.

Serving great food at present, but unfortunately their customer service experience is poor due to management on putting on one bar staff, who also has to take food orders & run around with that business. I do recommend the good quality well priced for at present.

Roches, as everyone that has been there knows.. has been a hit and miss with changing ownership.. thankfully new owners are awesome. Table of 10. Air con. Great food. Get behind them will ladd a photo of my soft shell and calamari so good omg get that

New owners have created an aesthetically pleasing environment yet service is average and the quality of food is poor and stereotypical pub meals if that. The resturaunts owners seem to have funnelled all their money into furnishings instead of competent staff. Sad.

My wife and I wanted a nice, basic dinner in Grafton on a Sunday night. I phoned Roches Family Hotel and was told the restaurant was open and given directions to get there. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and promptly seated with the menu. There was a good choice of meals, the service was friendly and our meals were very nice, well presented and moderately priced.||

My husband and I were road tripping from Queensland to Sydney and stopped here for dinner. What a perfect choice because my husband and I had such beautiful dinners. I loved the nachos and my husband loves the steak. The service was lovely with staff taking genuine interest in us.

My husband and I stopped on our return to Queensland. Great service from staff and friendly conversation from locals. My husband loved the slow cooked ribs and I enjoyed fish and chips. Value for money lunch

Mum and I went for lunch. We both had the chicken schnitzel mash and greens with lemon sauce. It was bloody good. Chicken was juicy and tender potato was smooth and creamy greens had just the right amount of crunch. But that sauce was to die for. All in all a very nice time spent with friendly and helpful staff.

Many locals would remember jarmers pasta, lakelands, chicken oxford. 10yrs ago this was one of the best pubs for lunch and dinner. The outside courtyard was delightful, the inside had 2 awesome function areas (we’ve all sat at the long table). The food was great and reliable. Then the pub changed hands (a couple of times maybe). Its never been the same since, often closed, often empty. I really hope the owners can get this place back up and running, 7 days, lunch and dinner. It was closed today, the Crown hotel around the corner was PACKED.

I was told I had a job at this farm and the boss put me in this hotel for accommodation in Grafton absolutely disgusting place to stay the food was ok but I was told to work fruit picking they paid us $2 a kilo cash money for picking berries aswell as 100 or more ppl from overseas to work for peanuts Woolworths is the invester
And a bunch of other indian guys who spoke no english

If you are passing through Grafton looking for lunch then look no further. My partner had the schnitty burger and I had the beef burger which was on par with one of the best I’ve ever had. Patty was perfectly cooked, moist and well seasoned, Jack cheese melted, and the soft and sweet brioche bun rounded out with perfect special sauce. Served with excellent hot chips on the side. Recommend enjoying in the beer garden.

If I could no stars for room I would. Do not stay in the rooms. It was traumatising. Couldn't stay there. absolute rip off. The other guests are back Packers / Berri pickers and the only word I can use to sum it up is Unhygienic. The place should really be reported.

Highly recommended, kitchen is revamped and is awesome, very good menu, cannot fault it. (Dumplings are easy 10/10.
Great atmosphere at the pub, definently the most character of any pub in town, must visit when next in Grafton.

Great lunch menu, very affordable and the food is sensational. We ate lunch there two days in a row and on both days I had the falafel and my partner had the chicken schnitzel and the pizza. Our friends had the lamb and chicken burger. All five dishes were fantastic.

Great country feel Sunday night pub stay. Lovely staff made the night both satisfying and fulfilling with the local pizzeria delivering to the main bar. Definitely would stay here again. Comfy beds, good amenities. Lovely set up in the beer garden, including little surprises and entertainment for kids. Extremely helpful and friendly publican. Many thanks to the bar attendee who explained the correct order of a beer being a midi in NSW and Pot in VIC, and waiting for the pizza delivery with me.

Good clean cheap accommodation upstairs and a delicious feed down stairs. Great friendly staff and a great atmosphere. I first stayed here as a second year apprentice over 10 years ago. It's cool to walk back into a place and know where you are, receive the same warm welcome. I'll be back next time I'm working in town for sure.

A real find.
Food and atmosphere is great and the outdoor seating area is a place to enjoy the food.
I would rate the food as good as you will find outside of the major cities and the staff are friendly and helpful.
I would have given it a 5 star but the decor is laid back and could do with a minor update.

All in all not horrible my wife's parmi was quite good and my chicken I think from memory was called Oxford chicken on the menu was lovely unfortunately it was the size of an entree dish while my wife's was more than she could eat.
Other than that my only other complaint was the heat and stuffiness in the dining room.
