While the $12 rump steak + drink is probably the cheapest within its proximity, the quality really isn't there. Otherwise, friendly bar staff.
Will return for the cheap eats.

While otherwise ok, while visiting found the women's toilets in this terrible state, and when we notified the staff they gave little indication of caring.

We walked in and immediately smelt cigarette smoke. The door behind the bar for staff to access the smoking area was propped open, allowing the smell of ciggy smoke to waft through the indoor dining area. Asked a manager if the door could be closed and he said it would be inconvenient. Never going back.

Used to had more choice of menu but seems like changed it's like steak house. Price was bit expensive from this pic price around $30 from lunch time mmmmm but food was good. 😉 I enjoyed

Truly disappointing Thursday night experience. After having nothing but positive experiences with great food and drinks and a friendly crew after meeting a manager named Morgan this drastically changed my opinion of this once Pristine establish. Rude and hostile towards both members of the public and his own staff where I saw him yell at a young Asian female member of staff leaving her in tears. I was terrified for the safety of myself and the others around me. Hopefully Morgan is dealt with appropriately.

This place serves up some good food. I have taken the family here a few times and i have to single out the steak as its really good. The wife always gets the Lasagne and loves it. There is plenty of parking and it has a great Atmosphere, the prices are also pretty reasonable

The pub area and drinking is fine. But the kitchen has gone down hill. Really overpriced. Poor service. Gets orders wrong. And the quality of the meals are really very poor. And certainly not with what they charge.

Really comfortable pub. The food selection is good, the Calamari was brilliant. The service was excellent, with all staff members being friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back.

On a warm Autumn day, nothing beats a pub meal and drink at Royal Exchange Hotel, Marrickville. Pokies, TAB and numerous tv’s to watch sports.

Not just the price has increased since last year, also the size has shrink, advertised as 300g, can’t believe the actual steak portion is so small. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!!
BTW, if owner sees this, I have compliant to your staff, ended up with it is what it is

My go to place when doing site work in this area and having a late lunch or early dinner.
I've tried many places in Marrickville and the Exchange has delivered quality meals and a nice atmosphere. Prices are very good, service is very efficient.
Update 03/02/2024.
The menu has changed since the last visit and seems to be simplified and improved. Only had time to stop in for a quick refreshment however will be going back for photos of the new menu in a few days.

My experience was ruined by a particular member of staff, I am not sure of his name but he had little to no hair and believe his name was Morgan. Despite this, my experience was slightly rectified after seeing a couple of love birds behind the bar. They seemed very cute together and the boy should definitely make a move.

It was good until they upped the special prices on the snitty tuesday nights. From a $19 dollar special parmi go a now 24$??? What type of special is that .
It is delicious though ill give it that.

If you’re coming here for food make sure you don’t end up talking to the head chef. Absolutely patronising and rude. I rocked up at 9:15 as the website said food till 10:00 and he was nothing but rude to me when I tried to show him the website said food till 10:00. Tried to give this kitchen a second chance. But now I’d much prefer a toasted sandwich across the road at the Marrickville hotel then have a bite to eat with that awful chef.

I absolutely love the atmosphere and outlay of this place. It's been designed especially for those who want a genuine low cost but hearty pub cuisine. The bar is contagious and good to get to know the lovely bartenders that run this ritzy tavern. Out the back as well as indoors, there are screens everywhere you look with all different sports on. If you feel like a flutter try out a few rounds on the pokie machines for a run for your money. I had a thoroughly enjoyable time when I was there, the meal was delicious. I had a ball winning the dragons pokie machine that I smashed all my winnings out of.

Great schnitzel, well cooked plus chips with sauce of choice & a small salad. Fast friendly service at the bar with plenty of big screens for all the sports action.

Great pub with a lovely fireplace shame about the excessive screens playing sports. Support local culture with live music/open mic or games night. Also shame that in the middle of winter the staff keep the door to the courtyard open while the fireplace is on so that all the heat flows out! Unbelievable why make a fire and then freeze all the patrons!!!!

Schnitty was huge, well cooked and tasty. You get a big portion of chips and a decent salad also.

Cheap filling combos. I usually get the pork belly and my partner the steaks. Quality is hit and miss though - some days they’re quite good, some days just mediocre. Can’t complain much for the price though.

AVOID!!
Overpriced food, terrible quality, tasteless, absolutely bland...not going back.... Ever. Fish and steamed veggies, the fish tasted as boiled (zero flavour), the veggies were undercooked. I myself could have prepared a 100% tastier, yummier meal. As I complained to the waitress, she said: oh, bad luck this time... seriously?? wtfff
There's plenty of better options around there.

absolutely miserable place, televisions covering every wall blasting sports and people arguing/fighting. trashy vibe and not in an interesting way. 0 atmosphere whatsoever

$10 meals! However don't expect cooked to perfection food, steak can be a little dry but decent portions. I love coming here for a quick bite. Plus drink included!
