WOULD YOU EAT PINK CHICKEN!? Dinner this evening started out well. Great even! Our mains come and everything looks great, we get to the chicken wings we ordered and they’re pink, not just “oh they’re chicken wings they’re a little pink” I’m talking RAW CHICKEN. Both myself and my partner went in to speak with the staff about it and were met with dismissive, rude and hostile responses. I am a chef by trade and also work in a kitchen that smokes meat weekly and was told (mind you we were sitting out side and the chicken wings weren’t touched for a good 10 minutes after they came out) that they “temp checked it and it’s cooked” and “that’s nice that you’re A CHEF BY TRADE but chickens cooked, it’s smoked meat it’s going to be a little pink” again, it wasn’t “a little pink” - the bones were red and the entirety of the meat on the bones was raw. It’s disappointing when you spend 80 something dollars on a meal and you’re met with nothing when you refuse to eat undercooked chicken. I can understand if they’re meant to be “a little pink” due to the smoking process but put it on the menu, tell everyone from the get go that it will come out like that. Train your staff to be accommodating, for no offer of a replacement and or a refund (would have even settled for the $16-$18 that the wings were worth), and to also be incredibly rude, disrespectful and dismissive to two patrons who are telling you explicitly that they refuse to eat the main part of their meal and anything that has touched it, and lord knows that they won’t take the constructive criticism that they should put on the menu that the chicken will come out pink (which is still incredibly concerning and I know many a person who will not even consider eating pink chicken). To top all this off, i have been sick twice on the way home honestly makes you feel like calling a health inspector.

We stopped in to have to grab a bite to eat at the royal Federal and we weren't disappointed, the food is exceptionally good and service is very accommodating. Definitely recommend if you're in the area to drop in for a feed.

Went here through a recommendation from pierre at pierre's winery. Was hands down best meal I had during my trip to Hunter valley. So affordable and such good food. We were seated instantly and food was quick to arrive at the table. They had a large selection of foods and drinks on offer, and specials of the day too. We went on a Sunday and they had a oyster deal for $15 per dozen. They were a bit small, however they were still really sweet and we ended up ordering 2 dozens for our table. We shared the smoked bbq menu, ordering beef brisket, pulled pork and chicken wings with a side of sweet potato fries. We got to choose some a selection of dips too and each meat came with a sauce. I would suggest asking them to have the sauces on the side, or specify which sauce you want on which certain meats. The sweet potato fries were so good! I got some blue cheese aoili for my chicken wings, but they also tasted really good with the sweet potato fries! Just a really nice balance of sweet and salty! The pulled pork and chicken wings were delicious with the whisky bbq sauce. The brisket was nice too, but a bit dry. The sauce certainly helped though! Overall, the meal was really good and the ingredients were fresh and made really well. It certainly felt more like a restuarant than a pub!

We asked for a calamari and chips kids meal for my 92 year old grandmother. The lady taking our order refused saying she wasn’t under 12. She said she will get into trouble if she does so. I asked if we could speak to someone higher up than her and she said she was the supervisor on shift. We tried to tell her she won’t eat much, could you make an exception. She refused. We asked if they could use the calamari in a large dish (because she wouldn’t have liked the one that was made as main). Refused again. We asked if they did half meals. She refused. I then said I would buy the calamari and chips as I had my daughter (12 months old) with me. I did intend on giving my daughter the meal. The lady serving us questioned whether I would actually give her the food or if I would sneak it to my grandmother! This kind of service is despicable. It ruined our day out for lunch. I understand some places don’t offer kids meals to people over 12 years but I believe, if it’s on the menu you should be able to order it. It wasn’t an unreasonable request to fulfil. Being questioned if I was ACTUALLY going to give it to my daughter and not my grandmother tipped me over to make this review. I won’t be returning with the kind of service.

This place is a joke... Not 1 person is cut off by bar staff with multiple people intoxicated throughout the premises...not to mention the locals run the pub and dictate to staff and managers...just keep serving the alcohol bar staff and keep your eyes closed.... pathetic...

The food was not what we expected, servings a little shy of the prices charged. We were seated in a private room, that filled with smoke from the gaming room below, turning the whole mean, and experience into one that was unpleasant. Either stop smoking in the gaming room, or don't place diners above it!

Steak lunch. Got a 300 and a 450gm rump. They were beautiful and cooked to perfection. Bistro is upstairs so you can eat on the balcony if you like. Or enjoy the library if you like. Playground available too. Excellent food, staff and selection of commercial and craft beers.

My husband, granddaughter and I visited the bistro fo a meal we are vegetarian, and ordered the vegetarian burger each. The sweet potato patty was cold on the inside and became almost liquid when we attempted to eat it. We both became nauseous due to the disgusting taste and texture. We immediately stopped eating the meal and left, reporting our concerns to the staff who assured that our concerns would be passed on. Several hours later we remain unwell. Beware !!

I was sorely disappointed with my visit, mainly because the brisket burger i ordered was plain and boring as hell, even Macca's do a better burger. My meal consisted of a plain bun, dry burger, 2 whopping big chunks of pickle, a slice of cheese and plain chips. No tomato sauce, no lettuce, tomato or presentation, my son ordered the loaded lamb fries mainly loaded with bbq sauce and cheese (hardly any lamb), he left 80% of it. My husband ordered the chicken wings which were pink and had watery peri peri sauce. I think we'll stick to Burgerfiend in future.

Historic hotel in the middle of Branxton , plenty of parking , downstairs fantastic renovated bar complete with wheel chair accessible from carpark, outside seating and children's playground , inside plenty of seating and pool table. Up stairs dining with a disabled lift that can cater for a wheelchair , toilets on both levels but only disabled downstairs. Food was great but beware a little bit pricey ( brisket burger & chips $25 ). A very place on a Sunday , my advice book a head .

Had a work dinner there with 16 other people. Had to wait for dinner its a popular place. The entrees didnt take to long. I didn't mind the wait for the mains as my Taste of Texas was great. A beautiful dish of meats for the carnivores out there. Would definatly recommend.

Food was lovely. Wait time long as there weren’t many tables occupied, so have no idea why. Plus the loud noises from the kitchen were a bit much!!

First Impressions.... The Feddy gives a welcome vibe on arrival, good blend of old meets new accentuating/highlighting the personality of the building you can feel it's got history and keeps with today's times as it doesn't feel outdated. The food I ate was fantastic! Entree: corn bread & chilli compound butter 🙂 I'm picky about lamb so I had the cutlets of course 😅 they where on point all meet tiny trim of fat 🤗 I would recommend giving this place ago. It really hit the spot!

Everything was great except for that one rude member of the bar staff. Don’t appreciate the side dish of passive aggressive attitude with my drinks. Other then that very good.

Consistently delicious food, great serving sizes, always served hot and everything feels fresh and well cooked. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the specials on most days of the week. The atmosphere is fantastic- friendly and relaxed. Our group loved that women’s cricket was playing on the main screen downstairs after dinner. The staff are wonderful. The drink selection is great.

Came in near the end of service on Sunday lunch. Food was very ordinary. Sweet potato mash was like slop, too much sauce on the Kiev, pork belly had the crackling but was soft and not pleasant. Just very ordinary but at prices that should make the food better than ordinary.

Beautiful old pub that's been very tastefully refurbished!! Downstairs bar staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. We (4pax) went upstairs for lunch (booking) and the food was quite nice but sadly they mixed up the order and the delicious sounding pork chop was replaced with crumbed Lamb cutlets which were quite disappointing. Enjoyable day overall.

An old pub with lots of history, very charming and old world charm. Had dinner in the bistro upstairs which is accessible from stairs and an elevator. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Has a great play area for kids. Great place for families. And the food, of course, is delicious. Definitely will return. It's very popular and bookings are recommended
