We were lucky enough to pick a night when they had live music out in the beer garden. There were plenty of tables to sit at and relax listening to a fabulous musician. And then the food came! The size of the meals was astounding and for pub grub, right up there wilh the best. There is a good range of menu items on offer to suit all tastes. I defy anyone to say they left this hotel hungry!

We waited 45 minutes for our meal. The steak was chewi, no taste at all. The burger is a miss. So disappointed, we read some good reviews but we'll never return. The two stars for the staff, who were nice and helpful.

Went for the Sunday roasts on Easter and wow! Couldn’t fault the food, staff or venue. We tried the pork belly, chicken and rump beef roasts.

We had lunch here at the royal hotel in bungendore today (march 2024 ) . The service was friendly and inviting from the first foot in the door and continued through out visit . Our food was fresh ,tasty and fast ,the pricing was reasonable . The hotel has recently gone through a renovation and the new interior looks great . We would definitely return .

Visited just after Christmas. The new renovations are just lovely whilst still maintaining that relaxed country feel. Plenty of tables inside and out. Cleanliness was to a very high standard. Child friendly environment. Drinks and food were great. Happy to be a return customer.

This review is for the restaurant. This is our first time getting takeaway from the pub since the Chinese restaurant moved on and I have to say we will not be back! Firstly we were charged $3 extra to what was listed on the menu and then told (only once we questioned it) that it was because the price of prawns has gone up... we only got 2 prawns in the whole dish.. the fish was tasteless and dry, the scallops and calamari were chewy and inedible and the gold plated prawns weren't much either. They weren't fresh they were massed produced prawns from a packet that I could have brought from any supermarket. Overall very disappointed at the quality for the price. I would have got better food at a dirty takeaway for less money for the same amount of food but at least it would be edible. My dog (who eats everything) wouldn't even touch it so that's saying something.

There are plenty of great place to eat in Bungendore. Unfortunately this is not one of them. Noisy, slow service and food is not great. What I ordered was allegedly Shepherds pie but was actually a breakfast bowl filled with $29 of mash potatoes plus $1 of meat. Some partly cooked broccoli, peas and carrots was added on the side for special effect.

The new owners have done well turning this place into a warm, family friendly pub with a good feed. It's a clean place for a beer and smash around on the pinball machines. The outside area seems nice and would be a lovely place for Sunday sooner while the kids run around.

Terrible service and not great food. Won’t go back. One and a half hour wait for chips and two hour wait for food. Food is very average. It’s a shame because it could be great. We would have been happy if someone apologised.

Stayed for dinner on a week night, the building is a nice mix of its heritage with modern features. The service was fast, and the food was generous and delicious (I had what I can only describe as a loaded parmy, and the sticky date was piping hot and fresh). Would definitely come back.

service was slow, food took almost an hour to arrive. if you like deep fried everything, including frying all foods in the same oil, such as chicken kiev and fish and chips then this place is for you. if you like decent food, head to the George. eaten there twice, no third chance

Passing through Bungendore and stopped for lunch. Luckily we went for a walk and found this hotel in Gibraltar St ( parallel with main St). Beautifully restored Hotel reopened in Dec 23. Great meals and open inside and rear dining. Plenty of beers on tap. No pokies, no TAB. Had the Garden salad and added chicken. Very fresh and went down a treat with a Balter. Staff very friendly. Highly recommend.

Jan 2024. Old pub at the front, renovated out the back to update it. Very nice. We had to wait on putting an order in so kitchen could catch up also had run out of some soft drink flavours. Garlic Bread & Potato Gems we nice. Other meals were OK. Family friendly. Would go back to give it another go.

I had the Aussie Parmi and it was massive. Came with chips and a very nice salad. The Parmi was covered in mushroom sauce and cheese plus an egg and was pretty damn good for pub grub. Hubby had bangers and mash which wasn’t as good so there was a fair bit of food envy. Beer was excellent though.

Great vibe, good selection of on tap beers and other. Friendly staff, good service and food. Large meals. The Pub has been well renovated, large outdoor seating and classic front pub facade still in place. We had a great night and the food was reasonably priced compared to some other local establishments.

First came here when the bistro first opened - wasn't impressed. So was happily surprised this visit. Our food was hot and tasty - very good pub food. I had a steak sandwich which was very good value, well cooked and an excellent size. Friends had the Mixed Grill which had a good selection of meat, another had the aussie parma and lastly we had the thai beef salad.||||All were generous serves, and cooked as requested. ||||Staff were very friendly and helpful.||||very glad we returned.

Efficient service but meals were so salty that no other flavours could be found. Crumbed calamari on a surf and turf was also a new experience. Though we aren’t vegetarian or vegan, we have friends and family who are - very few options available.|So creativity with the vegetables would be great. Huge hunks of carrot and dry mash isn’t worth coming back for.|Though our dogs really enjoyed the left over rump that we brought home.

A great renovation job and well worth coming back to. Staff are friendly and helpful. A good menu choice. In the food front, there is room for improvement. Garlic prawns tough and chewy, rissoles and seafood basket are out of a supermarket freezer box. On the other hand, great fresh fries. We will be back as the surroundings are great on a sunny summer afternoon. ☀️

Absolute crying shame there is no proper front bar with stools to sit at, rather it is a modern bar where you order drinks and then go and sit at individual tables. New renovation is nice but too similar to the pub down the street owned by the same people. I’m overhearing the locals who have come to check the new renovation out saying “it’s alright” which about sums it up. Front bar makes or breaks a place and in this instance it’s a break. Almost unrecognisable from what it was before the renovation. Will be another venue that caters well to the mass canberra tourist crowd but lacking in old school charm.
