We had a wonderful date night with fantastic food and friendly staff. I highly recommend the pasta bosciola, just delicious 😋
And big thanks to the chef for allowing us to order 2 minutes past closing (we went by the website 9pm close, which has since changed to 8pm with new owners).

very welcoming and friendly staff, great food, facilities and atmosphere. the food at the bistro was fresh and delicious and the lovely lady who served us made us feel very welcome and constantly engaged with and made my 6 yr old daughter laugh while she served us dinner and dessert. the bar area had plenty of beers on tap and many screens to view sports. the fire places scattered through the place made it feel very comfortable and warm. i would definitley recommend this place for a beer or a bite. the day time view of the river out back looks fabulous.

Very nice staff. Super cheap lunch menu, $12 per meal and tasted delicious! We had grilled barramundi, chicken schnitzel, steak and squid. All were a good size and were served with chips and salad.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food was very reasonably priced and of exceptional quality. We could only just fit in the chocolate volcano cake, which was beautiful - we were stuffed! The kids loved this place - very high praise from some picky eaters!

This is a high ceiling era building. The Public Bar has good and friendly service with many eye catching signs and objects around the walls. Don't expect "with it" cocktails etc. - this is not an "in crowd" pub. The Kitchen is of an open style and provides a cheery atmosphere. The adjacent Dining / Lounge area is dated and brightened by a delightful selection of eye catching Australiana prints. There is plenty of seating and a wood stove giving welcoming warmth during the Winter. The rear Patio / Beer garden has a covered area which is enclosed in inclement weather by drop down, see through plastic screens. This area contains what I feel is the Hotel's prime feature - a beautiful view over Queen Elizabeth Park and the Manning River

The sirloin steak was exceptional today. The texture was perfect and a generous size. Really spacious pub with gorgeous views over the manning River.

Super friendly staff. Good poker games.. Had lunch here yesterday. I ordered fish and chips after confirmation that the fish used was NOT basa.It was flathead tails and it was absolutely delicious.

Ok this place was great. Amazing little bistro with awesome food and great prices. The locals were so genuinely friendly and we didn't feel out of place. It was open microphone night so a great opportunity to meet others and have a sing and relax after a stressful week. Really looking forward to going back in November.

It's a run of the mill standard pub. The vibe is ok, I felt safe and no one has bothered me any time that I've been here. The food is adequate and good portion sizes with nothing to complain about, and they do have a couple of veggie options that are really reasonable. Service has been friendly enough.

Have had to edit my original review. Went back last week for the lunch special and it's now $14 ($2 increase) and the schnitzels have become worse; tasted like oil, cheap processed chicken (not a "real" breast anymore). Tried it again a few days later (benefit of the doubt) but no, same again.
Staff were friendly and service was fast even though they were pretty busy.
Grabbed a table outside overlooking the river - cracker of a spot.

Had $12 Barramundi for Lunch. Absolutely spot on!! Goodsize portions, great chips, salad had yummy dressing plus came with tartae sauce. Very friendly staff, lovely clean premises. We will be back !

Great pub grub at such a reasonable lunch time rate.
I had barramundi, delicious.
Staff are lovely. Great views over the Manning river.
The only down side , the smokers tables are in the outdoor patio area where it's so nice to sit, smoke and eating just don't mix anymore.

Great atmosphere. I ordered the Royal Salad. Unfortunately like other eateries, the plate is excessively full of rocket with very little else. Less is more of the greens. Nothing much more was on the plate. It's both unappealing and a waste. Otherwise a nice location to enjoy lunch with friends.

Fantastic food! The 12$ lunch special is great. Great atmosphere. I like to sit out the back with the river views, and my dog is always welcome

Do yourself a favour and head to the royal for dinner. It’s the best most reasonably priced meal in Taree. My wife and I go every Tuesday for trivia night, which by the way is a hoot, and ensure we order dinner. I can personally say the 400g T-Bone is one of the best I’ve ever had.
The staff are awesome and the whole place has a great atmosphere.

Cheap meals, however,
Directly across from the kitchen is a smokers area with the door propped open. Entire venue smelling like cigarette smoke and causing my family to sit outside in the cold.
Required to come up and collect meals of substandard quality, even ordered a second meal as the first wasn’t palatable, which was just as standard. Also paying over $2 extra for one cardboard takeaway container for the uneaten meals.
Staff were friendly though and the venue was tidy and spacious.

Beyond our expectations. Gorgeous hotel and the views are stunning, especially on a nice day. The staff be areas very friendly and go above and beyond to help out. The flathead and chips was big enough for two (we shared and they gave us two plates be and cutlery without us asking - that's great service). We also enjoyed our 4 Pines and Peroni on tap - total meal including drinks were $31 (peroni on special though)

Awesome service from staff at the Royal Hotel and as for the VIP LANGE the service is the best in town you never loose playing the pokies cause everyone is a winner at the Royal no matter what
