Vegos & Vegans - this is your place for a fried "chicken" fix! The food is so good, my partner isn't veg so he got the beef brisket and he was also really happy. The sides are awesome as well. Highly recommend!

Top 3 must eat spots in Hobart. What a shame that we only found out about third on our last day of the trip. I’d give this spot 6 out of 5 if I could. The absolute best fried chicken I have ever had in any restaurant ever and that slaw. The cocktails were spot on and the their smokey take on the classic pina colada was amazing. Over the top theatrics (which I absolutely loved) and such a balance of flavour wow. Kudos to the guys behind the bar. What a spot.

Really, really disappointing food. Ordered online. No indication online of how many pieces of chicken come in the large or small serve. Ordered a large which arrived with 5 pieces of Maryland chicken - at least one which only had the "oyster" meat, the rest being bone. Expected full thigh and leg pieces. This was intended to feed one large, hungry, teen and a normal adult. It didn't. The fried potato skins looked and tasted like warm Smith's crisps - didn't look or taste like any potato skins I've ever eaten. The Mac n cheese tasted like packet mix pasta. The XO sauce on the greens was bland and indistinguishable as XO sauce. Only ordered as Doordash offered free delivery but was then slapped with a service charge that exceeded the delivery cost. 🙄 The only plus was that it was prepared and arrived quickly.

Really cool venue in midtown offering boneless chicken and drinks. The toilets…wow!
My cocktail was fabulous, and the menu layout is great.
My chicken was dry and unlike all the boneless chicken I’ve had before. The sauce helped a lot. The corn side was tasty and juicy. Service wasn’t awesome but it did feel as though the team was understaffed for an unexpected busy lunchtime shift…

Ordered through ubereats and the serving sizes were so small - $17 for 3 pieces of fried chicken and $17 for about a single burger patties worth of grilled chicken. Hand for comparison - definitely not $34 worth of food. Was delicious though.

Must visit when in Hobart is you’re in to rum or cocktail’s! Also the vegan fried chicken 😘👌 Get the Canopy cocktail!

Maybe it’s the dark & stormy talking but damn that chicken burger was good. For $16, I’m so full! :) delishhhh

Loved this place! Funky casual bar, lovely staff, but who are you kidding you’re coming for the epic fried chicken!! Love how you can pick your cut, seasoning, sauce! Make sure you get the miso caramel dipping sauce game changer!

I loved the venue - super kitsch and lots of curiosities to catch your eyes as you’re enjoying your meal. We had the feed me menu between two of us and we’re underwhelmed: the boneless chicken was dry and we ended up with two serves of potato mash and chips as the sides - spud overload

If I'm paying $22 for a cocktail I don't expect it to be 70% ice. The chicken was okay, a bit dry, could of gone to Nando's and gotten something so much better for a much cheaper price. The only reason it gets 3 stars is because the customer service was great 👍

If I could six star this place, I would.
Succulent, juicy chicken perfectly coated with a thin, gold and crispy armour of batter made for one perfect bite after another (the "Almost Whole Bird" option is pictured here).
We couldn't get enough of it and ordered extra Spicy boneless chicken breast bites with Rum BBQ sauce - an absolute banger of a choice , with the spicy coating and tangy-sweet bbq making for a sweet little dance of flavour.
The sides were also spectacular - nicely grilled, buttered corn kernels plus crispy-out and tender in sweet potato fries to round out our fowl-mouthed dinner.
Would definitely recommend a try (and many more)!

Had a cocktail and a meal here tonight.
What a fantastic place to eat and drink! Drink selection is huge! Fried chicken is amazing, best fried chicken I have had in a long time. The coleslaw was very yummy, came with a bit of dill which complimented the dish. 10/10!
The atmosphere was pumping, music was really good and suited the decor. Loved it!

Great atmosphere, my partner & myself enjoyed the drinks we ordered the staff was very welcoming & friendly. Our meals were delicious and worth what we paid. Will be sure to return next time we visit Hobart.

Delicious vegan chicken and chips with THE most friendly, kind and professional service you will ever find.
I have heard about Rude Boy for ages but it was only a week ago that I went, out on a date with myself.
FAR OUT these are THE nicest people, incredibly fast service, so friendly and though I knew I would be eating total junk food my vegan chicken and chips were delicious!
Even though they are a bar and do not serve tea and coffee they make me a great big mug of tea with almond milk, and didn't charge me.
Comfy, cosy, friendly and great food.

Delicious pregnancy friendly food and NOT dry overly cooked burnt food. The food was juicy, tender and well cooked. Service was outstanding. Great music.

Cute venue but very slow service. We came in as a group of 4 just for some drinks and used the app to order and it took over 30 minutes to get a warm beer delivered to the table and they forgot a cocktail. Won’t be rushing back that’s for sure.

Love this place, always try to sneak a visit if I'm in Hobart
This is very high on my list of must visits if I'm in Hobart. I love the simplicity of the great food and epic cocktails. Its a no miss situation.
It's got a funky Caribbean feel and I think it pulls it off. There is a lot to love about this place but for me it's the chicken🍗🤯🤯🤯

Came for the gluten free fried chicken, was blown away by the cocktails, service and all of the food. Made me wish I had room to eat and drink it all over again.
We went and bought the Punch and Ladle spritz in a bottle to keep the night going afterwards.
Love this place.

came at 6 without a reservation but they seated us as long as we could finish by 6:45
took quite a bit to get someone’s attention to order and the food took ages. definitely make a reservation if you’re keen to come and prepare to wait for your food.
cocktails were nice and decently priced during happy hour.
chicken is amazing. got 2 10 oz servings bone-in, salt & pepper + gravy and hot + garlic ranch. both were tender & juicy, superb.

As a coeliac…. I am one happy camper!! Never been able to have fried chicken (always grilled) and I was in heaven !! Staff were so accommodating and had great awareness of coeliac disease! From Brisbane but will definitely be back for that fried chicken !!!!

Arriving in a Hobart this was our first stop after a few recommendations. After a 15 minute walk in the rain Rude Boy did not disappoint. Probably the best meal we’ve had in the last 3 years. It was 2pm so pretty quiet, we had the boneless salt and pepper deep fried chicken and oh man, so good. Chips were the best we’ve had anywhere and the coleslaw was fresh and crunchy. Yummy cocktails and tap beer. I want to get it for dinner but husband won’t let me ha ha.

A must visit when in Hobart! Delicious fried chicken and cocktails. Lovely staff and awesome atmosphere. Extensive cocktails list. Try the feed me menu if you're hungry.

Amazing food. Beautiful drinks, lovely people. Went immediately from having a beautiful burger and spritzer to a nearby bottle-o to purchase their Punch & Ladle fizzyyum beverages

A beautiful space and helpful friendly staff. Love the cocktail list but a little on the steep side. Fried chicken is delicious and great options on sauces and sides! Will definitely return, love the vibe
