About Ryan's Hotel
Down-to-earth pub featuring an Italian eatery, a Thai restaurant & a beer garden. Featuring Queenslander-style architecture, this informal pub with rooms is a 3-minute walk from Thirroul train station and a 19-minute walk from Thirroul Beach. The modest rooms offer TV, fridges and air conditioning, plus en suite bathrooms. Amenities include an Italian restaurant, as well as a laid-back bistro with a beer garden. There's also a down-to-earth Thai restaurant. Parking is available.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Vinos restaurant. The food and service were excellent. There was a nice variety of food, pizza and beverages to choose from. Staff were friendly and very efficient. We didn't need to wait long for our meals and will definately return for another enjoyable meal.

We had dinner in the wine bar upstairs - the food was amazing and the service was excellent. Later, we had a dessert beer downstairs and mused over the fashion choices of today's young people. How we giggled and rolled our eyes... A solid selection of beers on tap, overall a great night out.

We had a private function on Saturday night. The function was upstairs and we had our own private area that spilled out to the balcony plus our own bar and facilities. A very good set up.
The staff were excellent. Very friendly.
The food we selected was great. The beers were too. I have no hesitation in recommending the hotel and its function room. Thank you to Tom, Greta and team.

We had a great time with frindds at the birthday party. The staff were great and the Pizza were good.||The room was as discribed. Did not enjoy the 5.25 false fire alarm. No one turned up so after 15 minutes we went back to bed.

This is my local, I drink here all the time. It's a great place, local live music and fireplace going in winter. I'm inclined to write this review though because of my experiences with the vegan meals offered, to spare any other vegans a disappointing meal. I really appreciated them adding 2 options (I'm used to only having hot chips to eat at pubs), vegan nachos and vegan salad. The nachos are pretty inconsistent. Sometimes the beans are very sweet, or very smoky. My vegetarian partner gets guac and sour cream with his, the vegan option doesn't have either (costs $4 more though, I'm guessing due to the vegan cheese). A few times it's come out burnt too. |I've been disappointed enough with the nachos so last night I tried the salad, and it actually made me laugh a lot. The vegan "salad" consists of potato wedges, semi dried tomatoes, cooked carrots and broccoli so overcooked it was no longer a solid. I don't know exactly what constitutes a salad, but mushy vegetables all tossed together with wedges wasn't what I was expecting. Will stick with hot chips in this case. |

The eating upstairs was fantastic and the fire place was perfect. We both had a glass of the house red and shared a half and half pizza (The pizzas are huge) with a glorious pear salad. The pizza was the best I have ever eaten and was perfect in every way from the fabulous blend of flavours to that oh so amazing crust. The tomato base was extraordinary which is an amazing achievement because the base isn't even something I usually notice but this was a wow in my mouth . The flavours were complex and yet so well balanced and delicious . If there was a prize for the best Pizza , they deserve it ! It really was the pizza experience I've always wanted !

Staff really friendly and helpful. Good beer but the burgers we all had were really overcooked. I reckon they had been made in batches earlier in the day, then left to dry out, before being put back on the grill to harden up more prior to serving. However, in mitigation there was only one poor overworked chef in the kitchen, so he probably didn't have much option.
The rest of the food was good, fresh buns and nice toppings for the burgers, and excellent chips, both the sweet potato and normal varieties.

Rooms 4star as haven't been in a while. The beautiful young ladies in the bottleshop always greet you with a smile and are very helpful. Sorry I forgot all 3 young ladies names to mention but it shows quality of service offered. Pub is a quiet pub with some great music/bands offered set in a quiet ideallic location. Would recommend and would return

only have 1 vegan option but it was average. needs guacamole at the very least. Menu is one dimensional, eg the other veg option was “vegan salad” 😳
Be good to have a vegan snitz/Parma with chips on the menu. Maybe then I’d go back….

Old pub with lots of space and two bar access areas. I went to dance. The dance floor isn't very big but is still good once the shoes warm up (a bit grippy to start) but it would be better if there was more air flow through the dance floor. Several entry points and if you have mobility assistance I recommend coming in the back way as it's flat and wide. Nice old pub feel and friendly staff.

Nice pub in Thirroul , Icy cold beers. Had a chicken burger which was ok, i have had better.
Accomodation upstairs is undergoing some improvements with updated bathroom.
One of our party had his room cancelled accidently, whuch resulted in him beung put in my room on a trundle bed.
I would go back and use this pub again.

I don't know the rooms because I always go to buy food! The food is always delicious and made with care! the kitchen chef girl is also very friendly and serves us with great affection! Plus, they have the best price in the area!

Had the worst pub feed of my life here. Burned yet frozen barra (allegedly), thrown on a mass of chunky mashed potato, paired with overcooked carrot with undercooked broccoli, both flavoured with what I can only assume was spray and wipe. Inedible, potentially toxic, and absolutely a waste of $28.

Great size meals, perfectly cooked steak and yes a place that finally gives you a decent serving of sauce on the side. The soft tacos with the chicken were delicious and also a great sized serving, staff were pleasant.

Great for family feeds in downstairs resturant with generous servings, left on counter top when your buzzer goes off for you to collect. Children ok good family venue Closes at 8.30, usually easy to get in bookings not usually required and usual public facilities available. Don't know about rooms have not needed them living nearby.

Great food with large meals & selections available with bar meals down stairs & pizzeria & weekend cocktail bar upstairs. Family friendly bistro, huge selection of tap beers, very friendly staff & the open mic held on Thursday nights showcases some extremely amazing local (& surrounds) talent with a very welcoming crowd. weekend live music is always of high quality... Highly recommend this place as one of the northern Wollongong suburbs premier venues without doubt

Good location in the centre of Thirroul with easy access to the Art exhibition.
Inside it's generally like any other pub. The point of difference was the excellent meat platter. The brisket was outstanding and very tender as were the ribs. We had the full rack of ribs and could just barely finish it (2 people). I think if they put spicy wings instead of the smoky/bbq it would be a perfect match.
The chips are very poor, sorry, but I've had excellent chips at The Waterfront Tavern, Windang Bowlo, The Links. But here the chips are a huge downfall.
The vegies were perfectly tender, not overcooked, great. I would suggest slaw instead of chips.
This was all washed down with a great icy cold 🍻🍺.
They do have a nice outdoor section that doesn't seem to cop too much wind.
Overall I good experience, yes we'd go again, without the chips.
Great spot for a meet-up.

Excellent service and delicious food! Brooke at the bar is always friendly and polite. The Estonian chef makes the tastiest meals I have ever had at a pub. I think his name is Pritt. I look forward to eating there again :)

Came for Mondays 2 for 1.
Medium rare steak was very overcooked.
Took it back to let them know, and was informed by the chef that "it might looked overcooked but it's medium rare in the middle". It wasn't, Pretty disappointing.
Otherwise food is delicious. Sweet potato fries serving is huge and great!

Called in for lunch with friends food tasted as if it had been recooked or reheated dirty carpet and beer stains on several tables and we were the only ones there they need to lift their game. This use to be a nice place to pop in for lunch certainly gone down hill.

Called in for dinner before a show. It was a Monday evening, how lucky where we - buy one main meal get another free. Absolute bargain. The food was delicious we both had the chicken on the bbq with chips and salad. Generous serve and tasted yummy. Such a nice outdoor area to sit on a balmy evening. Wine list ok as well. Enjoyed our time and will return.
