We were travelling Melb to Gold Coast and this day was 1 of our longer drives, so we booked a 1 Bed with balcony view, and WOW what a lovely room with stunning views,|The location as perfect as we wanted to go for a good walk after a days driving, Rydges is perfectly located right beside walking tracks along the beach and into the main shopping area,|The room was magnificent, very tidy, modern and clean..|The staff are very helpful and professional & even though it was a short stay they made it memorable,|If you are making a similar trip or lucky enough to be close to holiday at Port Macquarie then highly recommend, We will be back

We stayed for 2 nights. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Reception, cleaners, dinning and bar staff. The room was a little worn but very clean. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Black out curtains on our east facing room worked great each morning. Breakfast included in our stay was set up very well with a large variety of food a drinks. That was my second stay at the hotel and will be back again.

We encountered several issues with the staff during our one-night stay at this hotel, which claims a 4-star rating. Our morning began unpleasantly at 8:00 a.m. with the disturbance of construction noise emanating from the adjacent room. After enduring this for 30 minutes, we reached out to the reception to voice our concerns, only to be placed on hold and subsequently disconnected. Such treatment falls short of the expectations for customer service at a facility of this caliber.

Unfortunately our $800+ for a one night stay at the Rydges in Port Macquarie, included being woken up at 5.30am by the overwhelming toxic smell of ammonia coming from the air vent in the ensuite (if you have smelt the bottom of a kitty litter, that’s what ammonia smells like). A room attendant came and confirmed the smell was there. They offered for us to relocate but that would have meant waking up my kids and moving everyone. This resulted in me sleeping on the lounge. Very disappointing. I certainly wouldn’t stay there again.

This was our first time staying here and what a wonderful hotel! The staff were all super helpful. The hotel is under renovation so we were in a brand new room. We have already rebooked for our next trip in a couple of weeks. Highly recommend this hotel!

This hotel is in a great position on the waterfront and short walk to shops, restaurants, bars etc. it’s hard to believe this is the same hotel following their recent renovations. The rooms were previously tired and grubby. Now they are beautiful. No more terrible old shower over the bath. Now beautiful walk in shower.

This hotel is in a great location near the centre of Port Macquarie, in close proximity to the river and associated waterfront walks and activities. Check-in was quick and efficient, with some helpful advice from the friendly staff member. I paid extra to use the underground Hotel car park. I'd suggest you do what I did and park outside first to get some directions to find and use the car park entrance. I booked the parking online and my number plate was recognized by the camera system to gain access through the boom gate. All very easy. My room was quite large, although to be honest, the furniture was a little dated. Nonetheless it was a very comfortable and functional room. The bed was very comfortable, with a large selection of pillows to choose from. The room was very quiet, which is one of my main "wants". It had no view to speak of (a side view) but that didn't bother me at all. The shower was over a bath, which is one of my pet dislikes, but all the other positives of this hotel made up for that slight negative. I'll stay here again for sure.

The good stuff: |- The location is great, close to the water and shops|- The staff was nice, they were friendly and helpful|- The pool was good, towels were provided but it wasn't heated|- Breakfast buffet was good, lots of options|- Auto entry car park was convenient, however it was on the exxy side||The bad stuff:|- This place down is that it is very outdated. Kind of expected more for the price you pay each night. The carpet in the hallway on L1 where we stayed was crumpled - in dire need of replacement.|- The room we were given 118, was all the way on the end which was large but had a view of the gross back buildings and dirty rooftops.|- The bathroom was also outdated, but clean.

The apartment was amazing. All the beds were super comfortable and the pillows were like sleeping on clouds. The motel is in a great location within walking distance of a lot different restaurants, beaches and walkways.|The staff were always friendly and accommodating with any request

Place was average customer service poor. Booked into a room got a room next to a large air-conditioning unit could hear it all night buzzing. Couldn't sit outside in the morning sun for breakfast next to the bistro. All tables were wet. They Locked the door to the outside balcony. Stopped us getting out. Maybe to lazy to pickup cups and plates from out on the Balcony. Charged us twice for breakfast. Ask for a flat white got a cappuccino instead. My pet hate when people can't make coffee.

One of the scariest moments of my life was witnessed in room 410 during our stay at the Rydges Port Macquarie, our 3 year old son opened the chest of drawers and the chest drawers and plasma TV fell onto our sons head, the TV cracked on our sons head. He is not seriously injured. The hotel staff handled this poorly and the general manager quotes that “the TV doesn’t need to be mounted on the wall, and the TV that is sitting on top of the chest of drawers with no anchor is compliant with safety standards” the hotel staff have no apologised, instead they charged us $1000 in damages and if I refused they were giving me 30 mins to vacate the hotel. We are very upset.

Looking for a restful retreat we booked 2 nights in a Deluxe King Balcony room, which based on the online photos and blurb, had spectacular, unobstructed river views. We were looking forward to it a great deal. The reality fell well short of that. The room we were initially put in (2nd flr) had a view which was mainly of the roof and a/c units of the building next door. And the room smelt very musty. Plus it was immediately above the pool, which was extremely noisy, with squealing children. We refused to stay in that room and were moved to a room on the 3rd floor, which had slightly better views, and with a promise that we would be moved to a room on the 4th floor (where the views were as advertised) the next day. That didn’t go smoothly, as the next morning there was a plumbing breakdown (toilet not flushing) in our 3rd floor room and we spent over 3hrs with no room at all, until the 4th flr room was finally ready. During the whole fiasco from check in onwards, staff were generally unhelpful or didn’t know what was going on. There was one exception to this, one staff member who took on board resolving our problems and who actually went herself and serviced our 4th flr room on the second day, so that we could finally move in, as housekeeping still hadn’t finished it at 3pm. The views from our final room were, as we expected, magnificent and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching life on the river unfold in front of us. Sadly, the a/c in that room wasn’t working, which made for difficult sleeping as the weather was hot and humid. In general the hotel is in poor condition, in desperate need of a refurb. The tap water in our third flr room was very unpleasant, tasting strongly earthy/dank. Definitely not the “deluxe” experience we expected and paid a premium price for.

Location location location. Do you like central air conditioning that has vents that haven’t been cleaned for a long time? Filthy windows inside and out that haven’t been cleaned in months? Zero service to the room? Want to spend $600-900 for a twin room? Broken lifts? Then this is the place for you! All jokes aside. There is some great accom in Port Macquarie for a fraction of the price. Personally I don’t care if a place is dated but keep it clean. The cheap pedestal fans in each room dead giveaway that a good amount of money is needed to be spent on the place.

Location is good. Showers are hot. Not advised hotel under renovations on booking or check in, so super noisy. Our Room was dated, screws holding the deck corners together, furniture dirty, fridge all rusted. Replacement bathroom towels full of stains. Cafe service and food good. But note - extremely difficult and time consuming to obtain your refunded check in holding bond of $100, even when cleared / pending for return. Be prepared not to have your money available for over a month at least.👎

I was from Port Macquarie and actually done the fit out of theses rooms nearly 25 years ago , recently came back to stay for a night , that’s how old theses rooms are , the whole place is totally run down , and was really disappointed. The last 2 people to give a 5 star review are clearly high .

I stayed here for a conference and thought it was great. The rooms we stayed in smelt musty and mouldy in spots. Other than that it was a good location and gorgeous views. The food was great and the service was great.

Industry function with reasonable finger food, good service and a bar tab. Requested a beer at the bar and after they opened it, found out it wasn't part of the beer tab although it was a mainstream beer.

Huge clean room, king size bed, good shower. The room had a view over the river area. Although the restaurant was closed there was a good bar and food area. Friendly, efficient staff who went out of their way to accommodate our requests. Close to the heart of town and the river walk. About to be refurbished, so bound to be even better.

Hotel location is amazing as is the pool area. Unfortunately I think the rooms need a massive update. We also had the issue that there was mould all over the roof of the room. We told the staff & requested to be moved but was told they would downgrade our room. They said they would get someone up to clean it with exit mould whilst we were at dinner. They literally cleaned a few spots but left the rest. They did end up offering free breakfast for 1 day of our stay but the breakfast is average. On check out, we advised them again about the mould & said it needs to be fully cleaned & she said she would waive our breakfast cost which has already been offered & just brushed past it like the mould was not an issue. We didn’t expect anything further for free. We just wanted them to clean it properly so nobody else had to stay in a room full of mould.

Great location on the water front however this hotel is very old and worn. Our room had dirty sheets & another guests beard clippings in the bathroom sink and floor. I asked for it to be cleaned up but still they missed the mess. Really disappointed. Looking at cancelling our return stay. The spa has seaweed floaty bits in it, was like sitting in a pot of dirty water, and had old algae/ water stains on the sides. This is a 3 star hotel at best.

First time staying at this Rydges Hotel. Paid extra to get the 'Hastings River' view which was good, but disappointed that the majority of the rooms facing the river had balconies, but not our room. Hotel is in a fantastic location, right on the waterfront, right in the town centre, and of course close to a large number of bars and restaurants. The Zebu hotel bar/restaurant was good as well. Used for dinner and drinks one night of our 2. For us, the biggest let-down was the King Room - it was a massive room (too big really) , with sparse furniture, quite dated and in need of a refresh. The Aircon unit struggled to cool the room and was noisy which is very noticeable during the night. Our biggest hotel gripe is having a shower above the bath. Definitely not recommended if you are on the older or in-firm side of life! There is street parking, but you have to move your vehicle very 2 hours from 08.30-18.00 weekdays, else $25/day for the hotel underground parking. We would have extended our stay had the room been nicer, but left and stayed elsewhere for 3 more nights.

Check-in staff were not rude, but totally disinterested, unwelcoming and unfriendly. We booked twin beds (2 beds). We got 2 beds but they were placed together and a double sheet used locking them together thereby meaning we only got one bed. The toilet seat was loose and moved making it dangerous. To have a shower you need to go into a large bath. Not at all accessible or suitable for elderly people. The bar fridge was stuffed full of hotel drinks meaning there was no room left for anything you wished to place in the fridge. Hairs found on the hinges in the bathroom behind the door. The rooms were oldish and worn - I can put up that but not with all the other issues that accompanied the premium price paid for the room. Much better value elsewhere. Will not be staying here again and very disappointed in the rydges brand.

Big hotel on the waterfront & close to shops & restaurants. Rooms are large but very outdated. Currently hotel is doing a major refurbishment of the guest rooms which is well overdue. I had one of the old style rooms which was clean but ugly. Comfortable bed and big TV. Wifi was fast. ||Breakfast was included in my room rate. There is a reasonable selection of hot and cold food.

Although a bit worn (refurbishment starting end of Feb) our room was clean and balcony views beautiful, the all the staff (reception, bar and buffet ) were extremely helpful and cheerful. Would definitely stay here again. Peter and Karen
