Worst meal I’ve ever eaten… I booked a table for 2, and when I asked the staff on arrival she said well I can ask if there’s a table reserved for you but you can just walk around and sit anywhere… we said oh ok I guess we will just go find a table and we did but this felt very unprofessional and like we were a bother for wanting our booked table. We ordered our meals by the QR code and wanted soft drink with our meals which you can’t order drinks on the app. So we had to order at the bar for our drinks after our meals on the app. I got the lamb rack and it was the worst thing I’ve ever eaten let alone for $40+ !!! The mash was dry, and the lamb had the foulest smell to it my partner even smelt it and gagged. I attempted to eat it because of what we paid but the smell was over powering and all of the lamb was cooked differently. My partner had a steak sandwich which was full of gristle and hard for him to eat. Best part of the meal was the broccolini and chips if that’s worth a $70 dinner. So disappointing for that price in a pub… never again sorry guys

We had our best Christmas lunch ever. We loved it. The Staff, the food, the atmosphere. We will definitely be there this Christmas. 🥰

Wanted a quick counter meal and drinks, got exactly that. Parmi was great and saucy, the chips weren't shoved under the parmi which is a huge bonus. Steak Sanga was fresh and quality. Good stuff.

Walked past this place so many time but never thought of dining here. Decided to give it a go and absolutely did not disappoint. Neither of us were very hungry so we decided to order a few small bite dishes to share. All of us were amazed at all 3 dishes we’ve ordered. Oh boy was the hot sauced chicken ribs spicy but full of flavour! The cheesy garlic bread was so tasty I wanted more. Steak Sanga had delicious sauce and flavours. We could not be happier with the 3 dishes we had ordered. Absolutely must try! Visit the famous Fremantle market and surrounds while you are down this way, plenty to do if it’s your first time in Perth!

Visited the sail and anchor for dinner last week and had a great experience, we sat right in front of the fans to stay cool! the young boy serving us at the bar needed help with some of our questions and meals and the manager Lauren walked him through everything throughly and made sure we had everything we needed for the remainder of the night. excellent staff and atmosphere with friendly smiles all around.

Visited for a decent beer after reviews bigging up the pub for being one of the few with cask ales available. Barkeep didn’t seem to know the difference between the hand pulled beer & the myriad craft beers on offer. Once educated they told me that one of the pull handles was ‘for decoration’ and the other had ginger beer! Left disappointed and went across the road to The National for a drink. Don’t believe the hype about this place & it’s beer - just another pub flogging carbonated fizzy craft options.

So impressed with the Sail & Anchor Freo. When the venue we'd booked let us down at the last minute, the Sail came to the rescue. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who accommodated our group with very little (less than 30 minutes!!) notice! The venue was perfect, the food was incredible and the service outstanding. The staff went the extra mile to ensure we were well looked after, even offering the bride a complimentary cocktail! Thanks so much and well done Sail, we'll be back!!!

My husband and I hosted our sons 21st in the Freemason room, May 2024, after we attended a friends 50th there a few months before and were impressed both times. 60 guests, The staff, especially bar manager Mitch, were very helpful, friendly and professional. All guests were SUPER IMPRESSED with the food, we ordered platters, sliders, arachini balls, keve' chicken balls, sausage rolls/pies and pizzas. Heaps of food... maybe a little too much but they gave us takeaways. With the balance of the balcony outside and inside with pool table, lounges and bar tables it suited everyone. We put on food and cake, with open bar for guest. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I ordered the salmon, which was $38 and extremely disappointing. Salmon was dry and completely overcooked but still the only thing I ate. There were boiled beans (no flavor) handful of plain rocket (no dressing) and potato's with no flavouring. The only way to add flavour was with the small pot of sauce which was extremely unpleasant. There was cut lemon which made it possible to eat the salmon. This was a really bad dish and should not be on the menu. Stick to the basics. You probably do them well. The venue was nice and had a great vibe. I would go there to drink but definitely not to eat. Yuck

honestly just giving this review because I have never been asked for ID at this place and the one time I do after my wife finishes a stressful day of work, 2 months after the passing of our daughter and just wanted a drink before heading home. We get denied service even though I had been getting served for two hours in the very same bar just as my wife arrived was when we were asked for it. Just ruined our day even more tbh. Also we are both well over 21 (my wife is older than me too) and if I had been getting served for two hours prior, I must look over 21

Had a lovely lunch yesterday at the Sail and Anchor Fremantle. Beautiful old pub with lots of atmosphere. Lunch was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed a very cool drink on a very hot day. Lovely young lady behind the bar called Lauren gave us some fantastic tips on sight seeing for us to enjoy our stay in Fremantle. So friendly and helpful what an absolute delight of a young lady. Will be back- For dinner tomorrow night

Great visit very happy. It was an early Tuesday evening so fairly quiet, service was quick and friendly. Food was delicious including calamari cooked to perfection. The nightly specials good value I'd recommend a visit

Grab your beers downstairs and head to the balcony. Look out over South Terrace. Great chips and Cheesy Garlic Bread. Relaxed time on a Sunday afternoon.

Good selection of beer and very spacious place. It has a balcony and bar upstairs as well as an outdoor area, bar and restautant downstairs. The atmosphere is good but the service not so much. They took too long to take our orders. The menu is varied. Most of the dishes come with chips but they aren't very good and the portion isn't very generous.

Fried gnocchi is fantastic. We stopped in around lunchtime and it was not busy. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is I hate the impersonal touch of ordering by QR code but I guess that's becoming the standard. Overall, the food and service was good. We had a couple of tap beers which were perfect for our fried gnocchi.

Fried gnocchi has gone down hill on the last two occasions. The menu says crispy gnocchi but is very soggy

First time doing a Christmas lunch and I would definitely do it again. Value for money with the special touches added through the lunch. No one went home hungry.

Fantastic venue. Took us in at the last minute after we were let down by our other venue. Gave us our own room with balcony and couldn’t do enough to ensure my sister had a great night for her hens. Great view of Freo, excellent service and delicious food. Very impressed. Thank you for saving our night! Bonnie the manager was amazing!

Booked the 1854 function room upstairs for a 21st last night. Everyone had a great time, with delicious plates of food and awesome bar service from the legend bartender Mitch. The whole night ran smoothly and we were well taken care of. Thanks again!

Another lovely old world pub in Freemantle. Plenty of different decadent rooms and a great balcony. Nice place to take in the Freemantle experience. Or for enjoying a pint whilst the women in our lives hit the Freemantle Markets.

A mate of mine used to go here pretty often by himself and talk to punters in the bar just randomly. Sail and Anchor is that kinda place and uncoincidentally my favourite pub in town. I think a lot of it is thanks to nostalgia, like when I think of the chilli beer that they used to have on tap and it was my favourite beer for a while. Years later, it's still good. The range of drinks is still expansive, the chicken parmy is still a winner and it's still a nice vantage point to people watch. I say a lot of places in Freo are definitively Freo, but I think the Sail and Anchor is the most definitive of what Freo is about. All the characters come out to play at all times of the day, and you'd like to be in the midst of it.

A disappointing visit on Mothers' Day. 2 of our group had Fish and Chips and if I am not mistaken, I am sure that they had been cooked twice. Unappetising, catfood-stinking, grey, chewy flesh encased in a sarcophagus of over-cooked brittle batter. Chose not to complain on the spot because of the occasion, but neither of us could finish our meal. Those who had something else seemed satisfied, but on the off-chance I get dragged back there by wild horses, I will definitely be avoiding the 'snapper'
