You wait for hours for an order even though there are no customers. I do not recommend it at all.

Wow! Tofu Poke Bowl w/scallions, crispy onion, tempura flakes, Wasabi, sesame seeds, furikake, cucumber, seaweed salad, edamame, enoki, avocado over rice topped with Poke sauce! Wow! Thank you for that! So fresh tasting and healthy!

Worst place to get bubble tea. Store is empty but i had to wait 15mins to get my bubble tea order. I had 1 sip and i had to throw it away because of the taste is really bad

Very clean restaurant and nice people, and if you haven't tried the Unagi Don you need to, definitely my go to dish.

This place just opened but it is D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! The sushi burrito was yummy. The fish was very fresh and so were the veggies. The dan dan noodles and boba tea were also great. Although I miss Thai Noodles, Scarlet Bowls is an amazing replacement. So happy we have good Asian fusion food so close to campus.

This place is Phenomenal. I can find good food anywhere as long as I look around so the thing I really look for as a certified foodie is service. The food is not the only thing that is serving. The ingredients are serving, the customer service is serving, and the owner herself (The Scarlet Empress) is serving. I got the sushi burrito and the sushi chips to go, and it was ready for me in a jiffy. I usually don’t write reviews for places but I knew I had too when I was taking my dog for a walk and the owner was standing outside Scarlet Bowls and took the time to play with my dog. On a brisk, gloomy day after hours of labor at work and class: the Scarlet Empress herself took the time to ask me how I enjoyed my food yesterday and consoled me during the darkest hours of New Brunswick. Just as we were in the midst of departing, she grabbed my shoulders with her warm, gentle hands and ushered me to go back home and get a jacket before I got a cold. Come on now. I teared up and walked back home to grab what a jacket because I knew the Scarlet Empress was right. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve been nearly naked during chaotic weekend nights and went on plenty of drunken food tours on Easton Ave.,however, never have I been advised out of genuine care to bundle up. In fact, I feel as if I’ve been encouraged to strip more but that’s a topic for another conversation… Scarlet Bowls is run by The Scarlet Empress herself and beware Rutgers University: she has started her reign. I have vowed to go back every week solely to be blessed by her presence again. Dear reader, you are ever so lucky to get a glance of her in the reflection of my attached picture. But do take it upon yourself to see her in person and support this electric new spot. It’s so fire.

this place is an underrated gem! Im from NYC but I visit New brunswick often and have been looking for a restaurant to regularly visit and this is the place. Their menu offers a large quantities of different asian foods, from sushi to ramen to curry etc... My personal favorite is the curry pork cutlet with rice ( i get it extra spicy for more flavor) and the coconut bubble tea with lychee jelly. In the city I love going to abiko curry for their japanese pork cutlet curry which runs me around 30$ :/ but the scarlet bowl japanese pork cutlet curry is only 15$ (half the freaking price) and identical in taste! The portion of the food is well worth the money as well! the service is amazing, workers are always so nice and welcoming and the restaurant itself is a nice place to work from. If you're in the area, definitely check this place out!

This is my favorite Asian restaurant for take out/dine-in around the area! The owners of the restaurant are so kind and always providing outstanding service which always makes me want to come back! I remember when Scarlet Bowls first opened and the owner took the time to have a conversation with me and talk about the menu and her personal recommendations. Really a hidden gem in the area with amazing owners and even better food! Hope to see this place get recognized more in the future and thrive in the New Brunswick area!!

The restaurant wasn't busy so I got my food quickly. I lived in Japan years ago but when I moved to New Jersey I discovered most "Japanese" restaurants weren't Japanese. The menu items weren't the same. I took a chance on Scarlet Bowls and I'm happy with the results. I ordered 2 dishes from their small plates menu. I ordered Takoyaki, fried balls of potatoes with octopus in the center covered in spicy mayo, it was delicious. This was food available from street vendors in Japan. It brought back memories. The Pork filled Steamed Bun was a new dish to me but I enjoyed it. For the main dish I ordered one of my favorite dishes and hoped it was as good as I remembered, Curry Chicken Rice. Yeah! It was good. It's a simple dish but it was one of the first orders I made in a restaurant in Japan. I will be returning to this restaurant, I highly recommend it.

Sushi was subpar to say the least. Both Tuna and Avacoado tasted like they were leftover from the day before. Vegetables ramen was extremely greasy and tasteless otherwise.

Scarlet Bowls is the best japanese food at Rutgers! Whether you’re in the mood for seafood or hibachi it’s always phenomenal. Not only does the food bring you comfort, but the husband and wife as the staff provide a home style atmosphere. I go here frequently and sometimes even get treated with a complimentary dessert, which always makes my day. Overall my favorite asian restaurant at Rutgers!

Really fantastic place! You can tell the owners care a lot about the food and the customers. They have a really great variety of foods and drinks too, with something for everyone. My friend eats Asian food pretty frequently and said this place is definitely a solid pick. Overall delicious food and amazing customer service.

I've been going here for a while! This is my go-to spot on Easton Ave. My service has never been below exceptional. The food is amazing. I dont really write reviews unless I'm pretty passionate about the place. Will definitely miss this place when I graduate.

I have only been here once but you guys… I wouldn’t say I recommend the salmon poke bowl bc the actual amount of protein was SO SO SMALL. I got a build your own poke bowl, which I think was around $12-13, and my friend got like the House Salmon Bowl (I’m not sure what it’s called), which was around $16, and we both got miserably small amounts of salmon. (Photos attached, the second photo my bowl is mixed up.) I actually liked the bowl quite a bit, but it’s just not worth it for me for this small amount of salmon.

I had their spring rolls and signature beef noodle soup tonight for dinner. The spring rolls were way lighter than I expected, not greasy at all, and packed with flavour. The Signature Beef Noodle Soup was incredible. I ordered mine extra spicy and it completely delivered on that point. For me, the heat level was perfect, and although numbingly spicy, lovely, complex flavours also came through loud and clear. Through all of that complexity, I could still taste a wonderfully clean beef broth. The meat was cooked just right, stewed until tender and packed full of flavor. I am looking forward to exploring more of their menu.

Came here for lunch today because I was craving sushi and it was the closest place around. I expected to it be average but was blown away when they brought me the best side salad I’ve ever had with a sushi meal. The sushi was fantastic too and the lunch specials are fairly priced. This place is a hidden gem and I will be coming back next time I’m in the area.
