You might’ve used a canteen style of food in the 40's but now it needs to be presented better, definitely served better with a certain attitude unlike the attitude experienced by your female waitresses. The bistro should be better policed. A group of 12 people decided to order their food from the bar cafe' and later stormed in the bistro area arranged their table to suit them with no regard or respect to others dining in the bistro that have properly booked for a table. The booth should be for 4 people and not 2 people. Don't forget that the RSL is not your everyday pub it should be respected and honoured by the members, non members and definitely the kitchen staff.

We travelled 8 hours from South Australia to Shepparton. We had a few drinks and dinner at the Shepparton RSL. OMG, the food was amazing and such huge servings. The staff were lovely, and a huge shout out to Gina she's awesome.

We had a Beautiful send off for my Dear Uncle/Godfather here last week. What an interesting, inviting and well set up RSL. The bar staff were caring, kind and lovely to deal with. I guess it was my Uncle's second home, he loved the RSL. Our dinner was delicious however I was disappointed with how one of the waitresses treated my sister when she delivered her meal. The gentleman at the entrance was fantastic, very friendly and a lovely person to chat with. I purchased some beautiful jewellery from him in support of your RSL. When we went to leave my sisters and Mum decided they also wanted what I had. Out the back he went bringing out beautiful items for them to see and ultimately buy. Thank you for looking after us and sharing your memories of our beautiful Uncle and my Dear Godfather TANK. He would be so proud of everything everyone did for him and for being there. He didn't like to be the centre of attention but the photo with his mates certainly shows he was that day. We love him and will truly miss him. Thank you again. 🦋🍓🌹

We ate at the Shepparton RSL 12 months ago and the food was fantastic, but this time it was mediocre - at best.
We ordered dim sims and satay chicken sticks for entrees and they were both poor. The dim sims were bready and basically inedible - they got left. The satay chicken sticks were tough and the satay sauce gluggy and gelatinous.
Our mains were traditional schnitzel, which had been beaten down to about 2cm thick; it was basically all crumb and felt apart when cut, and the other Mediterranean Chicken, which was overall very poor. The Sun dried tomato sauce was salty beyond belief and got quickly scraped off and pushed aside.
The chicken was tough, the veggies greasy and the rice cold and dry.
It was not overly business being a Friday night, but we all walked away regretting our choices. Other menu choices maybe better but we won't be back.

Wait time: 35 minutes
1. Porterhouse with veges:
Ordered medium, but the steak was served medium well, dry, refered to photo, lots of fat part. Pepper sauce is not great, weird color n sweet. Beans were frozen food. The rest is not bad.
2. Roast pork with veges:
Meat is dry, with gravy but the taste is weak. Crackles were very dry.
3. Chicken Parma with chips:
Parma itself is good but the chips were bad.
Customer service is not bad.

Very nice food and bistro. Has some amazing war memorabilia to look at aswell.

Very disappointed in todays visit to the RSL. Have been many times before bur this time the meal was very poor. We both had steaks which were overcooked and the vegetable soggy soft and a funny taste. I can handle that some times the food will have a bit of a miss. When the staff member came to collect the dishes and food that was not consumed she asked us how was it. After telling her she told us we should gave complained earlier then walked off.

Twice we have had a meal and it was the most tasteless meals ever eaten.
Tried the fish and tasted like nothing, it could not even tell what sort of fish it was.
Chicken snitzel, deep fried, tastless even the gravy was tasteless.
Roast pork, no flavour and came covered in tasteless gravy , the so called piece of crackle was the stuff you get in a chip packet, not even real crackle.
Never ever ever again. Do not recommend to eat here at all.

Their version of the American Legion or VFW, but they have pokies (slot machines) in their establishments. It was a pretty cool place. We stopped in for a beer to check it out.

One of the best RSL venues we have visited. Meals are both Australian and Chinese. Had a taste from both,
excellent. Senior meals are large, affordable and varied. Great value for money. Although very busy, staff were very friendly,helpful and prompt. Weekends its probably better to book as it is such a busy venue. Dined 4 times, meals were quick , tasty and delicious. Kid friendly too!

Nice people, nice food. I stayed at a motel nearby and to visit the club after a day sightseeing was a welcoming, cool change. I loved it!

My first RSL experience in Australia after being here for 12 years and the bar has certainly been set high! Super friendly staff and an awesome menu! A great display of war memorabilia and you can clearly see that it has been set up with a great deal of care and attention to detail.

Meal was not fabulous, Tbones I’d say we’re defrosted in microwave before putting on grill. Tough as a rubber boot 🥾

Large menu which also includes a full Chinese food menu. The food we ate was fresh, tasty and all serves were a large size. Could not believe how cheap it was! Only $55 including drinks for the 3 of us. Would recommend. Book ahead. It was quite busy.

In Shepparton over new years, and took my family for dinner. Despite it being very busy, which was to be expected, the service was friendly and professional.
I ordered what turned out to be the best chicken parmigiana I can remember having. No complaints whatsoever with anything.
Food and drinks are well priced, and as I've found to be the case in every RSL, the staff seem legitimately interested and friendly. Always feels a bit more personal.
Will definitely be back when I'm in town again.

I had garlic prawns and it was so yummy (if you love garlic, you will like it) and my husband had sweet and sour pork, he said it was a bit chewie and it had less flavour. We had to wait for 35-40 minutes till the food came out, It was so long. The parking area was full so we had to park on the streets.

Had lemon chicken and fried rice.
Chicken was horrible and very over cooked the saice was very bitter the rice was the only thing decent.

Great find. If you are looking for a nice venue that has great good size meals, excellent prices that are alot cheaper than pubs these days, and alot of choices on the menu, and good drink prices, then make this a MUST while in Shepparton. Service was great, and can thoroughly recommend it. Well done RSL!

Good experience eating here, decent selection of beers, but a surprisingly large menu with many Asian options which the locals seem to be eating. Plenty of options inside as far as where to sit and I really loved the war memorabilia and photos. Service was good and I quite enjoyed my steak, though was a little gristly....but the price was good so can't complain too much, I'd go back but would try a different meal choice

Friendly and helpful staff members.
Bistro has an extensive menu, with a special offer for Seniors.
They also have an extensive gluten free menu.
Bistro highly recommended and is open 7 days for lunch and dinner.
As a bonus there is a great display of military equipment and a comprehensive library of books and documents.

Food very nice and enjoyable. Great prices, good variety on menu, and friendly staff. We both had the roast pork for $13.50, very nice, meat and vegies were well cooked too.

Food here has greatly improved, and it is definitely a place to visit at lunchtime.

Excellent dinner as always. Every time we come through Shepparton we try to stop in at the RSL for a meal, and we are never disappointed. Huge servings, well cooked, full of taste, quick service. Tonight had prawn skewers, garlic prawn and a flat head tails. All perfect.

Enjoyed a quick, appealing, fair-priced, tasty and generous meal, followed by the thoroughly entertaining and reasonably priced Bon Jovi/Foreigner tribute show, which had many of the crowd up and dancing and having fun. The performers gave it everything they had and appeared to enjoy delivering it as much as the crowd enjoyed hearing it. They were terrific performers, especially the lead singer who engaged with the crowd and continued despite a minor facial injury sustained when putting on his guitar. They belted out all the great hits plus a few lesser known ones, ensuring a great evening. Thanks to Annabel for organising such a high calibre show to perform locally at an affordable price which encourages people to attend and enjoy an outing plus a meal.

Big serving of food and always quick service getting food to the table .
Always come back here for a good meal or lunch .
