We visited TheSlug & Lettuce on Tuesday 30 April for lunch
The Roast for the day was excellent Pork and the the Big English Breakfast was also a credit to the chef
Well done to all at the Slug

The smallest parmy I have ever seen! don't worry I ate it and didn't complain just took some pics and wrote a review, don't think the staff should have to deal with complaints they are not the ones buying ingredients, the one quarter of tomato definitely filled me up, would have stayed longer but, the dust under your Xmas decorations made me want to sneeze and I was sooo full of snitty I mean a quarter of tomato I had to leave quickly

The meal was delicious and great serving size for a great price. We had to wait a little for our meal but there was a large group who ordered before us. Would come back again.

The English Pub experience and item-filled decor is exceptional. Great staff. We loved our meals served in the dining room. The free cappuccino while using the pokie machines was of barista quality.

My wife is British and is always keen for a Sunday roast in winter. We’ve been looking for a good one for a long time…and we finally found it!
Slug and lettuce has an awesome vibe, very British feel as expected. Only thing missing was a log fire and snow!! Haha.
Anyway, Sunday roast was such a $$ bargain. Good sized plate of food, meat and veggies and Yorkshire pud!!
Amazing, so yummy and delicious. Will definitely be coming again.

My Wife and I found the Staff(Kingsley & Beck) super helpful in finding us bus timetables, as we are strangers to the area. Then we had a meal.My wife the Irish Pie & myself The Ploughmans Lunch. I have had this meal around the world but this was easily the best I have ever. Beautifully presented, large serve and so very tasty.So much so there was no room for a Knickerbocker Glory.We will return.Thank You

My family & I have been eating at the Slug since it first opened & have always been delighted with the service, until today!
We were a group of 10. All meals came out, but my calamari didn't. It finally came out after most of us had finished eating & I got someone to check.
I said to the young man who brought my meal that I was very disappointed that I had been forgotten about. I wasn't rude or loud. He was very condescending & said " it wasn't forgotten about, it was a mistake & not made. Let me be clear this was not a personal attack on you just a mistake" all of this was said with a very demeaning tone in his voice. No smile no apology. Just virtually telling me, you've got your meal so just shut up! At least that's how my family & I took it.
This young man spoiled our family celebration today.
Beyond disappointed ☹️
Thank you for your response. We will definitely be back, been eating there too long to stop over this one incident. We were just disappointed over the young man's attitude. 😃

Most regulars know that the Slug has tended to be up & down over the years.
At the moment, it is definitely "up!"
They have great meal deals on most days & nights of the week, & the food is always delicious & the service great.
Speaking of service, every member of staff in every area treats us as friends (we regularly dine Wednesday nights, taking advantage of their 25% locals discount) and are always warmly welcomed in the dining room and bar.
It seems unfair to single out an individual staff member, but a special shout out to Bec, our regular waitress.
She has formed a great friendship with our small group, and our 3 year old grandson absolutely loves her (& I know the feeling is mutual) & always looks forward to seeing her.
As a former hospitality manager, I recognise many wonderful traits that makes her a valuable team member of the Slug.

I've been here a number of times with my partner and friends. The food is always tasty and despite being busy they are reasonably efficient with service. I definitely have enjoyed my experiences here. And plan to keep coming for as long as the quality of food stays the same.

It was a 45-minute wait for us to be served. Mine was beef roast that and it was tasteless. It felt like just chewing on something and I couldn't even tell.what it was! It was pretty obvious it's leftover and the veggies were either cooked or overcooked.
Customer service wise - it was poor and disappointing. I went to the counter and both lads there who could clearly see me will not talk to me, no response whatsoever when I asked if I could order. I had to stand there for several minutes before a lady took my order.
They must have realised I was really unhappy with their service as it was absolutely appaling that they waivedy dessert! I am happy to support local community businesses but this was appaling service therefore I don't recommend and I am not going back.

I have just spent Christmas lunch in 2023 at Slug & Lettuce and the food was amazing. Great service from all staff . Donna was fantastic she was very welcoming & friendly. The Best cocktails I've ever had. Thanks so much. We'll be back again. Cheers to you all. Well done 👏

I had the Cottage pie & it was INCREDIBLE. The size of the bowl it came in was huge & I couldn’t finish it. But it was delicious. The sundae was awesome too. The staff are so so friendly (the blonde lady at the bar was my fav) they’re very welcoming and super smiley. Will be back.

I come along regularly with an elderly friend who is a regular here. In the gaming room he is always acknowledged, and his favourite drink is made ready and bought to him when he arrives. The staff often take time to come over and chat with him, are always warm and genuinely friendly. This is of course good professionalism and ensures return business for the pub but it also is a nice place for my friend to visit, and I know he appreciates the attention he gets there.

Great value for money. Big meals and they taste fantastic. Second time visiting recently. First time I got the roast and it was enough for 2 meals! Second time was the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing meal and drink. Will come back.

Great price for buy one get one at same price. Nice food great family atmosphere. Friendly staff. I'm sorry to say I went to the slug and lettuce last weekend with a table of 12 and the food took over a hour and half and the staff were not friendly besides the dear who was dishing out the roast. The schnitzels were black the chips soggy the fish smaller and greasy. I felt quite ill after eating there and couldn't even eat any of my friends birthday cake. The roast was the only nice part of the meal. There wasn't enough cutlery on the table, bread baskets weren't put out or water bottles and Yous weren't even busy. I don't think our group will be attending there again we chose you over another venue thinking you'd be faster at service but you weren't.👎The staff that were on that day were rude and even overcharged for food that was uneatable. Went here tonight at 6 table of 12 given yesterdays bread rolls. The chip were revolting. Only thing nice was the battered fish. Have you changed owners? Have you changed the cook? Service awful plates and cutlery left on table for 3 hours. Didn't even have a proper knife to cut birthday 🎂 was given a bread knife to use. Wasn't enough forks for the cake. Going down hill 👎👎👎👎
Felt nauseated after eating. Wish Gordon Ramsay went there. A friend said the roast beef was the grossest he's ever had and not enough put on plate your excuse he ordered a small plate for $22 you gotta be kidding you can make a whole roast dinner at that price. Not much on the menu. Not a happy customer at all.

Good place to gather and have a chill dinner with mates. The food was good. The schnitzel was amazing, but the roast of the day was a bit bland and dry. The fries were very crunchy and definitely taste good. Lots of parking available in front of the restaurant

First time here and upon arrival was explained about the fresh cooked roast with veg and Yorkie, can't wait! Meat wasn't fresh cooked, the beef had been reheated in a microwave.. yuck and the veg was at least fresh just not cooked! It was like it had just been dipped in hot water and nothing more. The Yorkie was the only saving grace.

Fantastic meal - The pork sausages where wonderful good prices also.. I have only marked this down to four stars as the meal took 45 mins to come out - and the hotel wasn't very busy.. otherwise service was good.

Edit - have revisited, and still a great choice - beef mignon special was very good, with nice sauce and calamari & prawns. Busy atmosphere, but very quick service & meals, which was good given it was busy. Lots of families which is a nice atmosphere. If you like trying different pubs for meals in SA, then you may as well add this as a must try throughout the year, at least once. If you're a local, then either visit the bar or bottle shop, or at least eat here every 3 months to try the menu.
Old review:
A friend and I visited. For starters, it's the best garlic bread in the State. The steak special was amazing. Scotch fillet with surf n turf and a creamy sauce. Its a cosy but roomy environment and the staff is quick.

Cold Thursday night, only 2 other groups eating. Food came out fast, service was good.
Loved their cheesy bacon garlic bread. The mustard relish made it extra tasty. Chicken parmigiana was thick and juicy. Chips were super crispy. Other foods were okay.
Reasonable priced, lovely decor. Great if more choices can be added on the menu.

Came here for the first time with my family last Wednesday night and found out about the locals special- we were stoked. Meal was generous and filling. We’ve come back again tonight with our in laws to share a meal and are looking forward to it.
Kitschy and affordable. Love our new local!

A very well presented and friendly atmosphere themed British style pub.
The food was delicious, well presented, with good size portions. The menu presents typical pub options, with choices for those with dietary needs. The prices are reasonable and comparable to other pubs.
The service was good, even when it was busy on a Sunday Lunch time. The staff were friendly and polite.
There is plenty of parking.

11 of us for lunch today and all the meals were hot and enjoyable. My chicken schnitzel was cooked perfectly. Service was good 👍 prices great 👍
I belong to a lambs fry club so next time we might come here, was told the fry was delicious and a great serving.
