Worst Sunday roast i have ever had, fatty rammy meat, frozen Yorkshire puddings, dry potatoes, mushy veg. A chef the does not care obviously!
One of my visiting family brought it back up straight away.
Very run down looking and dark.

We were excited to attend to take the kids somewhere new locally but were let down. Firstly the kids drinks were served with no syrup in it so we had to take it back, then one of the kids meals missed by the server and was delayed quite a bit due to this, then the adults mains were served 15-20 minutes after the kids so they were almost finished by the time we started. My red wine was dripped down the side of the glass when serving, this then dripped down onto my shirt as I went to take my first sip. The pepper gravy tasted like someone poured a whole jar of pepper into it and was inedible and the playground was ripped and unsanitary. It’s a shame as this could have been a lovely night out for the family but due to the multiple instances it was not relaxing and instead stressful.

We went for the Wednesday International buffet dinner and were very happy with everything.
Plenty of parking, a large dining area so not crowded and the buffet open from 5.30 pm so happy hour drinks still available at half price.
There was a wide choice of foods including honey chicken, mussels, schnitzels, pork sliders, Asian beef stir fry, noodles, butter chicken, nuggets, salads etc.
The dessert mousse was delicious as were all the fresh fruits.
The buffet dishes were replaced quickly and staff cleared used plates regularly from the tables.
All in all an amazing experience for just $27.00.

We had my father in laws birthday there today everyone was friendly and the food was good.
I ordered the fish no option for 1 or 2 pieces $25 for 2.
I couldn’t eat both so asked the lady which wasn’t soo friendly if I could have a take home container, she replied no we don’t do that as customers take extra salad bar home.
I explained I couldn’t eat both piece of fish so she offered me alfoil she never returned. The plates were taken and my fish was wasted. As we were finishing our drinking we noticed other tables getting containers given to them for their food. I went up to the manger and explained what I was told, she said sorry we don’t normally but we did on this occasion 2 different tables.
She said sorry and would get me a container for my fish that had all ready been taken away.
Fair and consistent if it’s no to one customer then no to all…
Specially when we’re still sitting there.

We enjoyed the food and service from the very friendly and helpful staff. We felt welcomed as soon as we entered.
Our starters of wedges and cheesy garlic bread were the best We have had for sometime.
The mains came out after they were finished, unlike some places which bring the mains out while your still having the starters, which I realy frown upon.
• Crispy skin pork belly + plain grvy on side
• Grilled chicken breast
• Fish & chips
All meals were Delicious 😋

Wednesday buffet was excellent for me. Can taste very fresh food and customer service was excellent. Not many dishes but enough for my pleasure. Highly recommend booking so that they can secure your table under your booking name.

Upon arrival, family waited to be seated as per sign. Numerous staff looked at us but offered no service. Six different meals were ordered. All but one was terrible. No flavour, instant mash was used, chicken undercooked. Dining area were cramped, couldn't walk freely to bathroom without asking people to move. Will not be back.

The food was delicious. We ordered off the lunch menu and the portions were large and tasty. Staff were so friendly. Will definitely visit again.

The food is second to none , friendly staff , great atmosphere . Highly reccomended for a dinner and night out.

- The food is a bit better than average.
- FOH Staff do as well as they can.
- We waited 45 minutes for entrees to come - and then a further 15 minutes for mains. Though the "family" area was busy, the remainder of the restaurant was quiet.
- garlic prawns are claggy
- beef fillet was lovely, ran out of sweet potatoes chips, we weren't advised. Replaced with mash without discussion.
- the best thing about this venue is the kids playground.
- disappointing to still not have the salad and veg bar.
- we will return, but not for the food.

The best part was. I had a spaghetti meal the next day.
1)steak was chewy
2)vegetable looked fantastic though called
3)pasta warm and the best on the plate with instant mushroom gravy.
Go a meal over $30.00dollars very disappointing.
Comment the chef had a day off, not an excuse for poor cooked food. 😎

Tasty and large value meals. Great kids play space and friendly service. This pub would be my go to in Gawler especially if you have young kids. Also kids meals are very generous.

New place for me, but well worth the travel as its a great little pub in middle of Gawler. Lovely meal great atmosphere and friendly staff I visit again. All dishes were loved by our group.

I've been eating at the Southern for over 20 years and have never had a problem. Last night our family dinner was spoiled by one particular staff member. I've never had the misfortune of dealing with such a disrespectful & rude staff member in my life. The food was ok and usually is, but we won't be going back there again on principal.

I have been there for my 21st and 22nd birthdays in 2011 and 2012. It used to be a favourite Gawler pub however I enjoyed a glass of lemon, lime and Bitters also it is Ruby tinged instead of orange also brilliant roast beef

I can't believe as a family that we haven't been here before😭😭.. What beautiful food was served to us last night..🥰 It was so yummy and HOT..👍
The staff were so polite and amazing it was such a great family get together.
❤ WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK.. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Had a very rude waitress serve us refusing to allow me to order a bowl of chips!! It wasn’t on the menu! But they serve chips with everything on the menu! When I asked her to ask someone if it could be done and was told it could, she seemed annoyed and argued with that person who said it’s fine!! The limited menu because of the carvery was very disappointing. We won’t be back!

Had a absolutely delicious Mothers day lunch. Price was $38 per person and included a shared entree plate, main meal(several options to choose from), salad/veg and dessert bar. Great food as always.

Great experience. We went on Schnitzel Wednesday where they had schnitzels for $14 before toppings. The schnitzel was big and was served with a good selection of mash and vegetables. The service was very friendly and quick. It was reasonably quiet being a Wednesday night with plenty of tables available. Toilets are good and clean. There is a big gaming area but you can't hear it in the dining room area. Nice decor in the hotel as well and a good size car park outside.

Food was inedible we sent 3 meals back (curry was made from fatty bits of chicken) lemon lime and bitters was un drinkable even after taking 2 back and getting them re made. Also had to remind them 3 times about a kids meal that eventually came out after all the adults had finished. Was a pretty poor experience for our whole family. Won’t be coming back or recommending

Food was absolutely disgusting, overcooked and cold! No dessert bar or soup anymore but prices still the same. Staff very slack and clearly need a course in customer relations. We spent over $200, a total waste of money. Won't be getting anymore of our money!

First time my family have been here in 5 years, reason being is food was just ok and it appeared most went for the salad bar etc.
We came tonight with some friends who visit here every 2 to 4 weeks.
We arrived at the start of dinner service to find the floors filthy smeared with chocolate cake and icing, chips and food crumbs.
Also crumbs of cake and food on the table.
When ordering, I was told there was no Apple juice for our daughter, however upon sitting down there were many on the other side of the bar.
Some of the staff were amazing, others stuck up.
5 pieces of bread and butter for 6 people, we had to ask twice for another piece.
2 or so mistakes with our food.
Yep, as suspected food still average and big wait (considering we were the first to order).
When my friend asked for something he often gets for dessert he was told by the lady oh, I don't think we do them, as she pretended to look around, he said you did a few weeks ago when we last came, she said no we havnt done them for years.
Shelves, cupboards and fridges all spare and bare looking, the place clearly hasn't had a good clean in months or years even, kids playground smelled dirty,
Disused salad bar still in place to show you what you can't get any more, as is the formerly self serve iced cream machine which is no longer self serve.
All in all, pretty average experience and a lot of laziness evident.
unfortunate, so much wasted potential.

Don't recommend waited an hour for our food for them to forget one of the Kids meals. Adult meals also not very nice snitzels over cooked and dry, sauces thick and lumpy, gross no flavour. Staff were rude and up them selves and no apology for forgetting a meal. Won't be going back.

Disappointing. Celebrated our daughters birthday with our extended family. Meals came out completely out of sync staggered no one ate at the same time. The last guests meal came out an hour after the first meal was served. Asked numerous times about meals. Wrong meals sent out, then they argued we had it wrong. It really was a disaster especially considering the price. We won't be returning.

A favourite for us for many years now. Food always good, a meal you can rely on for fresh and tasty.
The atmosphere is family friendly and the waitresses are always good.
In the hustle and bustle of Christmas we particularly appreciated Linseys calm and friendly manner as she sorted out a mix up with the order.

Absolutely brilliant experience! Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and top-notch food. The Wednesday night buffet was a real treat, with a wide range of delicious dishes to suit all tastes. Highly recommended for a fantastic dining experience!

$30:50 for this rubbish and to top it it off they needed to be prompted with two other kids meals that were missing. don't waste your money plus the atmosphere is terrible.
