What a great location. close to Stadium. revamped rooms have everything you need for an o/nyt stay. our 'private function' room was great for a 60th with 50 guests. food, drinks and service well-done under difficult circumstances not of their making. a big 'thankyou' shout out to James and Jody. the booking deposit is taken off the bill. there is no room hire charge. makes a difference. a quiet nyt sleep after our midnyt finish was welcome. would stay again. 😊

We stayed in esuite room 10. Small but clean, a little noisy with a function on downstairs, and a few loud people in the hallway to the bathroom, but not enough to disturb us. Rooms could really do with a small fridge. Take a blow dryer with you. Basic toiletries. All in all good value. Serves our purpose, which is close to family. We'll be back.

Went for a birthday function. Both function rooms were in use and our group had the smaller room. People from the other function continually walked through our function to get to their own despite having their own entry point. Our room is an ‘outdoor room’ however the roof was out of order so it could not be opened up to allow for any air flow. It was incredibly hot and closed off. The staff did not offer to open anything up to help despite complaints. Food was ok.

We got a room that we requested. The room is very spacious. Clean and neatly organized. The staff were friendly. The Manager or person in charge acknowledged my booking and he confirmed that he had a twin bed for myself and son. He was very professional. The food was very delicious and the enviroment was awesome. Loved it very much. I would recommend this place. What we paid was worth it. Thank you Sunnyside Tavern for making my stay very memorable. Very disappointed with the family room. There were 4 of us in this one large room, which was fine except for one of the single beds squeaked every time the person rolled over , holes in the walls , the curtain was broken so there were pegs to keep it closed so the sun didn't hit you in the face in the morning, and lastly there were only 2 tea cups and no tea spoons, did not realize this till the early morning , so no one around .

Very basic room with ensuite, which suited our 2 night stay. |Rooms are right above the Tavern which had great meals, everything we ate was delicious and came out fast. A bit difficult lugging all of our luggage and a toddler up and down the stairs, but we managed.|The shared kitchen had a kettle, fridge and toaster etc but no plates, bowls, dish soap, tea towel and very limited cutlery. ||Not close to any supermarkets if you don't have a car. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Easy check in via the Tavern and the staff simply pressed a button to call us a taxi.||Very close 4 min walk to Smiths Park Playground - which was great for our toddler!|No laundry facilities and we accidently took the cover off the duvet and found that it was VERY stained which was quite gross.||Overall an adequate stay for the price and location.

Tried to get a nice dinner before work I asked 2ce for NO SHALLOTS on my pasta. But it was all over my food. Meal was half the size as it was 2 days ago. Rude unhelpful staff. Never again. 21 down the drain

Such a great pub. The drinks are reasonably priced and the food is so good here. I have never had a bad meal. Smoking seating out the front of the pub on the street is nice. The staff here are always friendly and the food comes out quickly. Multiple bathrooms so there is no wait. Plenty of street parking and a carpark to the side. A good hidden treasure that is never too busy.

Room was small and cosy, double bed, bathroom well presented and also compact, I haven’t stayed in pub type accommodation before, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The meals were very high standard and great prices and service. Being a pub, it was noisy at times but we still had a great sleep

Pub part is fine but the kitchen gave me food poisoning. Which isn't a surprise as the horrendous and outdated state of the kitchen is clearly visible from the service area.

Our family room was light and spacious and the beds comfortable. Noise from the pub, street and neighbouring rooms carries into the room but wasn’t a bother. The food in the bistro was typical pub food that filled the spot. Only real down side - there is NO curtesy bus as advertised on booking.com. Thankfully the walk with the kids was relatively short.

Limited outdoor parking available. We booked the biggest family room that can cater for 4 people, modern, clean and plenty of windows around. Fridge, TV, can use more hangers for the open style wardrobe, coffee pods are nice addition. Recommendation for the accommodation : Window can be fully open, recommend fly screen and can help prevent those with suicide thought. Water pooled underneath the shower, maybe ceramic can be tilted for better drainage. We booked for 3 people, but was prepared 2 tea cups and 2 water glass. Shampoo and body shampoo dispenser provided. No tooth paste. Soap holder for the sink would be nice. There is outside shared kitchen with coffee pod machine and kettle. Any check out prior to 10am, leave the key outside the door, and go down using stairs (no lift). Pub below with good food.

Just a simple family suite. Shower was flooded as the water does not flow to the water outlet. There is no lift. You need to climb the stairs. No tissue or hanger provided. Reception staff was friendly. Amenities were close by by driving within 3 minutes.

I was very impressed with my room and the hotel in general. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable with fresh sheets, clean bathroom, air conditioner and fan. I slept really well. Being able to go downstairs and have a delicious dinner, and drinks, then go back to the room. Travelling solo, I felt very safe and the staff were helpful and friendly.

I stayed here for 2 nights in April 2024 and was very impressed with the accommodation. My room was clean, the bed was comfortable with fresh sheets, the bathroom was clean. The air conditioner was quite, plus a ceiling fan so I was very comfortable. The food in the bistro was delicious and service was prompt and friendly. I was a solo traveller and felt very safe at this hotel. The location is handy, 6 min drive to Newcastle, restaurants, cafes, galleriies and theatres.

Had to attend a course at Tafe and found this to be the closest. They have a selection of both ensuite and shared bathrooms. Rooms are clean and the linens are changed regularly every 3 days. The bathrooms are smallish and so are the rooms but for someone visiting for a short period I reckon this should suffice. The pub downstairs has a decent collection and chilled beer, the restaurant is decent too. The staff is great.... Cant complain

Great food, fabulous meals and great staff and service. The only thing that spoilt the experience was the terrible music piped outside. Terrible thrash metal, dreary country rock ballads and rock music played too loud. We were sitting behind the speaker too! We’ll try sitting inside next time I think. Still, I would highly recommend this venue for a great, fast service dining experience.

Great food and a quiet location. It would be good to have face washers and coat hangers next time. Cups and saucers in the room, but no jug. However, there’s a small kitchenette along the hall which we weren’t told about. 🙁|The staff were helpful and it’s a short walk to the Entertainment Centre which was our main reason for booking

Enjoyed our stay. Was clean, comfortable and convenient for the function we attended. The tv's volume was good for a change and the showers powered. The staff were more gooder than other places we've stayed and made you feel at home. I'd go again

Cute little pub with a friendly vibe. We had a great meal and the beers cold. The accomadation is clean and the beds are comfortable although the room was small with no kitchenette or fridge. Parking is limited but a great central location .

Close to entertainment centre and football stadium. Friendly staff. Great pub food and vibe. Reasonably priced. Clean. Quiet. Off street parking.||Not enough towels, no wash cloth, one peice of soap. Ensuite stunk of dampness.

Came in to have the 2-1 meal deal on a Monday. Absolute bang for buck. Steak was cooked to perfection and the pasta was to die for. Definitely recommend here for a good fee
