Wow wow wow. I’ve never had gnocchi that was so light and fluffy. Pumpkin and spinach gnocchi of pillowy goodness. So good we’re coming back tomorrow night!! đŸ˜‹đŸ˜‹đŸ˜‹ So sorry I didn’t take a photo, I was so keen to dive straight into eating it. đŸ¤£

We were passing through on our way back from Sydney to Melbourne. We were here on Steak night and Wow! The steaks melted in your mouth. The sourdough bread and honey butter were delicious. We had no expectations but we were blown away. Highly recommend!

We only ate at the restaurant but were very disappointed. We had 4 small dishes to serve. None had much flavour. Pea fritters that had no taste or even colour of peas. A very small salad that had olives in the menu but none on the plate. Ordered a bottle of red, they came back and said not available. The waiter tried to show me the list of wines in the menu but they were only listed by wine maker so he did not know their own wine list. Ordered another bottle and he came back with a different red and said the one we ordered had been replaced with that one.

Went there for drink and dinner had a great local beer Stanley honey and chestnut Pilsner delicious. The dinner was fantastic. My son had the Wild Venison T-Bone with horseradish butter and rocket. I had the Confit and Cured Pork Crumpet with raisin ketchup and the Buttermilk, garlic and green peas Fritters. The meal was superb and the waiter was great. Would go again when in Beechworth.

Visited a few times while in town and wasn’t disappointed. Great old building to spend some time. Food was excellent as were the staff. Sit outside and watch the world go by with a few coldies.

This wasn’t our first choice for dinner tonight but I’m glad it was our last. A cool classic country pub which knows what it has and knows I had the fish and chips, while I would have liked a bit more fish, what I did get was amazing. Batter was crisp but not too heavy the tartare sauce was a highlight. Both versions of the Parma (chicken and eggplant) looked solid and my taste of the chicken Parma told me it was a top level schnitzel too. The beer garden/ deck space is great and directly connects to bridge road brewery next door!

This was an okay place to stay for the night, but it was quite expensive for the room quality. The staff were very friendly when they were on staff, but their hours were very limited which made check-out a bit difficult and confusing. Everything is outdated, which adds to the vibes of the place, but made for the price to be a bit ridiculous given things in the room didn't work and their were limited bathrooms to be shared among many rooms. It's fine for a night if you are desperate for a place, but considering it is not that much of a budget option, I'd rather pay just a smidge more next time to stay somewhere that gets more for your money.

This place was amazing they really helped me when I need a place to stay.fom what I did see their bathroom, and showers were immaculate, for the guest, with fresh clean towels for me to shower if I chose.. will definitely stay here again if I'm in the area. Thankyou again.

This piece of history is great place to stay on a budget. Located in the main street of Beechworth it is walking distance to cafes, restaurants, shops and a supermarket. The single room I got was 'cosy' and had minimal amenities i.e sink.single bed, heater and a fan. It could use some TLC but it's serviceable as is. All rooms have shared facilities. The money you save on accommodation however can then be spent on a good feed at one of the restaurants in town. That said, the steak I had at the pub was perfection and had been cooked on a charcoal grill which added to the flavour. The staff are extremely friendly and appear to enjoy their job which can be seen by the high as the customer service levels. The pub itself has a pleasant old world feel with live music when I arrived.

This is country pub accommodation - with shared facilities. It was also only $95 a night for a couple. So if you keep expectations low you will be OK. |Basic room (with heater that worked), had to change from first room as it smelled of cigarette smoke. Shared bathrooms just renovated (and there are 4 - so never had an issue finding one). Everything very clean and nice. Pretty cold outside room (seemed corridor etc unheated). Staff friendly and welcoming. Squeaky door entering the guest area was a slight problem at night. Best part was the restaurant downstairs where we had a great dinner.|Would I stay again? On a cold autumn night we had a warm room and nice dinner downstairs. We ended up getting both room + great dinner for less than we were booked to pay for room alone in Wodonga - so I would stay again.

This is a lovely hotel in Beechworth to have an evening meal. We dined there last week. We were greeted by a lovely lady by the name of Ursula. She was very welcoming. The food was excellent. We both had eggplant parma with a beetroot and orange salad- it was delicious. Service was professional and there was a lovely atmosphere.|We would definitely dine here again.|

The people were supper friendly but it was one of if not the worse meal I’ve had. I ordered an entree of yabbies expecting at the cost of $38 that it would be some sort of plater and definitely enough for 2 people, instead it was 3 below average size yabbies in a bowl that where cut in half and fried. Brains guts or all the yuck was still in the yabbies as they were not cleaned. For a main my partner got a steak. This was a thin steak sandwich type steak on top of fries that resemble McDonald’s fries, no salad or veg on offer. They did not have a sauce to chose for the steak but placed some garlic butter on it that melted and made the fries soggy. I ordered a beetroot and orange salad and at the cost of a main meal it came out on a small bread plate, the salad was actually very delicious until I was half way through…. Then I had the worse experience of the night. I took a mouthful to be overcome buy a strong taste and smell of ammonia pee. (rat pee I suspect). I spat out my food but was unable to remove the taste from the back of my mouth. I pushed it away and left hungry and emotional. I’m sorry to make this review and it’s taken a few months to do so. I hope that the establishment can learn from my experience.

Staying pretty well next door we ventured in for a meal. The bistro area has a small stage and set up with an Asian feel. A couple of large sculptures guard the stage. The walls are lined with photos of Beechworth over the years so even if you weren't dining the history on the walls make this hotel well worth a visit. Our meals were great and the staff super friendly. If you happen to be in the area you should consider a visit. I doubt very much you would be disappointed.

Some interesting items on the menu to try, plus the regular 'classics' like fish & chips and parmy.

Really enjoyed the night here! Of course it was mainly of who I was with, but we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We shared the beef and lamb racks, plus about 5 sides, with bread beforehand. And the 4 of us are almost all of it. The meat was so tender and delicious and the sides complemented the meat perfectly. There is a great wine list to choose from, but they only had 2 desserts which was a little disappointing. I had the white chocolate moose with blood orange. I'm not a fan of citrus so I just picked it off. The moose was nice but very sweet. And had a few lumps of gelatin in it. The service was friendly and helpful, although they never came back after giving us the drink menu again during dinner. But, I could have also got up and asked. Overall, we loved it and will most likely go there again.

Rating for the dining, not the accommodation. I'd rate the food and service 4 stars, but giving 5 stars overall because they were one of the only places we could find open on Boxing Day when we arrived, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Although the place was flat out, we did manage to get one of the few unreserved tables, and had a really nice burger and a decent Parma. The shoestring fries went well with the burger, but would prefer something chunky with the Parma. Confusing/disappointing menu that says the Parma comes with salad, but apparently it's a $3 extra which we found out about only after enquiring about what we thought was the missing salad and having it brought over. Not a real problem in the end, but could be clearer to avoid disappointment

Mixed feelings about this place... - only had food once here out of the 4 nights we stayed and the fish and chips were good. - Staff overall very friendly - Great location - Accomodation, lacking. I understand it's only $95 a night which is great and we normally stay in the cheaper hotels but certain things really didn't even meet bare minimum I feel. 1 toilet not working, 3 left, 2 I struggled or couldn't get the door shut/locked. 1 bathroom over 4 days didn't have soap. Nothing to wipe hands with in any 3 bathrooms? Rooms are very very basic and squishy (queen room). Mattress uncomfortable but can't complain too much for price. Overall place felt quite dirty and run down (except bathrooms) and in need of a deep clean, or fixing. Key kept getting stuck in the door and cleaner (??) Opened door without knocking đŸ˜… Anyway, probably would just spend a bit more money next time to get something that touch nicer.

Had to order food and drink at 2 different spots, which was inconvenient. Our dishes then took about 45 minutes to arrive, with sides arriving another 15 minutes later when we were almost done eating. Quality of food was excellent however! Pumpkin gnocchi was delicious, as was the tomato and burrata salad.

Had a one night stay at this pub and really enjoyed it very much. The service was great, very friendly staff. The room was adequate, clean and the bathrooms were clean. There was a great little band there on the night and a fire going in each room, so the atmosphere was great and the warmth and good vibe there was awesome. I'd be very happy to stay there again.

Didn't stay at the pub but did go for dinner. Jad the venison schnitzel and a side of fries. The serving of schnitzel and slaw was more than enough food but the fries were the best I've had in a long time. Well cooked and perfect amount of salt. Needed to walk off a bit of the excess luggage but am definitely going to go back for more of the same again. Other people in the restaurant also needed to walk off the food!

Can only comment on the food. We went on a cold June Sunday night, and we arrived at around 530. The restaurant doesn't start serving till 6. We were told they were fully booked but The sweet young waitress arranged a table for 2 right near the raging open fire place. We grabbed some wine from the bar and patiently waited for 6 and were among the first to get our order in. Our food was on the table at 630, by this time the place was packed. Our food was delicious, venison schnitzel and bangers and mash with caramelised onion, both were absolutely delicious. Topped off with a creme brulee and apple crumble. All definitely a notch above your average pub fare. We were finished our meal by 730 but noticed some patrons still waiting for their meals. So try to get in early unless you're prepared to wait.

A nice old hotel which has that charm that comes from age. The accommodation is very basic as I expected and I had no issue with that hence my rating for various aspects of the hotel. However, having a local band start playing at 8pm and not finish until midnight on a weeknight was unexpected and unpleasant. I’m a fan of live music, and although I heard more enthusiasm than talent, it also sounded like they were playing in the room next door which was fine for the first couple of hours but as the band worked through their more polished material the singing and playing became strained and there was no chance of sleep. I’ll probably come back to the hotel again for a meal or a drink in the lovely bar out the front with an open fire, but I definitely won’t be staying there again.

Amazing food! We had the sourdough, chicken, Angus beef and pumpkin & both desserts! Ignore some of those comments below, there's a reason why the menu states to order a few dishes to share as the meat portions are big so get some veg sides! Will deff be recommending to anyone heading to beachworth!

Admittedly it’s a long weekend. We booked dinner. Took 30 mins to seat. Another 45 for dinner. Steak was tough not great. Limited GF options for celiacs. Otherwise drinks, fireplace and live (paid) music was great.
