Where in Aus can you find $16 steak and drink? This is the best place!

What an unexpected pleasure this turned out to be. I had to kill 5 hours at Sydney airport and was hungry. Decided to go to the Tennyson for what I hoped would be a good pub feed, and it didn't disappoint. Got a 250g Rump steak for $22, which was cooked to perfection at medium-rare and came with mash and veggies. This also included a free beer, and the fact they had my favorite Stone n Wood on tap, just made my night. This has to be the best value pub feed I've ever had. Thank you to the pleasant and attentive staff that looked after us that evening. I will be back!!!

We were quickly, politely greeted by staff. The food was excellent and prepared in a reasonable time frame.

Very relaxing atmosphere here. You can’t beat the $16 steak/schnitzel and house drink deal. I also liked the Thai dishes available

This place was amazing. Great value, the striploin I had was perfectly tender and wasn't chewy at all. The only critique was it was quiet loud given the number of patrons there so we found ourselves yelling at the table but otherwise, fantastic food and value.

This Merivale venue is a little old and seedy but the $19 rump/schnitzel with beer combo is pretty good value for money.
There's also a nice carpark out the back so you don't have to worry about street parking.
Service is great.

This has become our ‘go to’ whenever near the airport. Staff are a great, drink prices are on point, especially at happy hour.
The food soooo good and the daily specials are a bargain. Atmosphere is a great pub vibe. Staff are always out cleaning and making sure everything is nice and neat and clean. Kudos guys on running a great pub.

The current pop up restaurant at The Tennyson Hotel is Kingdom Of Rice. It’s Cambodian street food and some of the tastiest items on the menu are the skewers that you put in a roll and eat with pickled veg. The special fried rice is also a great dish and the noodle drops are definitely a win. The lilies have a strong lemon pepper flavour. A hero dish here is the calamari but ours was underdone and the chicken is a missed opportunity, it ‘s food but does not dazzle as expected. I still give five stars because these are minor faults and easily fixed by the pro team in the kitchen

Random lunch here, steak, salad etc..Loved it..
Following day again for dinner..highly recommended...going back for more

Perfect steak and greens s as bc delicious mash with a glass of Shiraz, I have tried all the options and being in the wine industry I am a bit fussy but the wines here are great. The food is consistent and the quality is what I have come to appreciate at all Merrivale locations and the staff are always accommodating and happy!!! We go at least once a week usually. 🍷

Not bad pub, friendly service, helpful staff and easy access. I feel the pub is targeting more towards gaming.

My favourite no frills pub.
Food is consistent. Steak is great.
Steak and complimentary drink.
Pepper sauce great.
Very good deal.
Staff is on top of things. Keeping things cleans etc.
Wings are amazing.
Always back here for a decent affordable feed.

Me and my partner always come to eat steak and enjoy dinner but today we really disappointed with the service especially with the lady waitress. If you guys do the new rules on you bar, please let us know before we ordering, not just telling us after we order everything.

Locals pub - tab, pokies, dining room. Food is delicious and well priced, service is friendly. Environment can be pretty smoky with cigarette smoke drifting in from outside area.

I really enjoyed our visit! Old-school pub vibe, friendly helpful staff, great selection of beers on tap and really cheap happy hour prices!! The food specials were the best I've seen in a long time and quality was spot on, service time was fast too! Plenty of space for us to play cards at our table, I would have given 5 stars if it didn't smell strongly of cigarette smoke inside. We live in W.A and it made our experience of the area a good one, I'll visit again if we are ever in the area 👌

I'd only recommend coming here for the cheap $10 250g rump steak, with choice of either mash or chips with salad. Can't really ask for much in terms of quality when it's that cheap and affordable.
Tried the more expensive $24 T-bone steak, however I cant really say it was 'worth it' in comparison to the value you get with the rump steak.
Staff was friendly and the place was fairly quiet when we went which was unexpectedly given it is a pub. But your experience will vary dependent on the time and date you visit.

Had Dinner here with my mum and her partner. We found seats immediately and ordered through the table QR code the drinks came in 5mkns and within 10-15mins the food arrived in good time.
I had the rump steak medium rare with mash and steamed veg, it was good but the steak was a bit chewy and the mash was slightly clumpy, the steamed veg was fine. I tried a bit of my mums rump which she also asked to be medium rare, it kinda tasted dry.
Eating in the bistro room was pleasant, although the smell of cigarettes was lingering in the air.
I suggest the chefs work on their steak game during peak hours and the front of house work on using some air freshener to freshen up the bistros smell.
Love the tenno but I'd have a better time here with some extra attention to detail from the staff, keep at it 🫶

Good location for traveling from the airport and the food is good quality and the menu has some variety. Good beer selections too.

Fantastic service by (blonde) woman at bar. She recommended and made a great margarita! And was really friendly and enthusiastic ❤️
Would love a place to sit that wasn’t in front of the huge TVs.

Came here with a group of friends and pretty much most of them ordered steak with chips. I went for chili basil chicken with steamed rice to give it a try.
It took them quite some time to prepare for my order. Even though I placed my order before my friends did, they got their food before me. I reckoned chili basil chicken was a simple dish and it shouldn’t have taken them that long.
I was hungry by the time my food was served and it was delicious. The portion was decent given the price. The minced chicken was flavorful yet a tad oily.
After we finished our meal we had banoffee pie. It was surprisingly good and the portion was huge as well. It was rich and creamy to my liking, not overly sweet for a dessert. I just couldn’t get enough of it.
Overall I enjoyed my dining experience here. Friendly servers and great atmosphere had greatly enhanced the experience.

Came here a few years ago thought I'd revisit because of a good experience last time. I wasn't disappointed really nice meal and service. Had the rump with perfectly cooked vegetables and mushroom sauce that's what I had last time, I highly recommend this pub, very busy, obviously because it's a good place. My meal a beer and glass of red cost $29 Bargain. I travelled from North Sydney to come here for dinner. Will definitely be back the next time in Sydney.

Been taking the family 2-3 times a week for years, but I won’t be back. The steak has always been a great option if you have a large family. It used to be $9.50 pre Covid, post Covid it has slowly creeped up to $25 including a drink. I was still happy to pay this cos we very rarely had a bad meal and the staff are great but last week we waited 45 mins for our food and when it arrived everything was stone cold except the chips. I told staff this and also that a side that I had ordered was missing and he returned with the dish, apologised, said he would speak to the manager then disappeared never to be seen again. Not great customer service to provide to anyone but especially a family that you know visit multiple times a week.

As Bob said "All pub food should be like this." Hearty, generous, delicious, great value and quick to arrive. The dining room was very comfortable and roomy too and on the day we went lots of sun was pouring through the windows. Staff were lovely and the restrooms clean.

Amazing food. 10 / 10. Seats cant be booked unless you go online and it is hard to get a seat. But definaltey worth it. There are not many seats so book if you can. Totally worth it. Good happy hour drink prices as well. Can order at bar or with QR. Highly recommended 👌

Affordable steak with a glass of beer for only $16.We definitely come here again even if we live in Stanmore.The only thing that I didn’t like much was the gravy but location wise and customer service were great.♥️I would say 4 and a half stars.♥️
