Went in for a quick meal. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Steak was cooked to perfection. Salad was fresh. Chips were good, apart from being overly salty, with a hint of spice, but that’s fine. I like a bit of seasoning on my chips.

Went here during the fringe festival and the atmosphere was superb, the bar staff were quick to serve even though they were super busy.
Really enjoyable couple of hours spent here watching the world go by.

Was such a nice pub/restaurant and had good music the whole time. The service was really good during meals and had nice art around the area too. Food didn’t take long to cook but tasted very very good.

Visiting Adelaide for 24hrs.
Dropped in here for a drink. Sat outside on the main street which was nice; wine, people watching and good weather. Bar staff were friendly. There is a pool table and we were there on quiz night. The guy running it pulled us in along with three others. We all formed a table, just strangers having fun it was a good night. Found the hotel had a friendly nice vibe.

Veggie options are awesome, the eggplant parmigiana is the best, but the mushroom burger w fries were a bit too spicy for me.

This place does not responsibly serve alcohol - my daughter was served until she was black out drunk - either that or her drink was spiked. The manager was annoyed that she had to help her… really very poor and irresponsible way to treat a patron and shoddy running of a hotel. Avoid this establishment.
Not only will I not remove the review, but we are reporting this to the liquor licensing board and SAPOL.

The staff at the Austral were super friendly and helpful, the steak cooked to perfection, the salad fresh, and the chips with just the right amount of seasoning—though a tad salty, with a hint of spice, which added a nice kick.

The security guard (Jake 04) on Feb 10th harassed me when I went to the toilet. I gave my hat to my girlfriend before she went to the toilet. Then I proceeded to the men’s bathroom. I came out after; and he grabbed me and said I was getting kicked out for no reason. I ask him politely why I was being escorted out, he gave me no reason.
Never coming back. Be better!

Stopped in for a glass of wine, asked the guy serving why there is a rainbow flag and why the staff wear rainbow badges. Turns out it was a short term promotion that worked and they have kept on. It's a gay friendly bar, not a gay bar.

Now, if you want Coopers on tap, give this place a go. We're knocking back an Aged Extra Stout, which I'd give 9/10. It certainly gives the English stouts a run for their money. A great atmosphere as well, means we'll be back tomorrow for Trivia 👍😁🍻

Mate who used to live here -well not AT the Austral, only most weekends and Thursday and Friday nights- she used to live and work in Adelaide... She said I have to come here for her sake and my own sake. She's a got chick, funny and sagacious, so here I am. Enjoying the wide range of Coopers in the heart of Adelaide. It's not chockers at the mo even tho its Friday 830pm 24.11.2023 but its good. Staff are good folk.

Looks like a dingy pub from the outside but its always packed which is a good sign. They have a good selection of beers on tap and the food is really good at quite a reasonable price. Had a piece of grilled barramundi which was better than some more upmarket pubs or even restaurants. Go figure🤔. The $21 burger and pint deal is good value too and they do a pretty awesome burger

🥳A typical pub with its additions such as Quiz Night, Steak Night and Exhibitions.
🥩As a Pub it has a variety of dishes such as Steaks, Fish & Chips and Schnitzel, vegan options as well, and also its wide range of beer and wines.
👌Don't limit yourself and have a great lunch or dinner accompanied by your friends or family.

I was staying at the Pullman hotel. I googled what pubs where close by I found the Austral, we had the barramundi it was nice however it was extremely salty. The music was extremely loud. There is a pool table.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Austral and I must say, it was an absolute delight! From the warm ambiance to the delectable food, everything about this place exceeded my expectations.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly their steak night. The succulent aroma of perfectly cooked steaks filled the air as soon as I walked in. The steak itself was cooked to perfection – juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The presentation was impeccable, and each bite was a heavenly experience. The attention to detail in crafting these dishes was truly remarkable.
But it wasn't just the food that impressed me; the overall atmosphere and service were exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Great pub, very friendly staff, very professional. I was told this place is like an ‘institution’ and a must visit if in Adelaide city. This place didn’t disappoint, that’s for sure. I hope I’m lucky enough to get a chance to visit again sometime soon.

Great place for drinks and atmosphere on the weekends! And they serve great shots called the cookie monster i suggest people try them!

Food was actually pretty good, service was good, but the place is outdated and really needs to be updated to keep customers coming back.

First pub in Australia to have Coopers on tap and with a dozen different Coopers beers it will keep your taste buds entertained . The 2021 vintage ale was superb

Don’t buy steak on steak night Tues ,you will get the steak but a teaspoon of mash and 8 peas basically you paying for the steak only better value elsewhere . Bretski staff managerhas no customer service bad attitude .temperature not warm enough ,meals are serve lukewarm.

Apart from the rude ginger security guard who made me and my friends feel uncomfortable, the staff here are really nice. Nice drinks all around and you should definitely try their cider!!!

Absolutely digusted at how me and my friend were treated here. My friend had been spiked (possibly by someone at the Austral) and staff made a very poor excuse to help me take care of them - leaving me alone with them in the bathrooms while they were blacked out on the floor. The bar staff were weirdly rude and continued to serve my friend drinks after I had told them not to due to them being unwell. They were then harrassed afterwards for being "irresponsible" and "slandering" the Austral's name because of a bad review! Do not go here, unless you're willing to give money to a immature creep who doesn't respect his staff.
