About The Cally
Simple dorms & private rooms in a casual hostel offering a bar/restaurant & pool tables. Surrounded by shops and eateries, this laid-back hostel is 2 km from Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village and 5 km from whale watching at Logans Beach. Warrnambool railway station is an 8-minute walk away. Straightforward single-sex dorms offer Wi-Fi, flat-screens and minifridges, plus lockers, bunk beds and shared bathrooms. Private rooms are also available. Bed linens are provided. There's a lively bar/restaurant with a fireplace, pool tables and regular live music. Parking is available.

Would not recommend unless there is no other place to stay at.
In general the place is fine for a one night stay but very much overpriced...
146Australien Dollar is very pricy for a room without even a chair, no kettle, and no ensuite bathroom. Beds are also not very comfy, mensbathroom is no good either.
As said the price value is horrific.

Will actually give 0 rating. Room is dirty, dusty and smelly. TV not working. Price of the rooms were different than what was booked "more expensive". Will not recommend this place to stay. Some staff were unfriendly.

Went for a 30th in the beer garden, can't believe the minimum booking number for that room is 50 people, we're were packed in that's for sure. People were eating their dinner off their laps sitting on a bench seat.
The meals were ok, steak sandwich 50/50. Mixed grill not big enough for a grown up and a 6 year old that had already eaten their meal, she ate half my steak and the bacon.
Very busy and happening place otherwise. People are friendly and the staff were great.

Well what a lot can change in a week Eaten there twice now First meals of pork was a huge potion Crumbs beautiful as were chips . Salad a let down just tasteless Pork nice but could have been a bit more tender Next visit had a Vietnamese soup (Pho) with pork belly Meal very expensive at 15 bucks Portion was half a bowl of lukewarm soup zNot impressed at all . My husband had crispy chicken with sweet chilli Again small meal Nice , but stomach was left empty Never again When I go out I expect to be my food to be adequate This place didn’t pass I am sorry

We had our wedding reception in the dinning room and beer garden. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience all the staff were so amazing and could not do enough for us from navigating how the room would be set up to all the small details that just ensured that our night was just perfect. A huge thank you . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wasn’t many places left to book as last minute but was pleasantly surprised. Room was a bit shabby but clean and comfortable. Cool vibe in this busy hotel and staff very friendly and helpful 😁. Got a meal delivered to room and it was delicious!! Great place if on a budget and not fussed about bells and whistles!

Tucked into a side street in Warrnambool it would be easily missed. We were attracted by "the best seafood platter" so decided to give ita go. It was served quickly and presented well. All seafood 🦞 was fresh with only some prawns and calamari rings fried. The barramundi portion was generous and grilled. Only ate there and did not use accommodation.

The staff and food here were nothing short of amazing.
We walked in ordered and the food. It was like home cooked. Beautiful soup and Arancini balls. Hubby had the Deluxe steak sandwich.
The staff were engaging and so friendly.
We wish you guys every success. My husband and I say thank you. See you again

The facility looked a bit antique yet neat, tidy and above all no bad odours. Room was plain, only towels and soap bars provided, no face washer; beds were half prepared; one chair, no table. The WORST of all, the fridge was so stinky with a rotted quinoa salad box inside. Took a bit of time and half a wipe pouch to make it ready for my kids' milk and food. All rooms are up stair with no help with bringing up suitcases. Loud noise till late from the ground floor pub. Not recommended for families with young children.

The Chicken Kiev could be great. It holds together well, but why oh why is it absolutely drowned in Hollandaise sauce? It was awful. When I questioned it, I was told that’s how they serve it and those in the know ask for the sauce on the side. I explained as someone from out of town, I wouldn’t know this and perhaps this should be explained when ordering this dish! Seemed to be little interest from the waitress to remedy the situation after I handed her the mess on the plate back. It’s was a bit “oh well, you’ll know for next time”. There won’t be a next time. Very disappointing food and no real care for the person who leaves disappointed and hungry.

The best vegan burger I've ever had in my life. The staff are so nice and they even gave us a schooner for the wait on our room. Good beer selection. Can't even begin to recommend this place enough.

Stayed the weekend here and the Cally was a great traditional pub. We watched the footy and had great meals. The service from staff was fantastic. In particular Jo who was very accomodating and helpful. Would highly recommend a visit here for dinner and drinks.

Over the bar beer over $10 I know that's most pub charge but they gave a beer food and coffee voucher which was very much appreciated I seen something I have rarely seen the placed was booked out ( the whole city was booked out ) But early Saturday morning ( that's when i booked out) I overheard a guess say he had to cancel his Saturday night because of personal reasons the manager said look I can give you a refund GOOD on you Cally

My wife and I were looking for a convenient meal in a chilly Warrnambool, when we stumbled across The Cally.
What a pleasant surprise.
There was quite a crowd, but the friendly team managed to find us a prime table in the toasty warm Beer Garden.
Our meals arrived quickly and didn't disappoint.
The Cally Parmigiana and Grilled Chicken Avacado & Tabouli salad were generous and delicious.
Special mention to House Manager Jo, who couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay and got to the car without being drenched.
We can highly recommend The Cally.

Let me tell you, The Cally in Warrnambool surprised me. It wasn't what I expected from a pub hotel, but in a good way! Sure, the rooms are pretty basic – think comfy beds, clean linen, but shared bathrooms. But the vibe? Totally unexpected.
The place is buzzing. There's a real country hospitality feel, and everyone seems to know each other. Maybe it's because it's right in the center of town, but it felt like a real community hub. I grabbed a beer at the bar and ended up chatting with a local couple about the upcoming whale watching season. They were so friendly and gave me tons of tips on things to see and do.
Honestly, if you're after a fancy, frills kind of place, The Cally probably isn't for you. But if you want a clean, comfortable stay in a place with a warm atmosphere and a chance to meet some interesting people, then this is a great pick. Plus, it's super affordable, which is always a bonus when you're traveling!

I would give this 0 stars if it were possible, the food was horrible my steak I ordered rare was cooked well done, my veggies were microwaved, my double shot bourbon and coke was in 2 glasses when I specified 1 glass. I will not be returning to this waste of money establishment.

Held a private function in one of the function rooms.The staff were ever so helpful before,during and after the event.The finger food option was of great variety and came out at good intervals. The room was well equiped with air con,seating and lighting.Special thank you to Jo who was very attentive to our needs and made our experience a fantastic one.Thank you Jo❤️...

Have been here a few times while travelling. Always a good pub experience. Tonight, I had the duck risotto. Awesome. Too much for me to finish, but a great feed. Never had a bad meal here.

Had dinner here. Large range for a pub like menu. Amazing customer service- all staff very friendly and helpful. Place could use with better signage- we accidentally walked into a private function which was awkward. Food was really good! Thought it was odd that lasagna is only in the kids menu though. Definitely recommend!

Food was cheaper than anywhere else I've been to and had fantastic gluten free options. As a coeliac I was able to eat their comfortably as they had a gluten free fryer and a strong understanding of minimising the risk of cross contamination. By far the best parma I've ever had. Live in the Yarra Valley but will definitely return next time we're in the area

Fantastic service, staff are wonderful, go out of their way to attend to everyone’s needs. Menu is diverse, something for everyone. Meals were delicious.

Easily the most expensive place in town to get a drink by far which is a shame because it’s a great pub, meals are decent and at a reasonable price. The beer garden is beautiful on a sunny day 👌🏼

Booked my mums 50th on a Thursday night, all the staff were lovely , they were so accommodating to what we needed. Couldn’t ask for a better night! We were in the beer garden, was able to set up decorations and they were so lovely . Can’t thank them enough ❤️❤️

Basic room for a good price. Comfy bed and clean shared bathroom facilities. Good location, 10 minute walk to Main Street.

Bar staff excellent! Meals are good! TAB and tradie bar 😉 no snacks offered to members at Friday night drinks or special events. GF etc

Bad customer service. Unfriendly staff and not even helpful. Stayed there for one week. From check in and check out the staff (male) did not even give a welcoming and friendly vibe, not even a smile and a help with the luggage since there was a flight of stairs going to the room. I thought maybe they are not used to guests like me that stay there for more than a couple of days. Upon check out same unfriendly attitude, no help, no smile, no small chat on how was my stay they just took the keys and walked away. Maybe there were relieved that the asian guy is leaving their place.
The room is a typical hotel with a pub. Funny bit is the basin mirror which was fit for someone 6 feet and up. The closet drawer was not working and had some left over bottles from the last hotel guest.
Back to the not so amiable staff, I only learned upon check out that they have vouchers for hotel guests for the pub. Would have been nice if they told me about it.
