What a amazing venue in the heart of Brisbane almost makes me want to move to Brisbane. We were made welcome and look after like celebrities

We were there before the Pink concert and even though it was flat out the staff were great and the food was yummy and not a big wait. Good job Caxton Team.

Went to the Seafood festival only to learn it was NOT as advertised! No food trucks as promised, over priced limited fresh seafood and frozen deep fried seafood served in a car park. What a let down. Won’t be back for another go.

Went out with family and friends for my birthday. Great place and food. Meals are big well worth the money and reasonable priced. Not a lot of parking on-site and street parking is limited so plan for that. Overall a great experience.

Went based on the 300g steak special and found out you had to buy a drink with it despite not being listed as such in their advertising. Steak was thick and not evenly cooked ranging from rare to medium. Wife ordered the mussels only to be told 5 mins later that it was not available. Waitress didn't advise about the black board specials which we noticed only after our initial order. My wife then ordered the fish of the day on the board with the only price listed as $19.90 but later found that the actual price was about $34 and the $19.90 price was for the pasta dish only. Drinks were outrageous and a pint of beer and ginger beer cost $15 and $17 respectively. Better value elsewhere.

We came here for state of origin and I am so glad we did. This was probably the best football atmosphere I have ever experienced. The venue was packed but it was worth it in every way. They served jugs of beer which stopped the long line-ups at the bar. Everyone in the venue was also very friendly and we made some great friends. The beer prices were reasonable considering the occasion. I dont think there was a minute of silence from start to finish. This place is iconic for a reason and hats off to the security they handled the venue extremely well. There weren't any fights either and everyone was allowed to have a true origin experience. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to watch the football with an amazing atmosphere then definitely come down here.

The Deluxe Seafood platter was amazing, however we were sat in the sun for the duration of our time - it was very hot and the glare was intense. Originally we were told our table number however we were seated at a different table. When we asked to move, we were told that there was no other options, when there were numerous tables available including our original table.

The Caxton Hotel is legendary. It has multiple areas for the customers. We tried the dining area in the back. It would be a pleasant place except for the NOISE. The acoustic of the area is appalling. I measured sustained levels of noise over 85 decibels with peaks over 92 decibels. It was almost impossible to converse with my table mates. The chicken schnitzel parmigiana did not come with any salad. The bar areas were quiter initially, but as they filled the level of background noise increased there too. There was a reasonable range of beers on tap. On our visit open WiFi was not available from the Caxton Hotel.

My wife and I dined here on a quiet Thursday night in June. The place was fairly empty, which suited us fine, as it made the ambience quiet, laid back and relaxing and we also received excellent attention from the wait staff. Parking was a breeze too, and we managed to get a spot right opposite the hotel, where restrictions end at 7.00pm. We had taken the precaution of booking ahead but it wasn’t necessary, with ample free tables and we were able to choose where we wanted to sit. It was a cold, wintry night and this is a slightly chilly venue with a mainly white colour scheme, high ceilings and tiled floors, which isn’t ideal for winter. But they do have a few heavy duty, industrial strength heaters strategically placed throughout the venue, so of course we chose a table that was close to one. The place has been tastefully decked out with stylish modern furniture in black and white, and being a large space, it’s open, airy and comfortable with plenty of room between the tables. With a gentle breeze blowing through it, this would be a pleasure on a hot Qld summer night. Our server was Brianne. Like all the wait staff, she was neatly turned out in a black and white uniform, to match the overall colour scheme of the place. She was a friendly young lady: Helpful, polite and efficient, and she made sure that the evening ran smoothly for us from beginning to end. Orders were quickly taken, and drinks entrees and mains came out at steady clip, in the correct order and with minimum waiting time between courses. That’s just the way we like it! We started with a couple of glasses of our fav Juliet Moscato sparkling white wine ($9 for a small glass, a hefty $15 for the 250ml glass). That went down well and whetted our appetites. For an entree, we ordered the salt and pepper calamari with sweet chilli dressing ($17). The calamari was nice and chewy, perfect with a slice of lemon, chilli sauce and a sprinkling of tomato and celery salad with salsa. The serving size was small for the price, and we finished it off in no time. For our mains, we both ordered the 350 g porterhouse steaks at $30 each. They came with beer battered chips and a choice of one sauce and one side dish. We both chose mushroom sauce and coleslaw as our side. Steaks were well cooked the way we like them to be, and perfectly complemented by the crispy chips and smooth, creamy coleslaw. Fab meals, beautifully prepared and nicely presented to the table on smart white crockery. We both enjoyed our steaks. With only a smattering of other guests, the acoustics were perfect and we had no trouble conversing. The wicker chairs were comfy, and the tables large enough to fit all the drinks and meals. Toilets are clean, well provisioned and easy to find. Our bill two came to $78, after a $30 “Dining Out in Brisbane” discount. I guess without the discount, we would have paid a rather steep $108 for three glasses of wine, one entree and two steaks. This just goes to show the extent to which our little Aussie peso has been devalued thanks to govt profligacy and reckless spending. But overall, we had a very pleasant evening here and it all went swimmingly. The food is excellent, service is fast and efficient and the ambience is pleasant and relaxed in an airy and comfortable space. I’m sure we’ll be back to the Caxton before too long.

Lunch rump special was great value an mnd cooked to my liking. Very busy due to Christmas lunches so was a bit noisy but otherwise quite good. The staff kept up which was amazing considering the crowd.

Look, heading into this place, I was not expecting a Gordon Ramsay Michelin-star dining experience, but Jesus, when I pay $35-$40 for a schnitzel, I expect that my schnitzel is cooked with love and at least get more than a palm-sized worth of chips. Also, what was the chef doing with plates and serving methods? Two dishes were the same, but they came presented differently and on two different plates, lol. Since the food is terrible and their beer is served in plastic, I think the Caxton is the last stop for me on GameDay.

I went here with my partner knowing it was a hotel so it wasn't going to be the most fine dining. We went to watch the MMA Fight. Overall atmosphere wise it was just like a normal hotel loud and rambunctious. The employees were great but sometimes I felt uncomfortable with 1 or 2 of their tones but I believe that was just me. However wasn't overly fond of being repeatedly asked if I was finished with my drink, especially while being in the middle of eating the orange from it. The food itself was delicious as where the drinks. My partner got the pulled pork burger and I had the stk salad and chips. Would go again.

I wasn't aware of the 5% Saturday surcharge. I was only informed by staff after payment following eating meal, questioning it after receiving change, having paid cash. I didn't notice it printed on the menu or anywhere else. Spoilt the overall experience.

I have been a loyal Cacko regular for many years, every time I go there the staff are very attentive and look after me all the time. They are happy to find the right channel for me when I want to watch a sports game and the food and atmosphere are amazing. I always have fun every time I go there.

Iconic pub that I've now scratched off my bucket list. Great experience, especially before major sporting events, in my case Magic Round 2022. Good pub food, and of course, plenty of beer🍺

Had a great dinner with 9 work colleagues and everyone was very happy with what they received. Great service by Taisy and Sophie who when placing our meals down remembered what each of us had ordered. Little things that should be noticed!! Thanks ladies…..

Good place for a casual beer and a meal. I had one of the steak specials and the steak was cooked well and tasted good. Chips and salad were OK. Prices for the food were reasonable but was a bit surprised at paying over $12 for a schooner of 150 lashes. Ambience was quite cool as there were plenty of photos on the wall and different bar areas to sit at. Overall a good experience.

Friendly staff. Extra extra large salad for the win. I would skip the pizza next time. The larger restaurant isn’t open on some days of the week.

Finally, at Caxton Hotel. A great family run this wonderful Hotel. Pub was so well managed for the huge night of State of Origin. Am sure after the brilliant management of this huge night that the everyday service is excellent. A must to visit

Biggest problem going to the Caxton is parking. Tried the Barracks car park and all 3 stories were full. Got so frustrated we nearly drove home, took us 3/4 of an hour to find a park. I did actually book but there was no need, the place was almost empty on a Saturday night. Large place, pleasant, somewhat outdated. Staff was excellent. Food, well, the oysters kilpatrick were served in some sort of thick sauce that you needed a fork and knife to get through . Not to my taste and certainly not to my understanding of how kilpatrick should be served. I had the filet minion , my partner filet steak. Both were well presented, cooked well and enjoyable. We had a pleasant enough evening and I don’t really have any complaints, but would I go back again? Naw, plenty of pubs around town that can do what the Caxton does.

A Wednesday night dinner in the Char Grill restaurant. A pretty quiet night so not a lot of atmosphere - out the back, overlooking the carpark & separated from the rest of the hotel action . The staff were very friendly & attentive ,- often checking for drinks& food orders. Meals arrived quickly & as ordered - reef & beef with scallops & prawns, porterhouse & rump. Very tasty & good size with accompaniments - sauce, salad, chips, vegetables, baked spuds. Prices fair for this type of pub. Some parking available incl on road. Paid parking at the Barracks. Multiple bars along Caxton St with big screens. Always a cool space for a coldie & a steak.
