When you walk in you’ll be surprised of how nice the place is. The facade doesn’t give it justice. There are repairs on ground floor so we had to go downstairs to get the food and that was a bit confusing but at the end the ambiance is amazing and the food was great in size and quality. Will definitely go there again.

Went there to play a few games at the pool table. The experience was decent, the pool table is good. But they closed the bar way too early and had nothing to offer. Not satisfied with the bar service.

Visited for a team lunch and tried the schnitzel, steaks, and fried chicken burger. The chicken schnitzel was raw, however the staff quickly corrected the issue. The steaks were cooked perfectly, but the portion size (200g) appeared rather small, so if you're hungry, you might want to consider ordering two mains or some sides. The fried chicken burger was ok; the chicken was well cooked and had nice texture, but its flavour was somewhat blah. The fries were fantastically crunchy. The table ordering system could use some improvement. For example, it would make more sense to be able to order drinks through the table QR ordering system instead of having to order food via QR and then going to the bar for drinks. It seems more practical to order everything at once at the bar especially if you need to go to the bar anyway. Nevertheless, the food arrived quickly despite the bustling atmosphere, with a large union party taking place downstairs. Many seats available upstairs also.

Very bad service. The booking manager, Hanna, was very rude to me in front of my guests which was embarrassing.
I would recommend heading down to The Collector Hotel instead.

Top little place for cheeky (non alcoholic) lunch or post work catchup... with beer...

This pub has a large beer garden - this, and the atmosphere, are possibly the main attraction of the hotel. The only problem with the large beer garden is that the smoke from the beer garden leaks into the eating area. On the food side of things, I bought a steak for dinner - it was excellent. Staff serving drinks at the bar were fast and efficient. This hotel is located across the road from the Parramatta train station - it's located in a very handy located.

This pub has a great atmosphere. It's fun and casual. The bistro is great. The cheap Tuesday deal is really good value. They have rump/ schnitzel with salad and chips for $12. The steak is excellent quality and schnitzel is perfectly crumbed, light and crisp on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. Definitely the best schnitzel I have had in recent memory. Beers are pretty standard. No craft beers or anything fancy, but it's a good solid local venue that caters for the "after work" market. They have a little beer garden with a huge screen for watching sports and what not. Good for big matches. The poker machine area can get very smoked up at times, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. That's the only downside to this place.

The seating down stairs is out dated and uncomfortable.
Our food was cold because the buzzer didn't work.
Pigeons in the eating area.
Very confusing as to smoking being in the eating area.
It used to be so much better, don't know why they took the comfortable booths out.

The review is for the Commercial Hotels upstairs area only as a function venue. The Commercial is a well appointed pub for the area and we really liked the set up for the function we attended. There's enough space for 40 people in the upstairs area with the indoor seating and outdoor balcony space. The staff are friendly albeit at times slightly clueless about the food they are catering and drinks but it's hardly noticable. I'd definitely recommend the Commercial as a venue for a birthday or corporate celebration.

The food was very good (I had the Friday special sirlion steak) and service was friendly and professional.
Unfortunately the upstairs dining area is directly above the smoking area and all I could smell was cigarettes during the entire dinner.
I don't know how the so called "outdoors" smoking area got approved since it is surrounded by four walls and a roof! The only thing that was open was the door.
To me this seems like a violation of NSW laws which require smoking at least 4m away from the entrance to any eating area and is also a WHS risk to staff and patrons due to second hand smoke inhalation.
Either they need to open everything up to give enough ventilation for the cigarette smoke or just find an ACTUAL outdoor area to put the smoking section.
I recommend that anyone who doesn't like lung cancer give this place a miss.

Positively surprised! We came here by accident because we were in the area for dinner. The prices are good and there was even live music playing. Downstairs is for race and sport enthusiasts, a pool table and smoker's area and upstairs also has a smoker's area and a dining section. That's also where the live music is. The place is big , modern and clean. We only got drinks , no food but I'll be back if in the area!

Ordering can be done online which is convenient, and the food is good. Prices are a little steep though, wish they had more low cholesterol options.

Not sure what happened to this place, it used to be the talk of the town, with the Glorious Rubarb Pork Belly, now it just seems depressing, with not much atmosphere and the menu that is currently avaliable is terrible.
For example I wouldn't recommend the lamb rump, Iceberg of lettuce that would sink the Titanic and the cornflour in the gravy, would starch a shirt.
Just terrible, this used to be my local but after a short time away, it seems like I'll have to find a new one.
Would not recommend, such a terrible waste and decision. 😓

My first and only experience of the hotel on a 38 degree day probably wasn't the best to form a review. The fans and air con did little to relieve the stifling conditions. But the food was surprisingly good. Couldn't fault the roasted cauliflower salad and my colleague's meals all looked tasty and well presented.

I frequent here with my friends and usually the food is on point but our most recent visit was pretty disappointing. The Carlton tank beer was out and this isn't the first time, also the hard solo had "run out" My pasta was over cooked and the prawns were awful (charcoaled) I had also asked for no chilli but it was all the way through. My friends surf and turf was the same. Another friend order the Portuguese chicken and there was only one piece of broccolini ! None of us felt comfortable approaching the kitchen staff as we felt there was a language barrier. I hate leaving these reviews and especially for this establishment as the staff are always amazing but this all needs to be noted by management.

I dunno..jury is out on this one as on my last visit lots of renovations and loss of character. However will wait until completed to pass final judgment. Otherwise, nothing special and they don't have Reschs Beer. 😢

Handy that you can order from your table but then you have to go down to the serving area to collect. Food is okay - Cheese pizza is pretty standard. Schnitzels are good size. Handy place for a quick bite to eat if you are in the area.

Had very bad experience recently . We only had a. Beer. But I saw lot of rasicim. I was mis treated.and Asian girls -after 10 pm t so rude. They r not humans . I pity aus

Good place to unwind after work. Great place to hang out with friends and drink (happy hour) The ambiance is good. There is also a band last Friday (when I went there). just hard to find parking in the area. Steak is ok..

Beautiful building, I stopped in for a couple cold ones 4pm Wednesday. Very friendly staff, easy spot to relax huge smoking area goes good with me. I didn’t eat or park.

A surprising gem of a place, for lunch or dinner. The food arrived lightning quick, was tasty and of great value. I will definitely be back for a drink after work to soak in the atmosphere.

A few work colleagues headed to the Commercial Hotel to try out their lunch specials. 3 x lunch special chicken schnitties were ordered ($18ea). 1 minute after the last person ordered, their buzzer goes off. How could the food be ready in 60 seconds was it a rejected order sent back to the kitchen? Maybe! because the gravy was cold.
It took another 10 minutes for the other 2 schnittys to arrive. The schnitz itself was a strange shape and crumbed in radioactive orange crumbs. Were these cornflakes?? It resembled a giant chicken nugget or even a Japanese beef/potato croquette. It was to our surprise, real chicken breast, not pressed chicken.
Diane sauce was nice. Creamy Garlic sauce was a watery mess. Average portion size. Small side salad with very acidic dressing. Not many pub options down this end of Parramatta though. Interested if cheeseburger comes with chips as it doesnt state it.

Absolutely Delicious Pub Food. We walked all over Parramatta on a Monday night looking for a nice pub meal and we hit gold here. Honestly our vegetables were cooked to perfection and the schnitzels so wonderful

1st great service, then followed by great food & lastly the atmosphere is so chillaxin' that I'd dine there every weekend. Also across the road from P'matta station for easy access. No drink driving required.

10/10 If it's the classic pub feed experience you seek, you found it. Right across from the station too!
Service is great. Atmosphere is better.
And stick around on the weekend for the live music.
