What a fab find for a lazy Monday public holiday lunch! A lovely, older style pub at the side meets a fresh modern yet cosy dining room on the other. Service today was great from everyone too. I was a little shocked how big the children’s meals were, all full of fresh produce, our kids schnitzel and steak were outstanding. The pumpkin soup was lovely, as was the HUGE chicken Parma! I love a parma and this one was hot, fresh, full of amazing salad on the side…Hot chips… it fed two adults basically so that’s how big it was. 10/10.

We visited The Commo this evening to have a bottle of wine and watch the football in the Bar. The Bar service was good. Then a lady attended to us with excellent table service for another bottle. With somebody providing that service. Why not a full meal to follow plus the Cats winning. Also watched this lady with children in the room. Excellent friendly environment. Met nice locals as well.

Took far too long to order food, then I had to get in another line to order drinks.. All 6 of us thought the food was average for the price. Oh and they didn’t accept our frothy vouchers of 50% off second meal cause it was game night at GMHBA. Could honestly say we’ve had better food and service.

The service was subpar. The food was overpriced and disgusting. The Commo used to be a great little Geelong pub but not anymore. Won't be going back. Very disappointing 😞

Staff were friendly and helpful. Dessert was very delicious!! Lasagne was very average. I thought it looked very dated in my opinion compared to other places I have been.

Seems OK, wine extremely expensive, could of stayed for the arvo but drinks far too expensive. Food was very good. I'd pass on the special roast next time, 3 small slices of lamb a bit ordinary. I was hoping for a good feed. But nice. Very noisy.

Nice little pub on Bellerine street, which puts it between the middle of the town and the pub. Very close to South Geelong station. Good prices (Vodka, Lime & Soda was $7, Pint of beer was $7) and a good feed (parmi with chips and veg (see photo) was $15. Ambience is very plain and invites an older crowd, but totally worth a visit.

My family and I used to be regular customers at The Commo, however after our most recent experience I doubt we will be back. It all started when my mother called to book a table, and was barked at through the phone that they were busy and she would need to call back later as they didn't have time to find the reservation book, poor excuse for customer service there. Then when we arrived for our lunch, I was helping my elderly grandmother in through the door to her seat, she has trouble walking and needs to sit down, we were then yelled at by a woman behind the bar that we would need to show our vaccine certificates. I understand this is a requirement of entry, however I'm sure I could have sat my grandmother down and then shown them. There was also no greeting, hello or welcome. Another poor excuse for customer service. Then my aunty ordered a drink with no ice, when her drink arrived with ice she asked for a new one with no ice like she had ordered and the girl behind the bar proceeded to scoop out the ice from the drink and then top the original glass up and give it back to her. Absolutely disgraceful. The final straw was my lamb ragu which was so watery (see photo) and had absolutely no flavour. I didn't even bother to complain or ask for a new dish as I'm sure that I would have received the same dismissive, rude treatment we had for the rest of our time here. We will need to see some drastic improvements to this establishment before we would even consider returning. Very very disappointed.

Have been regular visitor to this fine pub. I dine with my oldest daughter and have never had a bad meal. The eye fillet is worth the travel from Werribee, always cooked perfectly. Great service and staff are very friendly and efficient.

Great pub food and really nice atmos. 26 March 2024 update - excellent service, it's always good here but the woman who took care of us today in the bar area for lunch was really very personable. The steaks today were amazing, the chef cooked them perfectly which is a rarity with medium rare eye fillet. Thanks for the great experience 😁

Great food options with specials every night. Prices for food are okay but alcoholic drinks on tap are $17! Bistro and bar seating are spacious, seem to get really busy due to popularity most nights. Kind staff.

Good beer and good food. Staff were efficient and friendly enough. Had the Chicken Scallopini. Good size serve for the price. The chicken was moist and tender with plenty of sauce. Best thing about it was having 4 different vegetables in it. No sign of the dreaded "mixed leafy greens" that far to many pubs use as a plate filler and rarely gets eaten! Would've given 5 stars except a mate had the mixed grill which was a bit light on. The steak was tiny, although the small size was in the menu detail. We agreed that in an attempt to keep the price down the quantity was compromised. He would've been happy paying a higher price for a better and larger cut of steak. He did say the sausage was very good!

Food was OK. Nothing special. Menu was pretty boring. Great if you love chicken or fish. Meals are way too big. Don't get the ribs.

Came here a couple of weeks ago and it was mostly great except for the fact the older lady with blonde hair and glasses maybe the owner was caught giving dirty looks and rolling her eyes at a younger female staff member, (who also had blonde hair) for chatting with me. I didn't think this was very fair or very professional. It's not illegal to have a chat with customers at work and she was merely trying to help decide my order. I would also like to add the same older lady was seen on her laptop when I first walked in and had completely missed me approaching the bar and trying to order because of it.

Awesome pub style setting for a meal. Been a few times over the years and now gotten a few others on the bandwagon. Consistently great food, fantastic menu variety. Going back you want to order the dish you had last but there are so many other options. Lots of veg and pescatarian options in particular. This time had the garlic bread, roast n veg, salmon, mussels, calamari and fish tacos. All delicious and all great serves. Best garlic bread I've ever had, calamari was so tender, fish tacos came were flavourful and mussels fresh as, though the broth was too salty imo. Wine pricing reasonable though a few of the bottle prices vs glass don't make sense (check the French rose). Friendly and efficient service from booking, to table service, to leaving.

$16 for a lovely Parma - can’t go wrong! Went on Saturday, Geelong’s season opener. Great atmosphere and very busy, booking in advance is recommended on match days. Staff were very accommodating and squeezed us on to an extra table. Only disappointment was that their sticky date pudding was not available.
