Yummy food, great ambience, affordable price. Mostly locals. Loved my chicken schnitzel.

Well after having lunch across the road, both my husband and I felt like something sweet to eat. We noticed a garden bar across the road so we thought that we would see if they had any desserts!
Sure enough there were two chef's specials. Fudge Brownie & Apple & Mixed Berry crumble! Ordered both & we were not disappointed! The chef did a fantastic job! It was fresh, hot & delectable!
Cost was $9.90 each. Thank you! The setting was not too shabby, big open space with super friendly staff! 😊🙌

Vegan lunch options are fantastic so continue to lead the way in pub lunches in the CDB with these options.Curry in the Buddah bowl out of this world for depth of favour

Unprofessional customer service. I'm a barmaid myself and I believe customer should in a way be treated like family. Im all about women empowerment and diversity. I felt uncomfortable.

This is a great pub that welcomes everyone. I go for the Friday night steak special. $28 trump steak, fries and salad with choice of sauce. Bonus, includes a schooner of tap beer. The best steak I've had in Cairns.

The staff are fantastic, however what’s been a suprise with this local pub, is a standard pub food menu (which is fine), cooked better than the far more expensive restaurants I frequent with friends on special occasions. The Chef/Cook (Heston Blumenthal had no quals), is exceptional. I’ve tried a number of dishes and the attention and care was evident in each one. To have batter so thin and bonded to an honest piece of fish with chips cooked in obviously fresh oil, bolstered by the best fresh and tasty salad, which was n itself a menu item, makes this the best ‘fish & chips’ I’ve ever eaten…and I’ve been from Dublin to Dubai. For the healthier, the grilled fish is amazing. Kudos to you the Crown for being an amazing local pub, and for hiring a top notch chef.

The bar on the corner of Shield used to be really cool when it was revamped a few years ago. But now it's a bit tired and the staff reflect that too. Perhaps all the energy has gone into the new bar at the back!

Terrible frozen microwaved restaurant food -
Decided to give the garden bar restaurant a try and WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE THAT WAS!! I ordered the vegetable curry being a vegetarian and the wait was quite a bit but i put that down to my girlfriends food (lasagne) and when it arrived it appeared reasonable. But how looks can be deceiving as it was bland, boring, watery mess with steamed rice (not even cooked properly as well)! It was clear it was frozen and maybe not even defrosted but nuked for a good few minutes so it wasn’t cold anymore but just a melted piece of mess! The first and last time i will be visiting this atrocious restaurant! I feel robbed

Nice service and clean tables. Food was ok, had a chicken schnitzel which was probably the best I’ve had in cairns out of the 5 cbd pubs, although that’s not saying much as most were pretty average. It’s hi vis mafia location which can be both good and bad.

Monday night, wife and I decided to have a pub feed.
Chicken Parmi and Rump, both great and Parmi so big I couldn't finish it.Staff friendly and $$ reasonable.

I was staying around the corner so I decided to get a beverage in this lovely establishment, I talked to some locals that seemed nice till I got to the bar and met the most rudest obnoxious bartender named Tommy! he obviously must be new because this man definitely doesn’t know the meaning of hospitality. I would definitely love to come back to this venue again but if that man is serving you go to another venue because he doesn’t care about the customers

I took my three kids for lunch and it was awesome. I rate the bar staff as the friendliest in Cairns and the meals, especially the kids, were excellent value.
Surprised other dads haven’t discovered this one.

I stopped in for an early dinner and drink. I ordered the chicken burger w/fries and an adult beverage. The chicken burger was huge, flavorful, tasty and nicely presented. The fries didn't need any ketchup or salt. They were perfectly seasoned and cooked. The beverage I had was good. It's so awesome to find buffalo trace at some many establishments and stores all over Australia

Good selection of beers and the daily food specials are pretty good value. Garden bar inside the facility is pretty good.

Enjoyed the special of the night, a T-bone steak with a scooter of beer for $25. Good value.
Beer was cold and fresh. Steak was pretty good as well. Comes with chips and a salad.
Enough tables indoors overlooking Grafton Street. And plenty of outdoor covered seats on both streets.
Friendly bar staff. Mostly locals.

Amazing to see all staff working together and pouring nice cold beverages for everyone. Amazing management skills were displayed by the copper haired handy who I assume is the manager. The Latina blonde looking girl I think her name is Monique always greets me with a happy friendly smile. Wouldn’t go anywhere else for an iced cold schooner 😊

A fantastic place to experience Cairns.
Great entertainment, great staff and great people. Combine this with well priced food, beer & accommodation and it has to be a winner all round!

5/1/2024 Time about 9:30pm ordered a vodka red bull , tall glass was topped up to the top!!! Not paying for ice little bar girl. In my 50s and she’s abruptly asking me to say please. You should update your RSA tall legged girl !!
