This was a “you get what you pay for” experience. Yes it was cheap but the filthy condition, loud noise all night including police attendance & broken.. everything was definitely not worth it. Broken tv remote, broken aircon remote, broken alarm clock. The room was freezing all night with the heater on. The staff were polite but the cleanliness made me feel disgusting there was blood stains, burn holes etc. on the bed and the bathroom stench literally made me gag, my child couldn’t even go to the toilet. There was only one towel provided for two people not that we could use that terrible bathroom. I very rarely like to say anything negative but this place is a highly not recommended from me. I believe it’s below health standards. There’s a plastic bag covering the smoke detector, not sure what that’s about but feels unsafe. The building is old and there are cobwebs I expect that but there’s no excuse for filthy subpar standards for any paying customer. What a shame.

The room was clean with all expected amenities of a budget accommodation. Screen remote was difficult to navigate the channel esp wen its 🏉 kick off time. The place is bang for it's buck and Parking 🅿️ was easy and accessible. The place is reasonably soundproofed/quiet from the street and pub on the ground floor. With the exception of early morning rowdy pub crowd noisy for hours on end, disturbing sleep and peace as they scattered the street with their drunken stupor.

The rooms were really quiet and away from the pub, with access from the back and the front of the building. The room was clean, super nice and new bathroom, AC and lovely sheets and a comfortable bed. Really worth the location, 10 minutes to the station, local cafes and op shops, and just around the corner from the car repair shop where my broken down car was towed. Only issue was the front door handle was broken and you couldn't get out, so had to climb the stairs and exit from the back instead! Absolutely would stay here again, well worth the price.

The room looked like someone had left that morning and no one had entered until I got the key. Mould, soap scum and hair in the shower. Stained bedding, dirty coffee cup and unvacuumed carpet. Actually slept on own beach towel on top the bed covers.

The noise from the disco was going till 3am!! Loud and thunky!! Who could sleep? The people in the next room were also pissed off because their daughter was playing in Goulburn in a big tennis tournament and no sleep either, what about your paying customers!? Room was nice and clean but one side of the bed only had a power point. Couldn’t open the fridge properly.

The empire hotel has just been refurbished and is an absolute gem. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is great. The accomodation, while basic, is great (Pub with ensuite rooms!!!)||||They are still ironing out some kinks with their house keeping processes, and while the issue was annoying, the staff were very apologetic and worked to eventually resolve the issue.||||With some attention to detail, and a few little touch up to the room, this will be a great place to stay for a great price.||||If we are back this way, we would stay again.

Stayed last Thursday, bar staff friendly and place has gone through a nice reno from what I could see. Room was what I'd expect for $89 with the en suite a bonus. Would go there again except the sheets hadn't been changed (slightly stained and clearly had been slept on) and previous tenants wet towels were still hanging on the bathroom door. Would have scored it an extra star or 2 if we didn't have to strip the bed and sleep on our towels and dodge the dirty towels in the bathroom.

Stayed 2 nights in the hotel. What an absolute disgrace for $85/night! Dirty room with cobwebs, not cleaned fridge, old milk capsules. Music downstairs with drunk people up to 4-5am! As pub shuts at 3am everyday, patrons just stay outside chattering and playing music from their phones! Absolutely disgusting, most pub/motel charge $250-280/week if accommodation is above the pub, but not $85/night! Never ever again!

Service was good & they warned me about the DJ going to 3am The entrance to the rooms is tired & run-down (paint peeling, old carpet etc). The room is clean but basic & the blind on the main window barely gave any privacy to the stairwell. The music started downstairs around 9.30pm & it was seriously loud. The noise made the room not fit for purpose. I learnt the hard way but I have stayed in worse!

Sam is very helpful. Although the hotel is of course dated, the room has everything you need and a comfy bed.

Pub buggered up booking, had to put me in room sectioned off for maintenance. Wouldn't honour Stay NSW vouchers and no response from owner when made repeated attempts to talk about stay. Won't be going back

Overnight stay at the hotel for a funeral. I wish I had seen the reviews about the loud music playing at night until 3am. The walls reverberated with the thumping! Very tired hallway with tubs of building rubbish in the entrance way. Room ok, bathroom clean with nice towels. If accommodation is offered at a hotel and you’re paying for a room to sleep, then the cutoff time for the live music should be 12pm

Needed to find somewhere to stop and sleep late one night and these guys were still open and the lady was really nice. Got some sleep despite the drunken ruckus, the insects and hairs in the bed and the light shining on the pillow through the window above the bed. Shower was a bit broken but possible

My husband, myself and 2 friends sort the place out for tapas after travelling up from Sydney for work purposes. We are mature aged people, 50 to 60 yeats. Neither one of us have ever experienced the hostility and absolute sense of 'unwelcome,' that was demonstrated to us at this hotel. Needless to say, we left before we even got to order food. I've never made a public complaint about any establishment, but I've felt compelled to here.

Music from bar thumping until 3am and then the racket from closing up. Room needs more attention to cleaning. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you don't need any sleep. A very local hotel with the regular drinkers arriving at 9am. Access via a back alleyway. Poor security.

I was driving from Melbourne to Brisbane to visit family for Christmas when I decided to stay here. The rooms where clean and overall really nice with a comfortable, clean bed. The staff where really friendly and professional. However, I couldn't sleep there for long as the noise from the bar was insane! Drunken people woke me up 3 times throughout the night, screaming, yelling, talking loudly! I finally was awoken again at 2 am and just decided to continue on my journey and leave. I just slept in my car at a rest stop a few hours later.

I've been using the accommodation here whilst working close by. Rooms are of a very good standard for PUB accommodation & the size of a Motel room. Remodeled with large Ensuite, fridge, air-conditioning and all the TV channels are available, instead of the usual no signal for a change ! Still more renovations to complete here, but I won't hesitate to recommend for good value & comfort. 3 nights or more discount as well . The staff are very friendly & outgoing too . Coles is across the road , ATMs & usual town amenities. Workers club at the back for meals as the bar has no kitchen as yet

I stayed overnight to break a long journey and would not recommend this place to anyone. It certainly doesn’t live up to the glowing description given in the property overview. The ensuite, whilst very large has evidently had a dubious renovation at some stage, however the shower hose and nozzle was held together by duct tape and in position with the assistance of several black plastic zip ties. The toilet roll holder was hanging loose and crooked, falling out of the wall as soon as toilet paper was used. The curtains were faded and let in street light - not the black-out blinds described! The bedspread was grubby, ripped and worn. The sheets were creased and pillows looked like they were well past their use by date. There was only one blanket which was on a shelf in a side room accompanied by a dirty bed tray ?? For warmth I had to fold the blanket double. The ‘smart TV’ included in the property description would have to be an over exaggeration - the actual TV in the room was so tiny that you needed binoculars to see it from the bed. The bedside lights were nonexistent and the noise from the pokies downstairs until the early hours of the morning capped off an unforgettable night. I realise this is budget accommodation but this place takes misleading descriptions to a new level. The only reason I gave this rating one star was because it wouldn’t submit without a rating

I booked wanting a cheap place with a bed and bathroom for something I had to do in the area. I wasn't expecting much but I would hardly be there so it didn't matter. I was pleasantly surprised with the bed, very comfortable and lots of blankets (which were needed). It's not fancy and you have to be alright with stairs, I don't think its advertised as accessible anyway but it is in a convenient location directly opposite the main shopping centre for groceries. I wasn't fussed on a few tiny details but it didn't detract from my stay. I'd stay there again just for the bed and location if I need a cheap crash pad to do other things. The staff were lovely so that's a bonus.

Good price for a one night stay. Centrally located, clean room and bathroom and quiet (Tuesday night). However shower head doesn't stay in its holder...bit annoying and only 2 sports channels on a very small TV. Friendly staff.

DO NOT STAY, unless you are young enough to walk up a flight of stairs to the first level. If you do stay and plan to arrive at night or go out to dinner - take a torch because the outside light DOES NOT turn on until you have walked about 3-4 steps into the back alley from the property fence - and the carpark is not lit at all at the hotel end of the carpark. I felt most uncomfortable because it was pitch black. Once upstairs the outside door lock is loose, which was disconcerting but probably OK. For the price the rooms are adequate and certainly looked very clean. The young lady in the pub with whom we spoke when we arrived was extremely friendly. We chose not to stay because the hotel advertisement (as of today) did not state that the accommodation was on the first level with no lift and my 90 yo mother would not have been able to climb the stairs. We also (as of today) did receive a refund!

Biggest thing was no desk space lucky cleaning lady let me use a small square dining table from the hall way so i could eat dinner and make lunch for work was there for 10 days. No microwave in the room was bit average was one in the hall way tho. Other wise for 75 a night I was happy and can't beat the location. Was in room 1 Pub it self is just small betting bar for locals and no food served but nice pubs/places very close to walk to for drinks and good meal.

Avoid! We were woken at midnight by music so loud that the floor vibrated. Just when we thought it couldn’t be any louder, it got worse! At 2:30am they pumped up the volume even louder. Even without my hearing aids, I could hear ever word of the lyrics. At 3am, the music finally stopped and then we had an hour of revellers hanging around outside, swearing, yelling and banging on doors. On top of this, the curtains didn’t fit the windows. For some reason, they decided to split the pair of curtains so one half was barely covering the window in the bedroom and the other curtain was over the bathroom window, hung on a mop handle! The lights in the building opposite, stayed on all night so it was hard to sleep before the music started. The pub needs to decide whether it wants to offer accommodation or be a ‘nightclub.’ It’s disrespectful and arrogant to offer accommodation without being honest and upfront about the noise. We asked for a quiet room away from the noise so if this is one of the quieter rooms, I dread to think what the other rooms are like. Now we are driving home extremely tired after three hours of sleep. The hotel should put a warning on their website about the noise and ask customers to bring their own curtains!

After asking staff a few weeks prior to change the very loud death metal music to something, the age of customers (30's +) could enjoy and being told no because he liked it. It was nice to go in this week and have no music at all, which was still better. Sad to see the staff changes have meant less care and smiles.
