What a stylish looking venue. We were seated upstairs & all I could think was how that area would be amazing for a private function.
Staff were friendly, from the security doormen to the waitresses.
Meals were of a good portion and reasonably priced.
Whenever we have a group booking, we always like to leave a tip to show appreciation for putting up with us.
This is the first place I’ve come across that does not accept tips!! I wonder why that is 🤔

We would like to say a massive thank you to Joanne and Rosanna for your incredible hospitality today as we gathered for lunch. Thank you for welcoming us into your beautiful space, you made us feel very much at home. The food was so fresh and plentiful, and we look forward to returning again with our friends and family in the near future. Thank you so much once again!

We went to the Essendon Hotel on Sunday to have a family lunch to celebrate my step-dad's birthday and we were really impressed by the quality of food. I had the rib-eye steak and oh my goodness, it was incredible! Probably one of the best steaks I've had for a while. The meat was perfectly marbled and cooked medium rare to my liking. I won't be in any rush to go back to Rockpool, that's for sure. We shared the burnt butter sage gnocchi and calamari and both were delicious! The burnt butter sage gnocchi was one if my favs too. The staff were also really friendly which was a bonus. They arranged a candle on a sticky date pudding and sang happy birthday which was really lovely of them. A few photos attached to show what all our meals looked like. Would highly recommend this venue.

We recently had a private function in March of 2024 at the Essendon Hotel in the private function room. It was great! The room itself is gorgeous, requiring no effort to think about suppliers and additional add ons. The food was great, huge portions, your guests will not go hungry - and the bar was just as good. Easy to deal with in the lead up, great service on the night. We had a playlist playing in the background, the footy was on and you can also access a private outdoor balcony.

We honestly couldn’t be more impressed with Hannah, who was our waiter for tonight. Hannah was absolutely beautiful and had the most amazing customer service skills. There were 16 of us and another table of 12 in her area she was looking after and she was awesome with her time, effort and wonderful personality. We honestly, have never had someone so amazing. She met all of our requests and always had a smile on her face. There was never a dull moment and we cannot thank her enough for all her hard work and dedication in making my sister’s birthday so special. She definitely needs a pay rise!!
Thank you so much once again Hannah and Essendon hotel for giving us someone like Hannah to help us out for the evening.

We celebrated our son’s 21st here in their function room, but we have also experienced their wonderful food for a lunch previously. The first time we walked in we felt this would be an amazing venue for the big milestone so we enquired and wow we were not disappointed. We met Sam initially to view the function room, he gave us a thorough overview and instantly we got excited… booked it in and had an excellent experience with Liam who took over from there and handled all the arrangements. Food and service was excellent. Grazing table delish 👏 so much food we were able to take some home. Thank you to the staff on the night, including Rosanna & Hannah. Our son just loved the night and has many special memories of his amazing evening so thanks again and we will be back for another 21st soon 😉 and of course our family lunches 😋. Cheers 🥂
Just a footnote the price is for function not lunch prices but it depends on what you decide to have 😁 😋

Was expecting a pub so was thoroughly impressed by the modern luxe fit out. It’s table service but they are very flexible with bill splitting which is the best of both worlds. We had the calamari which lacked flavour but they were accomodating to switch the salad to chips. We also had the lamb gnocchi which had quite a strong flavour so I regretted not opting for the parma. Plenty of options so definitely something to please everyone and a really great atmosphere to boot

Warm and personalised service for our lunch party of 21, able to accomodate unique requests without fuss. Guests remarked how the meals were very enjoyable and how personable the host (Josh) was. We would recommend!

Possibly the worst steak I've had in the last decade! The steak was dry and tough like leather, it was absolutely awful, the chips on the plate were incastrated with so much salt they were uneatable, the accompanying salad was bland with next to no dressing. I will never spend my hard earned at this establishment again, clearly the "chef" has no idea what they are doing. In contrast the waiting staff were brilliant.

OMG.....BEAUTIFUL.
My daughter arranged my 60th here.
The food to die for....servings very substantial.....the service extra special...
A night I will truly remember.
Would definitely recommend going here and I will definitely be back.....even though I am from Cairns.
Top of my list.

New to Essendon and booked for 7.45pm dinner on Saturday night. Confronted at the door by two bouncers for our booking details which surprised me as I thought we were coming to a restaurant.
Then the bouncer relays our booking details to an unwelcoming front desk and we’re told to wait at the bar for our table. The waiting staff were attentive and the food was good but the overall noise level was way too loud. The welcome, or lack off was very disappointing. Will perhaps return on the basis of the decor, food and service but get rid of the bouncers, just seems so unnecessary.

Just realised that I have never left a review for this magnificent place….
We have had many work Xmas parties ( my staff continually request we come here), many family birthdays and numerous other catch up here.
The staff are all engaging, polite and extremely well trained.
The food is always tasty, well presented and the menu has soooooo many options.
Drinks are good, wide beer selection and lots of creative cocktails.
If you wish to go out locally and impress, this is the place to go.

I wasn't expecting too much for my dinner but it came out to be the best out of best experiences. Their prawn skewers and lamb chops are something to go for again and again. Stakes were perfect. Overall a very good dining experience.

It was our first visit. We very rarely dine at pubs but this was a wonderful surprise. Your reviews are so positive and I can endorse those. A warm welcome, great knowledgable staff and excellent food contributed to a terrific experience. We will definitely be back.

I met up with a friend for dinner on the 27th July. From the time we crossed the threshold to enter the venue to the time we left, I was most impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the staff, without being over bearing or intrusive. We passed three team members on our way out and every one of them acknowledged us and wished us a good evening. I love that!! Well done to the team and staff training. Definitely recommend the venue, food, staff and price point.

I love this place.
They have different options of food and the portions are very good!
I recommend the sweet potatoes, aranchinis, short ribs, chicken parma, prawn linguine and beef burger. For the dessert you have to try the pudding is 100/100. The best dessert that I had in Melbourne.
The staff is lovely and they give you very good recommendations.
Also, this place is so good if you only want to have a couple of drinks as the bar is so cool and their staff very friendly.
I will always come back to TEH.

I have never been to such a nice place. The food was by far the best and the atmosphere even better. When it comes to service, they were very lovely and offered to change things to work around us and their customers. Big recommendation for this place 🙌 👏 👌 DEFINITELY COMING AGAIN AND RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!!

Have been to the Essendon Hotel a few times, and I have always enjoyed my experience. Today gets special mention, though we celebrated Mothers Day with a birthday. Being an extremely busy day, it can be easy for things not to be up to the usual standard, but the Essendon Hotel did not disappoint. The staff & service were amazing and the food spectacular. I recommend the Chilli prawn linguine! It's a winner. Love coming back to this place.

Hadn't been to the Essendon Hotel for a while but came in with the family for dinner this week. Atmosphere in the place is elegant in my opinion and just a nice place to be. We had Wagu Burger and Chicken Parma, they were tasty and good value for money. We managed to fit in a Sticky date pudding which I have to say the portion was the biggest I have seen, certainly great value and was really nice! Definitely will be back soon.

Great discovery!!
I’ve just had my first dinner in The Essendon Hotel. I’m delighted. The foot was delicious, great services, staff members are so friendly and helpful. Very clean and tidy. The atmosphere is families sharing together. It’s also good to hang out with friends.
Free parking is easy to find right in front of the venue. Dress code is casual elegant, relaxed, chic.

GO GO GO!
The standout was the service. Greeted at the door, shown immediately to a table (charming decor & atmosphere), water provided straight away. Orders taken promptly, drinks and food delivered quickly. Nothing was left undone and it was all done with a smile.
Menu is extensive for cocktails/drinks and food. Food was absolutely delicious.
I don’t live in the area and I only visited here again as I had attended a function upstairs and I was really impressed. It didn’t disappoint a second time either.
I will definitely be back and highly recommend.

Fantastic experience!
From greeting to farewell, from the food to the floor team, I have been to the Essendon Hotel a few times and every time they go above and beyond!
Perfect for family and really accommodating, they even have a parents room!
Great job team, congratulations to Joanne and her husband for running a tight ship!

Came here on the spur of the moment. As we had heard good things. We ordered drinks, which did not come at the same time !!
We both ordered steak, and it did not disappoint. The beans and carrots that accompanied were the freshest l have ever eaten.
Lovely meal with plenty of staff who made the meal complete.

Attended this with family and friends family, the service was amazing and the food was SO delicious. The venue is so pretty, it has a nice calming aesthetics.
The owners know Auslan as well, even more better as they could communicate with Deaf people which is very accessible!

Amazing place. We were here for mother's Day today and we had such a great time. The food is amazing and great portions and the service was outstanding. They were at full capacity and still the service was immaculate. Definitely recommend.
