We went for a bucks on Friday 22nd March and they booked us a table behind the mezzanine. Afterwards, they even cleared out the booths for us exclusively. They don't do bottle service but they made an exception and brought out biotles of champagne for us. The bar staff in the whole venue were friendly and polite and the security guards were fantastic, especially the guy with the afro, I forgot his name unfortunately

We really enjoyed our lunch party at the Exchange. The bistro area allowed us privacy for our group, 20 adults and 8 children. The meals were exemplary, everyone commented on how delicious the food was. The bar and bistro staff were very friendly and attentive. BF

Went on Friday to have a few beers after work. Had an amazing time, last time I went there there were these 2 guards joe and Darren they were really nice and hospitable, missed their presence in the venue.
Other than that awesome.

We had a delightful lunch here on Easter Saturday, the vibe and food was great. The only downside was that the website advertised discounted cocktails and they weren’t actually available which was pretty disappointing.

Upstairs balcony is lovely setting for dinner. Menu is diverse to accommodate options for all our table. Food was delicious and good serving sizes so we weren't looking for more at the end of the meal. Cocktails were very nice. Staff very friendly.

This salt and pepper squid was delicious and tender. This was a $10 lunch option where I swapped out the coleslaw for Caesar salad for an extra $4.50.
There were lots of great choices for the $10 lunch. Well worth heading there with your work colleagues.

The pan roasted Barramundi is a dish to look forward to and hasn’t failed to impress yet. Absolutely satisfied. Compliments to the chef/s

The evening that our small group attended was a quiet one, with that said the level of service was pretty poor. I felt that our small group late 30s and early 40s did not fit in here, as I feel age is not relevant the behavior certainly was, there was an element of immaturity displayed, asking questions about menu and food seem to be just too hard.
lift your game, in times now where money is very scarce, and venues need business a level of service is expected.
I will say that the young gentleman on duty that was acting manager was polite and refunded us for one of the dishes.
I do think it’s pretty sad that a pub can’t get a basic meal right and some good customer service doesn’t hurt either.

The espresso martini’s are absolute fire!! Plus on Mondays the rump steak is divine, add to that a salsa and we are in heaven! Love this place so much!!!

The cocktails and food were great for bottomless brunch! The drinks were tasty. However they took forever to deliver the cocktails so much so that they would only serve us half of our order since we ordered 2 each. I’m not sure if this was a part of the package or not, they should probably say if it was. We got there and then ordered our first cocktails and had to wait 40 minutes even though the booking was for 2 hours. We would’ve enjoyed it more if we didn’t have to wait so long between cocktails since it was a bottomless brunch.

Seriously one of the best burgers I've ever had. Spent a Saturday afternoon up here, great venue, amazing staff and fantastic food!! Make sure you drop in, you won't regret it!

Recently been through chemo therapy and my brother and I were out to celebrate and door staff denied entry and with a cancer diagnosis I don’t drink was just looking for a dance.

Really average feed. $39 scotch fillet way over cooked, dry, chewy (ordered MR came out MW). Salad consisted of mesculin and radish only. Bar out of almost 50% of beers on tap.

One massive disappointment was when ordering from the QR code from the table I didn't realise and has never happened anywhere else is that I had to literally go and find my food as when ordering from table you don't have your food brought to you to the table... the food was sitting for 15mins before realising and considering ot wasn't busy the waitress really could have maybe said something..
I will say tho the food was great...

I went to this place recently after about two years and it has maintained its quality. I ordered the beef and the chicken burger. Both were awesome and cooked to perfection. The balcony is a very nice spot to witness the last light while having a meal.

I’m extremely disappointed in the security of this venue.
On Saturday I was a sober outsider who witnessed extremely unprofessional and unsafe conduct by ALL security. A young male was served WAY too much alcohol and ended up in the bathroom undressed and unconscious. The security team took it upon themselves to throw ice water at the young man’s head for 45 minutes rather than call an ambulance. The man’s friend then offered help to clothe him and assist him out although was met with extremely aggressive threats and behaviour from Security.
After an hour of waiting the man was finally walked out of the bathroom in which I personally took him to the Emergency Room.
At no point did any staff member call an ambulance, assist him in anyway, or try to let his friends know where he was going.
This behaviour was genuinely disgusting, the security team was unnecessarily aggressive and was threatening violence all night for no reason.

I love the new (that's new to me) interiors. The bistro upstairs is really nice, and there's the balcony - beautiful. Sunday is sports day and $15 pizzas which is pretty good. I had a Surf and Turf scotch fillet - lovely.

I have never felt more safer then in the hands of the exchange hotel security. They are always going above and beyond for their people. Goods good, music is better, staff are even better! Joe is the best.

Hey love this place every time I've been when I visit the area from Brisbane i stop in here for a bite and drink plus the security have been so helpful and nice especially this one security guy his name is Brock he's so polite and loves what he does and is so good at his job can't recommend him enough great service and a easy process when he signed me in at the door he's a legend need more workers like Brock 👍

Had a great lunch. Marked it as 4 star as being gf df I'd decided on pizza or ribs. When I sat down I was told neither of those were available. The staff couldn't be more helpful finding a good replacement. They checked everything was ok.

Great joint. Big screen for the footy and while 35° outside, the aircon is off its head. Any more powder and the stairs were gunna open up as a black diamond run 🏂

Good for an affordable midweek meal with the family. Managed to get 3 burgers and a schnitzel and three soft drinks for under $50. Which is awesome value! Nice cosy booth seat with smiling staff and busy buzz about the place. Recommended.

Enjoyed BBQ pizza. Got plastered on their cocktail specials, enjoyed my night, bar staff looked after me before I had too much. Would recommend.

Came for the Easter Thursday event & was pleasantly surprised by how busy it was! Then visited again on Easter Sunday for the Tszyu fight. Such a different vibe & crowd during the day but we loved it! Great atmosphere.

Bree was our server today. Bree was a beautiful server and made sure all of our requests where met to the best extent. She met all of our requirements (including allergens) and went above and beyond for our group. Above that Bree made sure our group was comfortable, adjusting the blinds whenever we needed while we were sitting on the balcony. We really enjoyed her service today :)

A very nice night out, up stairs at The Exchange Hotel bistro. Superbly fresh salads, an excellent Pork cutlet main meal, my partner really enjoyed her main of barramundi fillets as well. Good selection of wines, bottle or by the glass, and a number of very good craft beers on tap. Rang ahead to book for a table for Saturday night, and a portion of the Pork cutlet main, which we had been advised by hotel staff the night before to do.
Will most definitely be back here, when we next make a trip to Newcastle, and to Hamilton in particular !

anisley was the best waiter i have ever had. she is so beautiful and welcoming, perfect example of a bartender in newcastle !! 10/10 for anisely ! she needs a raise!
