What a great traditional workers pub! Cold beer, good yarns. Publicans are salt of the earth! Not for people looking for craft beer or Canadian club.

Went to watch a band and see a few friends. Place was packed, beers were super cold. Great outdoor space, with a pool table.

Went to Foots Loose free comedy that they have on a Thursday night. Good vibe and even some of the comedians were funny.

There’s no where like it anywhere else in the city - an absolute gem of a place, character up to here!

The mark of a good pub is where you can walk up to the bar and say "jug of beer, please" and the bar tender says "how many glasses?". No nonsense, free pool and Shugga is always down for play.

The best pub and bottle O in the West. Great dog and beer garden too. A proper pub. Long live the Footscray hotel!

Reminds me of home, just the smell when you walk into this place 🥰. Once inside you wouldn't belive that your 10min from the city. Don't let the sight of this pub put you off, the staff are lovely and very welcoming. I'll surely come back to this pub, we went in on a Thursday arvo, I wonder what its like on a Friday/Saturday night 🤘

Old school. Like hasn't changed since the 70's/80's. Awesome urinal setup, if your looking to sink piss and smoke darts. This place is built for that.

Not many pubs still exist with this sort of working class vibe. You won't find any craft beer or fancy meals but they know how to pour a cold beer.

Not for everyone however if you want to step back into the 70's with probably the original carpet and visit the local dog you're in for a treat (or a shock) ;-)

Massive old school pub vibes, especially if you're from the country. The beer garden feels like you're in someone's backyard and inside is dimly lit so as to provide respite from the glaring sun on a hot summers day. A single beer on tap: Carlton Draught A bastion against the insidious advance of gentrification in the west.

It's grim. People who say it has character are confused with "not a single dollar has been spent in there since 1963". There's a regular crowd that love the place. And good for them. But for anyone new first walking in, it's a rat nest of decaying furniture, mystery smells and very limited beer choices. Personally, it's a pity, as it's the closest pub to home.

I love this place, it's the Aussie equiv. of an American dive bar and I'm so there for it. The husband and wife team running it are legends and Shuga the staffy still keeps an eye on things. $9 pint of Carlton draught.

Had always seen this pub but never went in. I was pleasantly surprised. Cheap beer and felt very homely. 6 stars if I could

great pub. i'll never forget when the Western Bulldogs won their first premiership in sixty-two years, breaking the longest active drought in VFL/AFL history and the entire town of footscray was at the footscray hotel. Franko Cotzo himself made an appearance. it dosent get much better than that

Great old-school Australian pub. Always some one happy to have a chin wag. With Carlton draught on tap why would you go anywhere else. Great place to sink a few beers and meet some great locals.

Great old Australian pub. Laid back and relaxed. Limited selection of drinks but a proper local pub, well worth the visit for a trip back in time.

Great classic pub that shows what Footscray was like in the 70s to 90s. It’s a survivor. I hope someone who buys this property restores it to a biker bar or something true to its nature. Yeah it’s old and needs alot of work but look past that and you will see a gem.

Good pub and live music venue. Decent-sized beer garden, lovely staff. A great, unpretentious place to see a band and/or have a few drinks.

Classic unpretentious pub. The only left of its kind in the area. Great atmosphere, cheap drinks and friendly owners. Love the bowling game, pool table and love the gorgeous dog SHUGGA !

A few Carlton Draughts on tap here brought me right back to growing up in Melbourne in the 70's. Loved it for the memories, beer garden like a back yard, dog to play with, not the cleanest but not filthy either, good service. Don't be put off, drop in and visit a typical Melbourne pub from the 60's/70's.
