Wish I could give no stars. Made a booking over a month ago for lunch on boxing day and confirmed that the kitchen would be open. Rocked up with guests from out of town for lunch to be told their not cooking meals today. We asked why we didn't receive a phone call or anything to let us know, but the guy at the bar didn't have an answer. Extremely poor service, won't be going back.

We went for lunch on a Friday. Was fairly busy. The food was out quickly. My husband had fish & chips. Said the fish wasn't nice, but I enjoyed my parmi.

Went there for a meal with a large group server was easily the rudest waitress I have ever come across. American friend who is a server commented that she would get sacked on the spot if she spoke to customers that way. Food was average, will not be back.

We arrived without a booking as we had dined there previously and there were usually plenty of tables vacant. We walked in to be greeted with a gruff "how many is your booking for?" "you should have booked" and "go to the Star" despite only 4 of the many tables being full - with no reserve signs in sight. The empty tables in the dining area remained vacant throughout our visit of over an hour. We were then begrudgingly shown where we could sit. The food was nice despite running out of some items on the menu.

Very friendly staff, great service. Band seemed to have a few problems with the in-house PA. But a great night out.

The whole experience was amazing from having a drink at the bar to dinning in. Deb, you and the staff were very friendly, the food was excellent. We will definitely be back

The resurrection of the Gippy is definitely a good thing .. It's a work in progress, but with a comfortable feel .. It caters to a crowd that haven't had a space that fits for quite some time, and does it well .. An old school Aussie pub that's not pretentious or ageist or dominated by sports betting, pokies or corporate image .. Good people, good food, good service, good music, good atmosphere, safe, comfortable and welcoming ..

The friendliest and most helpful staff around ! The potato wedges were perfect …crispy on the outside and fluffy inside
As a wet and cold camper on the Great VIC bike ride I was impressed with the hospitality and kindness of the staff on both days I visited

The food was very good, The service and welcoming mannerism was very nice. I ordered a fisherman's basket expecting it to be processed fish. I was pleasantly surprised as it was not and it was cooked perfectly. The only negative I can give is the smell in the bar is very hard to get past.

The food was delicious. I had the grilled fish and it was so perfectly cooked I didn't want the meal to finish! My husband had the steak which was cooked just the way he wanted: not rare, not well-done but perfectly medium. The mini pavlova for dessert completed a wonderful meal.
Staff were attentive and friendly, the atmosphere was conducive to conversation, and we'll definitely be back.

Stopped in for a break on our way to Lakes Entrance. The new manager was very friendly and we enjoyed chatting to her while we had a few drinks. We will definitely stop in again and can’t wait to see their big plans for the place come to fruition

Standard Aussie pub experience, good generous sized meals, reasonably priced. Good cold drinks with a range of beers on tap. Freindly staff who served our meals quite quickly. Parking available in the street outside.

Shame on you!
Your lack of community, bullying and threats to a small business owner selling coffee on the premises of Dan Murphys (which they allowed originally before you got stuck into them) is absolutely disgusting. You need to be name and shamed for being a heartless man. Word is getting around on social media of your poor handling, and quite frankly, ugly behaviour. Do better!

Love visiting the gippy hotel when we are in town with our family. Great atmosphere, yummy food and helpful staff make us feel so welcome every time. Thanks guys! Back again soon for sure!

I haven't been there since new owners took over recently but they used to have a huge Parma in bistro I don't know if they have gluten free meals yet I'll let u know

Great experience! If you're looking for a schnitzel this is the place to go! Largest selection of schnitzel I've ever seen. The garlic bread is also honestly kind of life changing. It was incredible. Only adjustment for me would be some music in the bistro! Staff were very lovely. If I travel this way again I will be back!

Generous helpings of pub grub type meals. Food came out within 20 mins of ordering and was beautiful. We had the Italian schnitzel and the Tuscan lamb skewers and it was the best lamb I have ever had. Highly recommended. Usually booked out by 6:30 so arrive early

Food was awful and had a weird taste as-well as being so expensive. We waited over 1.5 hours for food and we were the only ones in the bistro when we booked. The second time we went back hoping things had changed as they were only just opening, food was no better and neither was the wait time. When booking via the phone the male on the other end is always rude and often having conversations with other people when trying to book.

Fantastic relaxed and easy going country pub. Staff are friendly and helpful. Plenty of screens to view sport. The parma is one of the best I've consumed in quite some time. Locals are good crack. Check it out.

Dropped in late (not long before 2pm) for some lunch.
Friendly staff and locals in the bar.
Food was fast and look appetising and tasted as good as it looked.
We would recommend this pub and we will be back for sure.

Called to book a table and the phone was answered with a gruff "hello" not even naming where we'd called! Arrived and was seated near the kitchen only to hear kitchen staff swearing profusely. The menu selection was not very big but we were still willing to give it a try. Ended up walking out after the 20th F and C came resounding from the kitchen. Disgusting for a "family friendly" establishment! Had a delicious meal at Jack Ryan's. Never going back.

Best pub meal for a long time. Hubby hates the grass salad as he calls it. Salad made with ice berg lettuce not overpowering with dressing.we had the potato Parma. Will be back for the cutlets people had on the next table. Great staff very friendly

Average pub with average range of pub meals - nothing wrong with anything but also nothing special, eg The Cri had a better atmosphere and a better range of meals

Amazing food, drinks and atmosphere - especially when the live music is pumping! The new management have certainly turned this place around.
