We went to the Gov for the Bjorn Again live show on Australia day night. They were fully booked in both areas ( Gig & restaurant), I'm glad we booked. The girls were very attentive and the food came out quick. The toilets were reasonable. There is a disabled one, but when it is busy it would be hard to get around, but not saying you can't do it wit a bit of help.There are lots of little areas to eat where you could have a group of people .

Went for dinner before a gig. Absolute best way to do it. (Make sure you book)
Main restaurant was great. Menu was very good, plenty of foods for all diets.
Wine list was sensational.
Service was good and the environment was comfortable.
The live music area is stunning, plenty of indoor and outdoor space. Plenty of fresh air and the acoustics are some of the best for live music in this city.

Went for a vegan burger and chips before heading to Thunderbirds game. Twas quick, food was great, and atmosphere was brilliant. Best place to see bands too, intimate and great vibes.

Went for a concert tonight, walk in and no longer can sit on bar stools around the table like every other concert I have been to for years. I told the girl working I have had back surgery and her response was bad luck. Nice attitude!!! If you don't like your job, find another one you rude cow!!!

Victor Wooten chose a fine place to bestow his talents, and The Gov appropriately served it on a silver platter. Good music, good venue, and good atmosphere.
If my band stops flaking on practices, I hope The Gov gives us the chance to take the stage.

Saw the very ordinary Animals play a gig there, ticket was bought for me, had pub grub first tho. Prompt service but expensive grub for what it was. Go round the corner to the Brompton and pay the same price for delicious food. Drop in to the Gov and have a super dry on tap in a plastic cup.

Saw Bjorn Again. Great show, great venue. Full house. Also saw Shipping Steel and New sensation the night before

One of the last bastions of live music and a testament to the unique enjoyment of live music and bands.
Give this classic amazing Adelaide pub the support it truly deserves 😎🤘

LOVE LOVE LOVE. From the second you walk in the atmosphere is intoxicating and exciting. The staff are absolutely beautiful and friendly but very on point with the service. The food was fresh and delicious the beer cold and coffee hot and creamy.
Then the main attraction. The music Hell yes the variety of artists in mind blowing but Brad Cox and Sammy White I absolutely adore you both. The whole night and experience was wonderful. I do not give 5 stars often or lightly but visiting THE GOV is a must on your SA bucket list.

It was overcrowded and extremely hot.
and seriously understaffed.
The bar was 4 people deep all the way around and they had 3 staff and only 1 staff in the front bar.
They had dining tables set up on floor in front of the stage and also added over 50 seats to the dance/standing area.
So there was no room for those standing to watch comfortably everyone was squashed in or out in the extreme heat.
There was people fainting from the heat and it took over half hour to get water at the bar.
Was very poorly organised and run..
People were entering the venue from the front bar entrance and just walking straight through to the band area that others had paid $80 a ticket for.
I don't understand why a venue that doesn't have a seated area would just throw 50 plus seats on the dance floor and turn it into seating, and leaving no room for those standing etc
Seating took up an entire side, yet 400 tickets were sold with no room for people to move.
It was a fire hazard and extremely dangerous.
If something had happened people couldn't get out safely.
Very lucky it didn't end badly.

Had a really good concert here, great venue small and intimate, but also big enough for decent sized crowds. The outdoor area behind the doors is nice to get away for a few minutes, if needed. Had the food here before also and was really good. It's a really good spot near the city.

Had a great time on a Sat afternoon listening to 3 bands, one of which was Dead Set. It would have been great if the food service started earlier than 1pm but when the food came out, the servings were extremely generous!

Great show, The bands were great, the staff were excellent and fast, and the other punters were even amazing.
If you ever get the chance to see Regurgitator live, do it!

Great place to see a live band, but food was below average. Chicken schnitzel was so overcooked, I could barely cut through it. Had a very peculiar taste, so really hoping we don't end up sick. Probably won't dine here again unfortunately 😔

Great music venue. Watched a gig here recently and was so impressed. They have great facilities, the layout, the ambience, everything was great. I will definitely be coming back for future music events.

For NYE with Latino Grooves - it was a nice large space, bar staff were pleasant, glasssesctidied up quickly, some seating outside in kind of a tropical setting - I enjoyed it. Felt comfortable going on my own which might reflect both the activity and the venue

Caught up with a friend there on a Sunday night during the festival season, had a few beers. I was intrigued by the fit-out and the Jetsons style bar, we were in the venue bit that was like a giant carport that was enclosed. They had Moo Brew Pale Ale in the mini champagne bottles….mmm delicious. Staff were friendly and warm, it really was a special treat to go out to such a pub. I remember when that type of establishment used to exist in Sydney and has been absolutely years since I’ve enjoyed that vibe. Really miss it.

Awesome venue for an intimate concert, I came here with my partner to see Windwaker, Enter Shikari and Creeper for the end of their Australian tour in Adelaide (videos attached).
They were absolutely amazing, the stage was small and the crowd was decent. We got a fist bump, hug and guitar pick from the drummer, Jesse, from Windwaker, so that really made our night! We had a blast and would easily come back to The Gov for another performance.
Enter Shikari was having so much fun on stage, Adelaide showed them so much ❤️
We didnt drink or eat anything there so I cant make a judgement on that, but it looks like a neat little bar with a beachy vibe, there is indoor and outdoor seating.
