Went here to have dinner on Friday night. The underground parking was a plus as you don't have to hassle trying to find a street park. Food was okay, although I think some were overpriced. Like the pork belly was not pleasant to eat without mash/chips or green Veggies which you had to order separately. The parmagiana and salmon salad were nice. Friendly staff. Clean facilities.

Went here for some drinks between wedding ceremony and reception. LOTS of tables. Great buzz. I ordered a lot of chips! All the other food looked good too. Parking was a bit of a nightmare, but only because we were there at the wrong time of day and week.

We had dinner with our friends. We visit the Greengate from time to time as a family and decided to invite friends along this time. Excellent evening had by all and everyone had a great meal.

We had 12 family members in the Terrace dining area for a birthday lunch and everything was fabulous. The staff were excellent, friendly and very attentive. The menu had a great variety of dishes and everyone commented on how good the food was. Decent sizes and very reasonably priced. Lovely atmosphere, very clean and family friendly. Will definitely be back. We also brought our own cake and they supplied plates etc free of charge. Highly recommended. We will be back again very soon.

This is a local hotel, one of the few places you can find food in Killara. There are $15 deals on most weekdays, including pizza on Monday, chicken parmigiana on Tuesday and Taco on Wednesday. I have tried both the pizza and parmigiana and they are both very tasty! I particularly like the salad from parmigiana. They are definitely great deal. They also have cool sparkling water you can self serve which is really nice, a very good reason for a visit too! There are also two sections in the hotel. If you order in the inner section, they will serve you rather than you need to pick up, which is also kind of nice too. There are also band that comes to play at times which is definitely a plus. Their main meals are slightly pricey though.

The sauces for the steaks aren't that good. This time I had musroom sauce and last time I had the pepper sauce. Very 'subtle' is the most complementary way of describing them. They are very reminiscent of a 'Gravox' packet mix. They may not be but they are VERY similar to each other. One thing they know how to do is cook a steak. I like mine rare and they come out perfect. The side salads are a travesty. Really a mockery of a salad. If you like fries then maybe you will like these but the chips are better. The menu doesn't change very often so if you don't visit the Greengate very often the this is the menu for you. We have been thrice in the last few weeks so there isn't enough variety to tempt us back again in a while. Usually the service is OK. But last visit was different. If you like to be asked at the bar 'what can I get you?' or 'what would you like?' or something along those lines, then go somewhere else. If you like to walk up to the bar and be greeted with a deadpan stare, and no conversation, then this is the place for you. Some customer service training might help.

The Greengate Hotel is located on the corner of Greengate Road and Pacific Highway in Killara. The hotel has a nice atmosphere and the staff are friendly and helpful. Check for lunchtime specials. On Monday they have $18 burgers.

The food was overpriced and the fish tacos were tasteless. My friend was charged a credit card surcharge when they paid in cash, nothing was done when they argued it. This is wrong. Surcharge is 10% on Sundays. Do not go on a Sunday. Disappointed. This place used to be great, it's such a pretty venue. I won't be telling anyone to go back.

Never had an experience like this before with such a chill group of people the bouncer was crazy!! Was there for the footie on Wednesday night and the bouncer got incredibly made at me for smoking in the slots machine, he then asked us to move out of the area because we had finished using the slot machines even thought we had just finished playing on them. He yelled at me to stop smoking as I was walking outside and grabbed my cigarette before I could put it out on one of the ash trays inside of the smoking area. He then aggressively walked me outside and pathetically threw my cigarette and stomped on it like a child. He was overly aggressive for no reason and this happened around 11pm when there was hardly any patrons left in the building. Thought my money was best used some place else and I calmly walked away as I could tell he had some sort of anger issues as he got so aggressive for no reason. The venue is great but serious reconsidering of the security here!!

Made me pay a 10% Sunday surcharge when using cash even though the menu states the surcharge is only for card. Ended up paying card because didn't have enough cash so a $26+28 order came to $60.22. The cauliflower streak I ordered was a very small portion for $28 and half of it was the stem which is too hard to eat. No chips or salad with it either. The security guy was also quite rude. Not coming here again unfortunately.

I went here to do a taste test, but would like to go one day for a meal. Killara is a beautiful suburb and it's a gorgeous old pub that would be great on a nice summer's day. Pity it's so close to the highway, which means the view isn't great, but the pub itself makes up for that.

Honesty never had an experience like this before. Security was incredibly rude and physical with our group, young patrons who came in for dinner and some birthday celebrations. Our group was physically and aggressively forced out of the venue in the pokies area between rounds of getting cash out and drinks from the bar. The manager on the night would not even stand for a conversation and just assumed the group was intoxicated without even mentioning the reason of why we where not welcome in the venue. When asked why some members where abruptly kicked out the bouncers and manager where quick and snappy to threaten a long term ban after asking the question politely. I was a long term visitor of the pub but will no longer be visiting or recommending the establishment to family or friends. Very disappointing how young people are treated here!

Great selection of craft beer rolling through the taps coupled with good modern pub food. Kids eat free certain days/times making it a family friendly venue with in and outdoor seating.

Great pub with lots of sunny beer garden spots out front and at the back. Sports bar along with some quieter spots. Food comes out super fast and great wine list. Chilled atmosphere that is both family and pet friendly. More places like this are needed. Full of character and atmosphere.

Great food, good selection of cold beers and dog friendly (in the outdoor courtyard). Our dog is part of our family and goes everywhere, so for a great pub that ticks off these three boxes and coupled with friendly service gets 5 stars. Oh and plenty of seating too, so room for everyone. Proof that doing a few things and doing them well is a win win. Well done Greengate Hotel.

Great environment located in a beautiful building. Food was only average - ordered medium rare rump steak that was overcooked and under seasoned. Was also pretty tough. Tomahawk was decent

Excellent local spot if you’re on the upper North Shore. Food is quite respectable pub food. It’s got a bit of charm about it and they have some live musicians in the dining areas sometimes. Nice laid back spot, although I prefer out the back than the front as it can get a bit noisy on pacific highway.

Excellent and unusual food: duck pancakes, grilled halloumi starters, roasted pumpkin and chick peas, duck breasts (clearly there’s a good season for duck this year) and crispy schnitties and coleslaw. Only downside, it is pretty loud inside the saloon, conversation was impaired. Wine list is excellent compared to standard pub/hotels, definitely go if you like wine, but it’s on the pricey side as a result. Seating out the back has those misting fans to keep it cool which this week was a relief. Dogs on leash allowed outside at the front of the pub. Definitely going back.

Enjoyed a few hours with mates on a recent Sunday afternoon, good atmosphere sitting outside and watching the world go by. Prices were reasonable. i had fish tacos which were okay but I wouldn’t have them again - a bit different to what I was expecting, beer battered fish tacos? Others seemed to enjoy their meals (bangers and mash and a burger).

DO NOT ORDER THE FISH TACOS! They are covered in thick batter like the worst fish n chip shop in West Penrith. The staff were lovely and the food came very quickly. Avoid booking a table at the restaurant on a Saturday night. It was SO LOUD and then the amplified singer and music started. Is it a restaurant or a music venue? We left asap as we couldn’t have a conversation and we were on the far side of the room to the band.

Chips were decent but overpriced. Only sauce available were those little plastic squeeze packets. Atmosphere outside was nice in the afternoon but the inside was drab. None of the staff looked like they enjoyed the job which is fair tbh because working hospo sucks but it contributes to the dull vibes.

A rainy day lunch made us realise that we missed the opportunity to dine outside here as it looked quite nice. Inside was just as pleasant with multiple options of areas to sit and eat. We opted for the Terrace section. The menu was vast and all dishes we had were fresh and delicious. Staff were helpful and friendly. Would love to head back again one day

An antique style hotel. The place has a good vibe, great lighting, clean, has good range of craft beers on tap and great food inc the special of the day. It is little pricey but worth it. Thanks to all the friendly staff

A lovely place to go have a meal with friends and family, normal price for normal formal meals. Good amount of food. Nice services. Just one little extra, they have extra special every week which is more affordable price around15~20 dollars, have a very nice quality food choice. We came on Monday special, which was the pizza choice, they have three flavours we ordered the veggie one. Taste delicious and fulfilled. Their beer and batter chips is also very nice. Nice place to come every now and then. Would love to try others dishes next time.
