We were passing through Mackay on our way south and found their Steak night $20 offer. It was cooked to perfection (rare) and the quality was excellent. It was one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long while. I didn’t want the dinner to end! Congratulations and thanks to the chef.

We were not told or notified that our loyalty cards were no longer good here, since the Star group took over. The young manager should get extra training in customer service. She was rude and abrupt when I questioned her further. The food and service were OK. We didn't play the pokies. The young server in there really wanted to be somewhere else, and so did we. The only good thing about this place now is the drive through. Our years of loyalty to the old card were for nothing. No we don't like the Shamrock either.

We had dinner here for our daughters birthday because it was close and had a playground for them, we arrived when the dinner menu could start to be ordered and it was one of the best dinners we have had in ages! Calamari was cooked to perfection! The kids had a blast and we got the relax and watch them while they played! Staff were all super friendly and happy to have a chat if the kids came up to them, thanks to the whole team for a wonderful experience!

We booked a table for 20 people ending up have a few drop out. We had half the food come out under cooked and half the table waited over another hour for the rest of the food to come out, we were not eating together. 3 of the people had sickness after the meals and some of the food came out undercooked, food was missing so got sent back and there was a mix up some how with a gluten free pizza base.

We are regulars to the Andergrove Tavern and unfortunately for the last 3 times we've dined here the food has gone downhill. The first time my husband ordered the fisherman's basket and it was all frozen products and it was supposed to be the chefs special!
The fish and chips my husband ordered the second time was like a child's portion. Very small.
The time before that the lamb shanks were pathetic. No vegetables!! When we complained they made us a fresh one and it looked no different.
For the price we paid, no value for money.
The schnitzels however are very good value so it's just so inconsistent with the food overall.
Very disappointing but we won't be supporting our local Tavern.

Tried to order my meal was told they were out, proceeded to order a different meal again told they were out. Ordered the third time and very disappointed with the meal, as were the other people at the table. Over all a disappointing night.

To the old lady with blonde/shaved hair on a power trip at the front door !!!! If tables are not reserved then we can sit where we like , just because you say you have regulars who like to sit there , if they haven’t booked them first in best dressed . Then you drove away 2 people who sat down by saying they will have to move because you have regulars that like that table !!!!!!! Wow ! Get off your high horse woman

The Grove is our favourite place to drink, dine and relax. The meals are delicious and very well priced. The staff are incredible! They make the effort to remember our orders and our names. They make the experience truly special every time. All the ladies - especially Shelby - are very attentive and we cannot speak highly enough of them.

So very disappointed in The Grove tonight. I ordered the Fish n Chips with salad, I had to ask for tartare sauce (included) and return my plate to the kitchen to ask for the chips! Unfortunately the battered fish was soggy and the tomatoes on the salad were bordering rotten. Sorry The Grove, that's it for me. 👎

Pleasant meal at The Grove - had the barramundi from the specials menu just to try something different from normal pub fare. Was pleasantly surprised with an excellent dish. Would recommend for a visit- good for families with an enclosed kids playground outside.

Paying good money for what I ordered however was not delivered to my request.
The kitchen need to read the order correctly.

Ordered a few steaks for lunch. Joined the star rewards program to knock a few dollars off our meal. Steaks were okay. Food and drinks are reasonably priced. We also played the dart machine as well.

Loved it, staff member Shannon was lovely and funny, he has very good customer service. The meals were great and came out in a reasonable time. Atmosphere was great. Our table of 12 had a great evening.

Last minute dinner with my son. Didn’t book and got a table for the two of us. Ordered meals and they were out within 20 minutes. Super quick and tasted great. A+

It's always an exciting gastronomic adventure visiting the Grove. Their lamb shanks and mash are out of this world. Service is always with a smile. The kids are always treated well, and the ice cream with the kiddies meal is a good treat. Next time, I will try the calamari. We also ordered the chicken schnitzel, rump, and battered fish off the kiddies menu.

Had lunch here on Friday 20/10/23 and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the chicken schnitzel with chips salad and gravy, I think it's probably the best chicken schnitzel I've had in Mackay so far! Will definitely be back.

Great first impression, the place was lovely and clean. As it was my first time here, I didn’t realise we had to line up at the bar to order so ended up waiting at the table for someone to come to take the order. Would have been nice if the staff had advised me this after taking me to my table. Before I realised this myself, the queue was already quite long, a bit disappointing. Ordered steak 🥩 with healthy side options (vege & 🥗) and it was amazing. Steak was cooked to perfection as requested and vege & salads were fresh with good portion size overall. Service could be better as it was hard to get staff’s attention since they don’t really walk around much so the further you sit away from the entry, the harder to get staff’s attention. Overall was a great experience and will definitely return for more meals.

Food was pretty ordinary especially love waiting over an hour for my food then when it finally comes out ringing wet of deep fry oil, pokies never pay out

Do not recommend. New owners and change in staff make it an unpleasant experience. Lady with short hair at front desk was rude and yelling at children for standing near parents when ordering food. Bar staff rude and unhelpful. Will never go again.

Burn't & thin chicken schnitzel was too crunchy & no flavour left in it. Salad - hahahaha: a tiny pinch carrot, 2 tiny peaces of tomatoe & foreign letus that was dressed in something to try give it flavour lol... Asked for cheesy garlic bread & they gave me normal half burn't garlic braed.
chips & mushroom gravy were good but thats it !!! Really really disapointed me... they used to be exelent takeaway food, but twice now ive gone there for chicken schnitzel, chips & salad & gotten disapinted with burn't thin chicken schnitzel !

Ate tonight at the Grove. Used the Star Liquor app birthday deal where 4 eat for the price of 2. Awesome deal. Meals were great.schnittys huge and tasty and my salmon and gnocci special was 5 star. Highly recommend for a great pub meal👍👌⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
