What a great venue! If you want to have a fantastic night, Friday and Saturday Karaoke is awesome. People just have a crack! I am often surprised by the talent in the area and even those that aren't so great have a fantastic time and are appreciated for their bravery. If you don't have a good time and find this night not for you... maybe you should check with your friends if you are as fun as you think you are. Because a night at the Hamo is well worth your time. As a regular visitor, I love the place and am sure you will too.

Went here on Friday night to see the sold out event of Catherine Britt. The band and the venue and the pub was great and the food was excellent, had really really great night

We absolutely LOVE the Hamilton station hotel. We are so lucky to be able to call it our local & our home away from home. We feel nothing but comfortable there, this is due to the friendly & fun staff, the easy going lovely patrons, the security team & the karaoke host. They all do whatever they can to make our night a good one. The food is always spot on & the atmosphere is always buzzing. We wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Ventured to Hamo Station Hotel for lunch. I had Chicken BLT on Turkish Bread. Absolutely delicious. Husband had The Works Burger....also delicious!!

This place reeks of drugs and violence . The staff were pleasant with the exception of the Manager who looks like he should be organising dog fights instead of pouring beer

The service staff were polite and attentive but the food was very average. Got a fish and chips (fish cooked to a crisp, dry and tough) and chicken burger (dry chicken breast). The worse part was though, looking up at the wall halfway through the meal and noticing about 20 cockroaches crawling on the wall over the Ten Commandments mural. Some were also on our table. I have never had to swat away cockroaches while eating, and never hope to have to again. Management definitely need to sort this out. Cockroaches in photo on coaster.

Answer: Hand it over to the overgrown Children who run the Hamilton Station Hotel. 🤣
Rude, overbearing and arrogant security at the door and throughout the pub. If you want a bad night out and to be ordered around by the staff this is the place for you. The Karaoke host has a chip on her shoulder, no talent and treats patrons like a problem to be handled instead of guests. It explains why she has two shows at this pub on a Friday and Saturday and no others. The drinks are overpriced, the publican is missing in action and the manager thinks he's the leader of the security team instead of the head of customer service. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place at all costs. Mind you, by the lack of a crowd in the place you likely already do.
Update! After two weeks I returned to see if this review made any difference. It sure did, I'm barred from the venue! Join me and become one of the people proudly barred from the Hamilton Station Hotel. Apparently you don't have to be drunk, aggressive or overbearing to be excluded from this establishment. Just call them out for their unprofessional conduct and you too can join the club. And again by the size of the crowd that I saw before attempting entry, you likely are. We should print t-shirts.
2nd update - wow! Lots of short 5 star reviews since I put out the truth on this place. Do you think the overgrown children running this pub are soliciting positive reviews from their few friends to massage their bruised egos? Really looks that way.

New band room is absolutely sick! Always down to grab a $5 Asahi from here and the food is always tops. Try the Poutine while you're here.

Never ate so can't comment,came in about 9pm and it was very much alive cause of Live Band/Karaoke..Very loud and many drunks but no trouble at all which was nice.
.Was freezing outside and raining but warm as toast inside, so warm that many women had to almost completely undress it seems many removing bras lol

Music on Fridays and Saturdays draws in a young, vibrant crowd. Noisy but that's expected. Karaoke Friday, live on Saturday.
Pool table and pinball machine, Game of Thrones, which plays well. Also Big Buck w critters shooting game.
Staff have been great, both barkeeps and security. Indoor and outdoor seating. TVs w sports.
I cannot yet vouch for the food.

I was passing here during the day and thought I'd drop in for a brew. Noticed they had poutine on the menu so stayed to snack.
Lots of televisions and a slightly grungier atmosphere without much natural light let in.
The poutine was alright, they had a few different types. Drinks were reasonably priced.

I never eaten food here. The venue is well organised for its business and suitable for the music performed. Will always come back when the right gigs are on

I love the vibe in this pub. Its my favourite pub when I visit Newcastle. An eclectic mix of patrons that gives the pub a chilled and laid back vibe.
Also, bloody great food.

I have been coming here for about 18 years and I can’t fault this venue. It is a fun, friendly and highly inclusive environment with fairly priced drinks and friendly bar staff and security. Their reputation for being the home of karaoke speaks for itself. Alicia’s karaoke is the best in Newcastle. Not only is she very welcoming and friendly but she knows how to entertain a crowd.

I have been a patron of the Staysh for 20 years or more and even though I live in Lake Macquarie I consider the Staysh as my local, the staff are lovely and accommodating, the security staff make you feel safe n secure, I’ve only ever went to karaoke there and have struck up an awesome relationship with the host or anyone that stands in for her, there is never any problems or requests that don’t get fulfilled. Celebrated many occasions here, and met some lovely long time friends that I consider family… if you are looking for the best night out that gets a following and has an atmosphere that’s pumping, then get yourself to The Hamo Station Hotel.

If you want an awesome night out make sure you hit the station hotel. Karaoke and live bands at its finest. If you’re into your karaoke you’ll have an absolute ball. Ali who runs the karaoke is awesome and knows her stuff. The bar staff and all of the security make sure you have a safe enjoyable night. I’ve been hitting the station for over 20 years and will always continue to support the venue. Again if you want a fantastic night out the station hotel is the place to be.

Had a great time watching a free local rock show (from punk to indie to metal bands.) It's a great venue if you don't mind if being grunge. The carpet felt kinda sticky which is gross, but it's punk rock at the same time. Good sound, intimate stage, lots of tables to sit at if you're with a big group.

Great Pub. Went to watch live music and it was a great atmosphere. Great locals to mingle with. Staff were very friendly too.

Great place to hang out for alts, misfits.
Kareole Friday and Saturday nights, friendly staff and security (but they keep the hotheads under control). Diverse crowd of alt, kinksters, metalheads, LGBTQ+ and generally fun oddball people.

Food was garbage. Service was just non-existent. You have a girl working there who is just the rudest person I've ever met. Her stature matches her attitude. Avoid this place like the plague

An amazing venue with a great bistro. Came here to see some bands on a Thuraday night and it was amazing.
It was lovely to see the trains outside going over the level crossing. The food was divine. I had a cheese burger and chips it was just perfect.
The staff here are amazing and have infectious smiles.
Can't wait to return in the future.

A great venue to see a live band with good atmosphere and well priced drinks.

Absolutely disgusting. Was eating fish and chips, turned around and 20-30 cockroaches were crawling next to me on the wall and came onto the table. Have never had to actively swat away cockroaches whilst having dinner. Cockroaches aside, food was below average. Please seek some pest control for this infestation.
